The Only Healer, Ruela (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 2
It was right at that moment.
Thud.
“Ouch!”
Just as she was about to step out of the ballroom, she collided hard with someone coming in. She nearly toppled backward, but fortunately, the other person quickly caught her, sparing her from embarrassment.
“……!”
Was this what it felt like to hit a wall? She almost bounced right off.
A soft exclamation drifted down from above her head.
“Oh dear……”
Still flustered, Ruela scolded him lightly while gripping the arm that had steadied her.
“You really ought to watch where you’re going.”
She’d strutted out feeling rather proud of herself, only to nearly suffer humiliation—no wonder her words came out sharp. Once her temper slipped its leash, there was no holding back.
“A beautiful face paired with such an ungracious tone.”
A deep, low, and captivating voice.
The moment she heard it, she wondered if his face matched his voice in handsomeness. So she gently lifted her gaze—and immediately swallowed a startled breath.
It was the man from earlier, the one she’d seen only from behind. She recognized him instantly, even without seeing his face—after all, there couldn’t possibly be two men in this entire party with such towering height and robust build that she’d have to crane her neck fully just to meet his eyes.
Eyes the rich red of fine wine, a nose like a veiled blade, lips tracing perfect curves, and a sharply defined jawline. In a word, he was so stunningly handsome—no, beautiful—that it drew an involuntary gasp.
For a moment, she stared at him, utterly spellbound. Only when he blinked did she snap back to her senses.
The man smiled gently and spoke.
“You didn’t check ahead either, so shall we just call it a mutual mistake and let it go?”
Since he wasn’t wrong, Ruela lowered her eyes and gave a slight nod.
Even though she’d agreed, he still didn’t release her arm. Hiding her fluster, she said to him,
“Fine. Since we both made a mistake, let’s just drop it here.”
He was undeniably handsome, but she wanted more than anything to quickly escape this unpleasant place and go home.
“As you wish.”
“Then… could you please let go of me now?”
He still hadn’t released Ruela’s forearm—the very one he’d grabbed when she nearly fell.
“Should I?”
Yet contrary to his words, one of his fingers slowly traced the sensitive inner skin of her forearm. His touch felt strangely suggestive.
‘I must be imagining things.’
Surely he wouldn’t dare act like that in a place like this.
She tried quietly to pull her arm away, but his grip was too strong. In the end, she had to ask again, this time with words.
“Let go. You’re going to bruise me.”
“Oh, my apologies.”
He released her forearm hastily, as if he hadn’t realized, yet a faint smile lingered on his lips.
Ruela wanted to flee quickly to hide her flushed face, but he stood firmly blocking the doorway, unmoving.
“Move aside.”
“Really?”
“What on earth are you talking about?”
For some reason, he seemed to have ulterior motives. But the close proximity to him was far too overwhelming, so she roughly shoved his broad chest and pushed her way out.
Fortunately, he apparently hadn’t intended to block her completely, and obediently stepped aside.
Unfairly enough, even the way he twisted the corner of his mouth into a smile was strikingly handsome.
Ruela, who had been about to leave just like that, turned back on impulse and looked up at his face. The man tilted his head, as if asking, “What is it?”
“Why stop after you’d already started to go?”
“I just realized—if I left like this, you’d probably think I was ridiculous.”
With a faint smile playing at her lips, she stomped down as hard as she could on his foot with the sharp heel of her shoe. The man, who had seemed immovable just moments before, staggered.
“Ugh!”
Feeling satisfyingly avenged, Ruela lifted her chin high and strode out of the ballroom.
“Well? Was she as rumored?”
“What do you mean?”
“Did she fall for your charms? You showed off your full arsenal, didn’t you?”

