[Full] The Villain Found Out This is a Novel (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 13
“Lucy. Do you have any idea how worried your father was?”
Lucy, who had been burrowing into bed to go to sleep, pulled the blanket up to the very top of her head out of guilt. Seeing Lucy like this, Raydocs realized it was finally time.
“Lucy. I’d planned to tell you once you were a bit older, but it seems the time has come now.”
Lucy, who had been hiding completely under the blanket, lowered it slightly and peeked her head out. Since her father always spoke kindly to her, Lucy simply wore her usual bright and cheerful expression.
“What do you mean, Dad?”
‘How many times had I hesitated because of that bright smile?’
But he could no longer afford to delay. For his daughter’s sake, he had to tell her the truth now.
“Lucy.”
“Yeah, Dad. Go ahead.”
Though still young, Lucy couldn’t sense anything unusual from Raydocs’ solemn expression. She simply stared at him with bright, expectant eyes, eager to hear what her father would say.
That made Raydocs’ heart ache even more. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he fought back his own rising emotions as if his heart were being gnawed at.
“Your mother is no longer in the land of fairies.”
To Lucy, those words sounded like wonderful news. She burst into a wide smile and sat up abruptly.
“Then? Is Mama coming back now?”
“No. Your mother can never come back here again.”
Lucy’s big, round eyes immediately began to tremble as if she might burst into tears at any moment.
“Why?”
“Because your mother has become a star in the sky.”
“A star? So I can’t see Mama anymore?”
Lucy already knew that when people died, they became stars in the sky—and once they became stars, they could never be seen again.
Hence, tears slowly began to gather at the corners of Lucy’s eyes. Still, she tried to hold them back, her breath hitching as she fought not to cry.
“When you become a grandmother, you’ll be able to see your mother.”
“When do I become a grandmother?”
Seeing Lucy fighting so hard not to cry touched Raydocs’ heart deeply. Gently wiping away the tears forming at the corners of her eyes with his thumb, he said softly,
“Not until a very long time from now.”
“B-But, Mama… why, why… sob… isn’t she in the fairy land anymore?”
Watching Lucy struggle to finish her sentence through her choked sobs, Raydocs felt his own eyes grow slightly moist.
“Your mother was such a radiant person that heaven called her away early.”
At that moment, Lucy’s floodgates opened. She began wailing loudly, tears like pearls streaming down from her wide eyes.
“Waaaahhh…! Mama! Mama! Maaamaaa…! Hooeeeng…!”
Lucy cried as if her heart would break, her voice shaking the whole room. Raydocs, unable to hold back his own tears any longer, wrapped her in his arms and gently patted her back.
Though he had already steeled himself, his heart ached far more than he had anticipated.
He knew Lucy would likely burst into tears at the slightest provocation for a while, but he couldn’t just let her keep leaving the house in the dead of winter.
“Your mother will always watch over you from the sky. But if you keep crying like this, Mama will be so sad. Lucy, you have to stop now.”
But Lucy couldn’t hear those words at all. All she felt was the sorrow of never seeing her mother again. Her tears showed no sign of stopping.
Raydocs kept gently patting Lucy’s back until she finally cried herself to sleep.
Though his heart ached as he wiped the remaining tears from Lucy’s sleeping face, there was nothing more he could do. Just as he let out a sigh and stood up, he noticed Duchess Blake’s shawl hanging on the chair.
Duke Blake had seemed intent on reducing the king to a mere puppet and ruling the kingdom himself. At first, his actions clearly suggested he believed this kingdom belonged to Blake, not Recador. Yet unexpectedly, his path had taken an utterly unforeseen turn.
Everyone had assumed Duke Blake would marry into the royal family—either the princess’s relatives or the sister of the king’s trusted aide, Hiram Nominate—as part of his power expansion.
Instead, he abruptly married a foreign woman of unknown status. Back then, everyone was certain there must be some hidden motive behind it.
But the Blake couple Raydocs had seen today didn’t seem like a pair united by political convenience.
Though they appeared outwardly reserved, their quiet bickering resembled that of lovers who had naturally grown into a married couple.
Raydocs could hardly believe his eyes—Duke Blake had never struck him as someone capable of genuine love.
Moreover, Duchess Blake was unlike any noblewoman he’d ever met. The way she gulped down cold water and set her cup down roughly was something he’d never witnessed among aristocratic ladies.
To think that beside a duke who looked even the king down as beneath his feet would stand a mistress so utterly unpretentious—it was something he could never have believed without seeing it himself.
Thankfully, we managed to return to the Duke’s mansion before nightfall.
But as soon as we walked through the gates, we saw Kian carrying water buckets across the courtyard. Even Sikar, who rarely showed any expression, frowned deeply this time.
Sikar strode over and lifted the bucket Kian was carrying.
“Who told you to do such work?!”
Before Kian could even calm his startled heart, Sikar’s thunderous voice made him flinch, and he hung his head dejectedly.

I wanted to comfort Kian, but Sikar looked so furious that I couldn’t easily step in.
