The Only Healer, Ruela (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 4
“My goodness! Miss, Miss!”
Shuna rushed over and shook her body frantically.
“Ow, that hurts!”
Unable to endure it, she cried out—and the screen before her flickered, vanished, then reappeared. Soon after, a crisp, clear chime rang out, and a message gently floated into view.
[Welcome to the world of Helane.]Ruela stared blankly at the screen with a dazed expression. The familiar alert sound and the word “Helane”—the moment she saw it, it was as if a sudden flash of inspiration struck her, and she remembered who she was.
“My frequently played game.”
The familiar system and interface she hadn’t recalled just moments ago.
It was the system of “Helane,” the most popular MMORPG game.
Helane was a game where classes such as Warrior, Summoner, Mage, Archer, Swordsman, Shaman, and Healer gathered together to run dungeons and defeat boss monsters.
The game had just concluded its final expansion pack and was planning Season 2, generating much anticipation with its announced addition of a large-scale war simulation against other races.
Ruela gazed blankly at the screen.
Perhaps she didn’t feel any sense of unfamiliarity despite the strange window appearing before her eyes because it was a game she played often.
A hollow laugh escaped her lips.
She’d tried to forget her memories, yet they’d returned instead.
Now she realized she wasn’t a “Miss” but an ordinary office worker from South Korea.
Whether from shock or joy at regaining her memories, her laughter wouldn’t stop. Lying on the floor, giggling like a madwoman, she heard Shuna’s relieved voice.
“Does it hurt badly? At least you fell from a low height, so it’s fortunate.”
Fortunate? Thinking that would be troublesome.
Ruela quickly shut her eyes, realizing her mistake.
Her memories had returned, but something was wrong. First, she needed to cancel her upcoming schedule, so she had to pretend to be in pain.
She needed to feign amnesia just to figure out who this “her” really was.
Lying down, she clutched her head and let out a loud groan.
“Oww, my… my head hurts so much…”
Her voice trailed off faintly as she delivered a masterful performance, prompting the gathered servants to start whispering among themselves.
Ruela closed her eyes again.
“Did you hurt your head?”
“Quickly, take Miss to her bedroom.”
“Miss, please try to regain your senses.”
“Call the physician at once!”
It seemed everyone in the house had rushed over. Peeking through half-closed eyes, she even spotted the head chef standing there, knife in hand.
Soon someone scooped her up and ran. After a short while, her body was laid onto a soft bed, and once it grew quiet, she cautiously opened her eyes.
“Miss, are you all right?”
She’d thought no one was there, but the loyal maid Shuna looked down at her with a worried expression.
“The physician will arrive shortly. Please lie still for a moment. I’ll bring something for a compress.”
The moment Shuna left, Ruela bolted upright and stared at the screen before her. The interface, which had been simple just before she fell down the stairs, had now grown complex.
Buttons for Logout, Map, Skills, Bag, Quests, and Class had appeared, though none were active yet.
Ruela pressed various options, lost in thought.
What on earth had happened?
Her last memory was crossing the street to catch a bus—but suddenly she was inside a game?
She rose from the bed and looked into the mirror. The face she’d believed was hers until just a moment ago now stood facing her in the reflection.
It felt strangely unfamiliar, and Ruela covered her face with her hands.
Then, staggering back to the bed, she collapsed onto it as if fainting.
She must have somehow entered another person’s body—specifically, that of a pretty-faced, ill-mannered brat.
“Miss!”
Still dazed and staring blankly at the ceiling, she heard Shuna burst in urgently.
“Lord Balder has arrived. He says he’s come to give you one last chance before enforcing what’s written on the posted notice.”
“A last chance?”
“Yes. He’s already obtained His Majesty the King’s official seal on the engagement contract. All you need to do is sign it…”
“Engagement? Do I really have to get engaged to that man?”
Trending
Shuna cried out with a look as if she might faint, startled by Ruela’s shocked expression.
“Miss, what’s wrong with you?”
Ruela clutched her head and sat up.
“I don’t remember anything—nothing at all. I must have hit my head when I fell earlier.”
“But there’s no cut or bleeding…”
“Then just accept that! I need rest from the shock of the fall, so tell Balder or whoever he is to leave. And make sure to tell him I absolutely will not go through with any engagement!”
“Miss…”
An engagement? To a man whose face she didn’t even know? This was even more horrifying than her current state of not knowing who she was.
Ruela pulled the blanket over herself and curled up.
Too many things had hit her all at once; her mind refused to work any longer. She needed to rest and think.
