Durion entered from outside, arms full of firewood, yawning as he fed logs into the fireplace. He glanced our way nervously a few times before finally speaking.
“If you need anything, I’ll hitch up a sled and go get it for you myself.”
“No, Durion. There’s nothing we need. I just wanted to show Kian a bit of the outdoors.”

Sikar, who’d been shifting his weight with the bucket, paused with an exhausted expression—and I liked seeing that look on his face.

Sikar had clearly wanted to go back inside, but after I whispered that this was a chance for him to grow closer to Kian, he turned his steps back toward the ice.
He looked so cold he wanted to bolt inside immediately, but since young Kian hadn’t complained about the cold, Sikar’s pride wouldn’t let him admit he was freezing—no matter what.
Truthfully, Kian wasn’t as affected by the cold because he’d grown up in the snowy mountains. Sikar seemed to have forgotten that fact.
“Well, I’m too cold—I’ll head back in first. Kian, catch lots of fish! Make it a really big one!”
“Yes! I’ll make sure we have a delicious fish dinner tonight, all made by me!”
After ruffling Kian’s hair affectionately, I returned to the manor humming cheerfully.
Sitting in front of the warm fireplace, wrapped in a shawl and sipping hot cocoa, I suddenly felt overwhelmingly drowsy.
After all, nothing beats being warm and full.
Without realizing it, I dozed off for a short nap—and by the time I woke, the fishing party had returned.
“Look at this, Madam! The bucket’s completely full!”

Kian, clearly pleased, gave a shy smile.
“When I grow up, I’ll cook you a meal using fish I catch myself!”
“Kian, that already feels like enjoying a delicious meal made just for me.”
This adorable child was simply impossible not to love—I pulled Kian into a tight hug.
But Kian’s body felt slightly warm. When I touched his forehead, sure enough, he had a mild fever.
“Kian, you have a fever?”

“It could’ve been from coming in out of the cold earlier. But sweating cold sweat now with no apparent reason… that seems concerning.”
Sikar gently took my hand.
“This seems more like a mental issue than a physical one. I’d better go in—into Kian’s dreams.”

I still don’t get how her spending his money makes him impressed? 😂🤣
Honestly? Good job Sikar. The twins (especially Luid) and brats and should stop fighting all the time. Their dad isn’t doing get there. And I’m not a fan of the “gentle parenting” when the kids are absolute terrors that need a more firm hand.
I wonder if Sikar is starting to get slightly jealous of Kian and his interactions with Yura?