“No one told me to.”
“Then why are you doing it if no one ordered you?”
Seeing Kian silently bowing his head without a word, Sikar spoke as if he couldn’t bear to look at him any longer.
“Go up to your room.”
Kian’s shoulders slumped as he walked back into the mansion. Watching him leave, Sikar called over a servant with an angry scowl.
“Why was Kian carrying water?”
A servant hurried over and bowed deeply before Sikar.
“W-Well, we did tell him not to, but the boy insisted he needed to do something like this to be allowed to stay in the mansion…”
Ah, Kian…
I recalled how he’d once fetched water at Raydocs’ house, terrified of being expelled. Sikar seemed to remember it too—he glanced at me once and gave a nod. That meant the original plot was back on track.
“Listen carefully. Kian will become my child from now on. If any of you are ever caught letting him do menial chores again, you will all face severe punishment.”
All the servants bowed their heads anxiously and chorused in unison.
“Yes, Your Grace!”
Sikar’s fierce declaration cast a chilling atmosphere over the entire mansion. I leaned in and whispered quietly, eager to escape that icy tension.
“I’ll go check on Kian.”
Sikar nodded in understanding.
First, I instructed Andrea that once Kian’s clothes arrived, they should be left outside his door rather than delivered directly inside. Then, I went to find Kian’s room.
Hesitating about whether to knock, I gently opened the door and stepped in. Kian, sitting on the bed with a defeated look, started to get up when he saw me.
“No, stay there. I’ll come to you.”
“I’m sorry, Madam. I wanted to be useful… but now everyone else got scolded because of me… The Duke will probably send me away, won’t he?”
Ah, so that’s why he looked so utterly crushed—he feared being cast out.
“Kian, you’re just a child. Children don’t have to work to prove they’re useful. Leave the servants’ tasks to the servants.”
Kian looked confused.
His father Valije had taught him that to survive alone after his death, he had to become someone useful—so no one would ever cast him aside.
Thus, Kian had never learned how else to live, except through being useful.
“Your job is simply to eat well, stay healthy, and grow up strong—just like any other child.”
“My job is to grow up well?”
“Yes. And Kian, there’s something I want to tell you.”
Kian, having just been scolded, looked terrified—as if I might expel him any second.
I kept opening and closing my mouth, repeatedly starting to speak and then stopping.
Because of Sikar’s warning, I had to tell Kian I was his birth mother—but the words refused to come out.
I was the kind of preschool teacher who taught children that lying was bad, yet now I had to commit the ultimate betrayal of nature by lying to a child. How could those words come easily?
Of course, I truly wanted to become his real mother—to comfort him and pull him out of his nightmares—but I couldn’t bring myself to tell such a lie to this young child.
‘Fine. I won’t lie to Kian, at least.’
It would be enough if I only claimed him as my son in front of others.
Taking Kian’s hand as he looked up at me with fearful eyes, I spoke with solemn sincerity.
“Kian, we’d like to adopt you.”
He probably hadn’t expected this at all. Kian’s eyes widened even further as he asked in astonishment,
“A-Adopt me?”
“If you’re okay with it, we’d really like to raise you properly.”
“But… I… I’m not an orphan… I… I have a mother.”
Just as I thought—he still longed for his mother even while resenting her. Thinking of how Kian had always carried the image of a mother he’d never even seen in his heart made me feel even more pity for him.
Indeed, I couldn’t deceive such an angelic child by claiming to be his real mother. I held Kian’s hand tightly.
“Until your birth mother appears, could I become your mother for now?”
“You’d become my mother? But… why?”
“How could anyone not want to adopt a beautiful child like you? And we truly want to protect you.”
This wasn’t just because of Sikar’s threat—it was my genuine wish. Though Lucy was my favorite character in this novel, I also deeply cared for the protagonists Kian and Luid.
“R-Really?”
“Yes. But in return, I need you to make me one promise: think of me as your real mother.”

“Huh?”
“If anyone ever asks, you must say I’m your birth mother. That way, no one will look down on you. I can’t stand seeing my own son treated with disrespect.”
“I… I’ll become your real son, Madam?”
“Though we don’t share blood, I believe we can form an even stronger bond than that.”
After all, becoming the mother of this world’s protagonist was an honor for me too.
“Of course, if you say no, we won’t adopt you.”
But I already knew—Kian, starved for an adult’s love, would never refuse this offer.
I remembered how much he’d envied the twins in the original story—how desperately he’d longed for a family.
Kian cautiously folded his hands together and asked timidly, glancing up at me with uncertainty.
“S-So… Madam… will you really become my… m… mother?”
“Yes. So from now on, call me ‘Mother.’”
His eyes drooped for just a moment—then suddenly widened again.
“M-Mother?”
Kian only ever called out for ‘Mother’ in his nightmares or when he was ill. How could he possibly say that unfamiliar word so easily now?
“Kian, if it feels uncomfortable, you don’t have to call me…”
“M… Mother…!”
