Lucy, who had been quietly listening nearby, nodded in agreement.
“That’s right. Duke Sikar is scary.”
“Exactly! See? Even Lucy says he’s scary!”
Raydocs could clearly see just how deep Luid’s distrust of Duke Blake ran.
But the moment he’d decided to give Prince Kian lessons, it was as good as pledging to serve him as this country’s sovereign—and that meant acknowledging Kian as Luid’s future ruler.
From Raydocs’s perspective, it was a headache that his own son didn’t even recognize his sovereign and was throwing a tantrum, calling “this guy” and “that guy” while demanding they be chased away.
“Luid, Duke Sikar may be frightening, but he isn’t a bad person.”
“If he made a child cry, he’s a bad person!”
However, Lucy couldn’t fully agree with Luid.
“But Duchess Blake is a truly wonderful lady. I really like her.”
“That’s right, Luid. You haven’t forgotten that House Blake helped us find our Lucy, have you? We must never forget kindness.”
It was certainly true that finding Lucy was an act deserving of gratitude. Yet even so, Luid still wasn’t particularly pleased about Kian.
Luid spoke in a voice drained of all energy.
“Well… I guess that’s true…”
“Besides that, your father entrusted Kian to us because they’ve also helped our territory in other ways. So for Lucy’s sake, try to get along well with Kian. Understood?”
Luid wanted to argue back somehow, but having no words left, he reluctantly replied.
“Yes.”
“Then let’s all take our seats now.”
The study room had a single round table in the center, around which the children sat in a circle. Raydocs also sat at the round table, took out a book, and looked at the children.
“We’ll start studying history today. Now that you’re both seven, it’s time you learned it.”
“History?”
Lucy and Luid looked at him with faces that seemed to ask what that was, so Raydocs smiled and ruffled both their heads. Watching this, Kian was reminded of Valije, who often tousled his hair just like this.
Though Kian still didn’t know whether his father was alive or not, he no longer held any hope that he’d survived—the man had vanished without a trace on that snowy mountain.
“Yes. We’ll learn how our kingdom came to be and all the great things it achieved.”
“Wow! That sounds fun!”
The twins, who’d said this, fell asleep before Raydocs had even turned the first page of the history book.
Since this history lesson wasn’t truly meant for the twins anyway, Raydocs focused solely on reading the book, not even glancing at Kian as if to test him—after all, if Kian were like any ordinary child, he’d fall asleep right away too.
But Kian showed considerable interest. Though this wasn’t a lively history class with friends like his spirit lessons with Vika, it had its own unique charm.
As Raydocs taught history, Kian’s bright, intelligent eyes never wavered—not even once.
Seeing this, Raydocs once again glimpsed the bearing of a true sovereign in Kian. He felt certain that Kian would become a ruler wiser and more brilliant than any king in history.
‘Has there ever been a crown prince, at merely seven years old, who focused this keenly on his lessons?’
So caught up in his thoughts, Raydocs nearly blurted out, “Well done, Your Highness,” and had to quickly cover it with a few coughs before waking the twins.
“The lesson’s over—time to get up now.”
After finishing the class, Raydocs roused the twins. Lucy was still half-asleep and dazed, while Luid stretched and spoke as if he’d paid the utmost attention throughout the lesson.
“Father, the story was really fun.”
“Yes! It was fun!”
Though the twins pretended they hadn’t slept at all despite having napped soundly, this was nothing new to Raydocs.
“Good work. Take a short break, and then we’ll resume the lesson.”
“Yes, Father!”
“Then I’ll be back in thirty minutes—don’t fight and play nicely.”
When giving such answers, the twins were always unusually spirited.
“Yes, of course!”
Though it was obvious they’d end up fighting anyway, he had to trust them to manage on their own.
Besides, he’d grown confident that Kian, being so clever, would surely get along well with his children.
So when he returned shortly after leaving, he found an even bigger headache waiting for him.
The moment he entered the study room, Raydocs saw Kian, who’d scratched his own hand trying to stop Lucy—taking Luid’s place.
“Kian! Are you okay?!”
“Oh—yes. It’s nothing serious. I’m fine.”
Though Kian insisted he was fine, Raydocs already felt a dull ache spreading through the back of his head.