Kite glared at Hazen, who had just quietly emerged from a corner.
“What ‘arsenal’ are you talking about?”
“I only learned today—the smoldering gaze, the wicked fingers, that deep, low voice dripping with intent.”
Kite’s expression darkened at his friend’s teasing words.
“Wicked fingers? Let me make this clear—I never intended to seduce her.”
“Weren’t you the one who lost the bet? It was my job to seduce her! What’s this? Did you jump the gun while I was in the restroom?”
“……That’s not it.”
“If I’d done it, she would’ve fallen for me instantly.”
His friend’s remark oddly grated on his nerves.
“She wasn’t like the rumors at all.”
“Not like the rumors? How so?”
Kite looked toward the direction the woman had just exited and said,
“She blushed because she was flustered.”
Hazen shrugged, clearly skeptical of his assessment.
“But she really did get involved with both Lord Balder and Sir Sedes, right?”
At Hazen’s words, Kite replayed the earlier encounter in his mind.
If that scandal had driven her to attempt suicide, it couldn’t have been mere rumor. Yet after actually speaking with her, she seemed like an entirely different person.
“She’s not what we thought she was.”
Kite stated firmly.
“You don’t mean to say…”
“What? What are you getting at?”
“You haven’t fallen for Ruela Romnin’s charms, have you?”
“Don’t be absurd!”
“Well, seeing her in person, she really is astonishingly captivating—that’s just a fact.”
At Hazen’s words, Kite recalled Ruela Romnin’s appearance.
Skin as white as snow, pink hair shimmering with silver, blue eyes like jewels, a perfectly sculpted face, a delicate figure, and a gentle voice……
“Can’t you understand why men like Balder and Sir Sedes would go so far as to draw swords over her?”
Hazen’s prodding, as if urging him to admit it quickly, made Kite furrow his brow.
“Looks aren’t everything.”
“That’s true enough. So what’ll you do?”
“Do what?”
“Will you include her in our plan?”
At the word “plan,” Kite’s expression hardened. He still felt uneasy about using people.
“Even if the rumors had been true, we’d have had no choice—but given how things stand now, she passes for now.”
“Fair enough. After all the effort you went through to save her, you can’t just cast her aside just because she’s ‘fond of men,’ can you?”
Kite looked down at his hand. He remembered the flustered look on her face the moment his touch had landed.
Recalling those trembling blue eyes, Kite shook his head as if refusing to accept it.
“‘Fond of men’… Could that woman from earlier really be the same one who went back and forth between Balder and Sir Sedes?”
Hazen stared openly at Kite, who seemed lost in thought, then laughed. It was rare indeed to see him like this in front of others.
“We can’t know for sure right now. Let’s not worry about her personal inclinations.”
He gave Kite’s arm a light tap, wrapping up the conversation.
“Let’s just remember this: Ruela Romnin is the healer who’s appeared for the first time in hundreds of years.”
“My lady, please wake up.”
“What time is it?”
[AM 08:02]The next day, despite seeing the clock floating right before her eyes, Ruela absentmindedly asked the time upon hearing her maid’s call.
Is this just my habit?
“It’s past eight in the morning. Lord Balder Gilma and Sir Sedes have returned from the capital, so they might visit at any moment. Please hurry and get ready—start with breakfast.”
From the various stories she’d heard over the past two days—since her memory remained—she could guess that something had happened between her and those two men. But weren’t those relationships already over? Why did she still have to care about them?
Yet no matter how hard she tried to search her missing memories, she’d never find an answer.

To shake off this headache of a problem, she headed to the bathroom. After washing up and sitting at her vanity, her maid began brushing her hair and said,
“I’m worried about what result he might have brought back.”
“What result?”
“Lord Balder went to the capital to petition His Majesty about your matter, remember?”
“Oh!”
Though she’d never heard this before, she tried her best to stay calm and simply nodded.
“Please stay strong.”
The maid spoke carefully after finishing her hair. Ruela blinked in surprise—what was she talking about?
“I—I believe in you, my lady. Even though you couldn’t refuse Lord Balder Gilma’s proposal, you truly love Sir Sedes, don’t you?”
Others called her a shameless flirt for going between two men—so why was this maid different?
“Aren’t you disgusted or frightened by me?”
Over the past two days, she’d clearly seen how the servants flinched and watched her warily at just one glance or sigh from her. She also knew they secretly looked at her with contempt while pretending to be afraid. But this maid before her was different.
“I am a bit scared, but not disgusted or anything like that. I don’t think you’re that kind of person—you’re different from what people say.”
“Different?”
“Yes. Though I’ve only served you for two days, I’m certain the rumors are exaggerated.”
Two days?
That was around the same time her memory vanished and the maid was replaced.
What happened before? Was there an accident? But the current maid’s demeanor didn’t seem unusually cautious, as if tending to a patient.
“What did you say your name was?”
“I’m Shuna. I mentioned it when I greeted you the day before yesterday…”
The maid answered with a somber expression. Despite saying she was scared, she showed remarkable composure.
But the fact that she’d lost her memory was still a secret from everyone. If they realized she’d become a different person, it would cause trouble—so to avoid suspicion, Ruela deliberately snapped coldly,
“Are you saying I should remember your name right now?”
“Oh—no, no, my lady!”
Shuna quickly shook her head.
“If I ask for your name, you’ll answer ten or even a hundred times—that’s all you need to do, understand?”
“Yes, my lady.”
“I’m hungry. I need to eat.”
Last night, after returning from the party, she’d collapsed into sleep as if fainting. Now that she thought about it, she hadn’t eaten anything at the party either—meaning she hadn’t had a bite since lunch yesterday.

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife
I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro
When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.
After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.
Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.
Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.
At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.
Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.
The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.
He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.
[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