Since she’d pretended to lose her memory, she’d probably have to hold out for a while before escaping. She’d noticed yesterday there were quite a few valuables—selling them would surely support her for some time.
“Gasp!”
She’d only meant to rest briefly, yet she’d fallen asleep.
Beyond the open curtains, the sky was pitch black. Night had already fallen.
“Miss, are you awake?”
“What time…”
The habitual question she’d ask when her mother woke her died on her lips. This wasn’t her original home, and she could tell the time from the clock floating before her eyes.
“It’s just past eight in the evening. You were supposed to attend the party by now… Madam must be very angry.”
“Is going to a party really that important?”
“I haven’t been here long, so I don’t know much. I was only told to send you to the party every evening. Madam strictly ordered that you must not return before ten-thirty.”
“This isn’t Cinderella.”
No, it was different from Cinderella. There was a clear difference between having to return by a certain time and being forbidden to return before a certain time.
“This isn’t the time for such pointless thoughts!”
Ruela tugged at her hair and asked,
“Did that fellow Balder leave?”
She hadn’t even seen him, yet just from what she’d heard, she already disliked him intensely. Not only did he bring up an engagement she couldn’t recall agreeing to, but his manner of delivering the message was unbearably arrogant.
“He left in a towering rage. He came immediately, saying he’d enforce the notice as posted, and claimed he’d forgive you if you begged.”
“Forgive? For what? Ah! Is he expecting me to apologize for playing both sides?”
“Miss!”
As Shuna lowered her gaze with an embarrassed expression, commotion erupted outside the bedroom.
“Open it.”
A delicate female voice rang out.
Bang.
The door crashed open without so much as a knock, slamming against the wall with a loud noise.
“Drag her out!”
“Yes.”
Before she could fully grasp the situation, a group of servants surged in, seized both her arms, and yanked Ruela off the bed.
“Let go! What’s this outrageous behavior? Why are you suddenly doing this?”
She shouted fiercely in resistance, causing the servants to flinch and release her.
“Did you just ask why?”
As those who’d tried to drag her stepped aside, the woman whose voice she’d heard finally came into view.
White hair, enormous black eyes with barely any visible whites, and an expressionless face—Ruela felt an inexplicable chill run down her spine.
The petite, slender woman, barely over 150 cm tall, spoke in a tone devoid of emotion.
“Because of what you’ve done.”
“What did I do? What exactly did I do? Besides, I just fell down the stairs and hurt my head! How can you treat an injured person like this?”
“For someone who supposedly hurt her head, your voice is remarkably strong and your body shows no signs of injury, so leaving here shouldn’t be a problem. Drag her out.”
She was utterly flustered. She’d planned to escape, but not like this—completely unprepared.
Ruela quickly put on a pitiful expression and pleaded,
“I don’t even know who I am! I don’t know where this place is! And you want to throw me out? From my own home?”
“It’s my home. You and your brother came in without a single coin to your names.”

“My brother? Then who are you?”
The woman gave a cold, sly smile.
“Your acting skills truly are impressive. Anyone who doesn’t know you would believe you’ve genuinely lost your memory.”
“I’m telling the truth! Why won’t you believe me? I really don’t know who you are!”
“I am the mistress of this house and your brother’s wife. Ah, and since you claim you can’t leave because you know nothing, I’ll tell you: your name is Ruela Romnin, this is the Camun Mansion, and I am the Viscountess Camun.”
The woman’s explanation only deepened Ruela’s confusion. She couldn’t help but tilt her head and ask,
“You’re my brother’s wife? Then why do I have a different surname?”
“Because my father granted your brother a viscountcy. It wouldn’t make sense for him to marry me without a noble title, would it?”
“Call my brother.”
She couldn’t afford to be thrown out like this—she had to hold her ground. No matter that he was a son-in-law, he was still her brother and a viscount. She believed he wouldn’t let this matter go unaddressed, so she demanded again—but the woman claiming to be her sister-in-law merely sneered.
“What? Did you really lose your memory?”
“I told you, I don’t know anything!”
Her sister-in-law suddenly burst into loud laughter.
“Good heavens! After committing such an outrageous act, you conveniently claim to have lost your memory?”
“I don’t even know what this ‘outrageous act’ is!”
Her sister-in-law stopped laughing. She glared at Ruela with eyes full of malice.
“Your brother is gone. Because of what you did, he went around declaring he’d duel to protect his younger sister’s honor—and ended up dead. And your brother was your only family.”
“He’s dead?”
Unable to believe the reality that she had no one left to rely on, she muttered to herself—when the woman coldly issued her order.
“Drag her out immediately. If she utters even one more word, gag her!”