Before heading to the Duke’s residence, we made a brief stop in the capital city.
The capital was always bustling with people and brimming with energy. Walking these streets after so long somehow eased my worries about Kian just a little.
“There were plenty of dresses, but no jewelry. So today I thought I’d buy some of your gems too…”
When I heard Sikar’s next words, I nearly tripped forward.
“I think I should get you some undergarments too.”
I stopped walking abruptly and glared at Sikar as if he were a pervert.
“How do you even know whether I have too many or too few undergarments?!”
Unlike my flustered state, Sikar remained perfectly calm.
“You… you… you don’t mean you can actually see that sort of thing, do you?”
“What sort of thing?”
“Like… watching me wear undergarments… or seeing me bathe…?”
Sikar looked at me as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
“Of course. Why are you asking something so obvious?”
“You… pervert!”
Frowning, Sikar grabbed my waist.
“Keep your voice down.”
But no one around us paid us any mind—they were too busy enjoying the city. And right now, that wasn’t even what mattered most to me!
“How can you even see something like that?! That’s the kind of thing only perverts do!”
“I only said I could see it. I never said I actually looked.”
“But you knew I didn’t have many undergarments! That means you must have seen me wearing them!”
I was about to jump up in protest, but Sikar remained indifferent and aloof.
“Why do you assume I could only see that through your memories?”
“Then… how did you know…?”
“I saw it through Vika’s memories.”
“Vika knows all that…?”
“Vika may not have much to do as a butler, but she is the butler of Duke Blake’s household. Even if she pretends otherwise, she knows everything that goes on here—apparently she overheard the maids talking.”
Considering how sharp-eared Vika was, that made sense.
“So you saw Vika eavesdropping on the maids?”
“Yes. But if you felt you were short on undergarments, why didn’t you just tell the maids instead of staying silent?”
“I didn’t even know I could ask the maids for that. Meiri has no money, so I was planning to buy some next time we came into the city.”
“Meiri may have no money, but if you tell her, she’ll speak to the head maid, who’ll simply charge it to a blank check. So from now on, tell Meiri everything.”
“I didn’t know it worked like that. Alright, I’ll do that from now on.”
I agreed, but still felt slightly uneasy. Surely he wasn’t lying about not looking—having secretly peeked at my undergarment-wearing memories?

I took two emerald brooches from my room and placed them in Meiri’s hands.
“One is for you, and the other is for Sadie.”
Meiri looked at the brooches in her hands, overwhelmed with emotion.
“Is it really alright to accept these…?”

Meiri clutched the brooches tightly in both hands, buried her face, and wept.

Seeing Meiri carefully tuck the brooch into her pocket as if it were something incredibly precious, I briefly wondered if I should have given her a more expensive blue sapphire instead.
“I’ll help you change clothes right away.”

After changing, I went to Sikar’s room. On the large table inside sat numerous jewelry boxes he’d bought today.
Dressed comfortably, Sikar pointed at the boxes as if showing them off.
“They’re all yours. Go ahead and pick out what you’ll wear for Gillian’s wedding.”
Looking at the jewelry boxes piled high on the table, Sikar suddenly didn’t seem like a villain anymore—but rather, a hero.
“All of this is really mine?”
“Of course. I chose only the most expensive pieces, thinking you’d want to impress me.”
Fine. Just for these jewels today, I’ll accept whatever you say to me.

Honestly? Good job Sikar. The twins (especially Luid) and brats and should stop fighting all the time. Their dad isn’t doing get there. And I’m not a fan of the “gentle parenting” when the kids are absolute terrors that need a more firm hand.
I wonder if Sikar is starting to get slightly jealous of Kian and his interactions with Yura?
Sikar doesn’t know how to handle his jealousy so he just delivers death threats…
