How to Divorce a Obsessive Emperor Safely (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
“I’d like to have a meal first.”
Outwardly calm, Lasilia’s mind was in utter chaos.
‘Contact is only necessary during the Blue Moon, right? So it probably isn’t needed today. He only brushed his lips against mine earlier. If contact were truly essential, would he have done just that? ……Yes, exactly—so not today.’
Of course, she had pushed him away herself, telling him not to.
‘It won’t happen…… He clearly said he’d see me in the evening. Sharing a bed…… So if contact were necessary, he would’ve suggested meeting at night, wouldn’t he?’
Reskal had indeed meant dinner. The reason the atmosphere had shifted so awkwardly was Lasilia’s own doing—she’d unknowingly chosen her wedding-night nightgown. It was simply unfortunate that Lasilia remained completely oblivious to this fact.
‘Right. Stay calm. Not today. ……No, really not today.’
“Then.”
Reskal, utterly unaware of the thoughts swirling in Lasilia’s head, obediently nodded.
This had never happened before.
Ever since the Empress lost her memory, Reskal had strangely begun listening closely to her words—a change even he himself hadn’t yet recognized.
“Sit here.”
Reskal pulled out a chair at the dining table.
As he moved his arm, the robe Count Persson had so meticulously tailored to balance modesty and exposure slipped slightly, briefly revealing his chest.
Flustered, Lasilia instinctively turned her head aside.
“Why’s that?”
Lasilia fixed her gaze determinedly into empty space as she replied.
“Do you normally dine in such a careless state of dress?”
“……”
Reskal froze for a moment.
“Don’t you like it?”
“Having lost my memory, everything feels unfamiliar. I simply wondered if this is really suitable attire for a meal.”
“……”
Reskal stiffened again briefly.
“It might not be very comfortable.”
“Exactly.”
“But it would be comfortable for sharing a bed. There’s nothing else left to take off, after all.”
“What— ……!”
She nearly cried out.
‘Not today? Of course it is! It’s obviously exactly that!’
This time, it was Lasilia who froze.
Reskal, watching her silent form, thankfully offered these words:
“Shall I have you change clothes?”
“Now, you mean?”
“If you say it doesn’t please you.”
This was her chance. No need to think further.
“Yes. It doesn’t please me.”
“……I see.”
Squeak.
Reskal finished pulling out the chair.
“Sit and wait. It won’t take long.”
“Yes.”
Yet Reskal, who had seemed ready to storm off and scold the steward at any moment, stood still, his hand resting on the chair back.
“……?”
“Come sit.”
“Oh……”
Lasilia slowly took hesitant steps forward.
Swish.
When Lasilia finally sat down, Reskal gently pushed the chair forward.
But that wasn’t all. While adjusting the chair, he tilted his head and inhaled deeply near her hair. Recalling what he’d done earlier that day, Lasilia flinched and quickly shifted her body aside.
Trending
Reskal muttered softly.
“……How did you know? I hadn’t even touched you.”
“……”
That meant Lasilia had sensed his intention—just as before, when he’d been about to press his lips somewhere on her body after smelling her—and reacted before he could act.
‘What on earth? Weren’t they supposed to be on bad terms?’
Judging by the Emperor’s current behavior, there was no trace of such tension.
Though Lasilia herself was equally ignorant about matters between men and women, she at least understood that constantly seeking physical contact whenever possible was the exact opposite of being estranged.
‘Why does he seem so frantic, like that dog we kept in the temple courtyard?’
The Emperor of Eliaeden was far too grand and dazzling to be called a puppy, yet his actions bore a faint resemblance.
That dog, tied up in the courtyard, would whine and rush toward Lasilia every time she passed by. If she held him once, he’d lick her all over and wag his tail so furiously it nearly vanished.
“……No, I still want to do it.”
The Emperor, whispering those words, quickly leaned his head sideways and pressed a kiss to Lasilia’s cheek.
“Huh!”
Lasilia jerked her head away, but it was too late. A sensation warmer than mere warmth—almost hot—lingered on her cheek.
“I’ll be right back.”
The Emperor turned his body slowly, casting a gaze at her so intense it felt as scorching as his lips, before finally leaving.
“……This won’t do!”
The moment the Emperor left, Lasilia sprang to her feet. Her hand was unconsciously rubbing the spot on her cheek where his lips had touched.
Beyond whether she liked or disliked it, that unfamiliar sensation was simply too intense. Lasilia had never experienced anything like it before, leaving her utterly bewildered.
She was frightened that a man who might kill her if he discovered her true identity was now causing her such confusion.
“I can’t stay here any longer.”
Thinking could wait.
Right now, escaping this place was her priority.
Now that she looked again, she understood why this room was so dim. Lit only by candles instead of oil lamps, its cozy atmosphere hinted at something far stickier and more intimate than a mere kiss on the cheek.
Lasilia, heading toward the door through which the Emperor had just vanished, abruptly halted.
Come to think of it, there had to be guards posted. After all, this was the same Emperor who’d just stationed so many guards at the Empress’s quarters.
Clack! Thud!
Lasilia turned toward the opposite side and opened the window. Just as the Empress’s chamber had a ledge, the Emperor’s should too. Since the Shadow Knight had come and gone through windows, she ought to find a way as well.
“……There isn’t one.”
To her dismay, the Emperor’s window was perfectly smooth—no protruding sill or decorative ledge whatsoever. Though the wall was intricately carved, there was nowhere to place a foothold.
“What should I do?”
Lasilia’s pale face twisted in dismay as she uttered those words.
“Gu gu! Gu gu!”
“Kaaawk!”
Birds whose appearances now seemed familiar flew toward her.
“Could it be…… you came here on purpose for me?”
—We’re coming, coming! We come when you call!
She didn’t understand how, but these birds not only spoke—they were helping her.
“I need to get away from here. But the door is probably guarded. Is there another way?”
Though it felt absurd, Lasilia asked the birds anyway.
—No, no. Humans have no wings.
—It’s high, high. Humans will fall, fall.
“Then…… is there any way to keep the Emperor from coming back?”
—No, no.
—We can’t, can’t. You’ll die.
—Yes, yes. Emperor’s temper bad, bad.
Lasilia hurriedly continued.
“It’s just that I shouldn’t be alone with the Emperor right now. If I could just hide somewhere briefly…… as long as we’re not alone together.”
—……?
The birds tilted their heads, exchanged glances, then replied:
ads
—Then yes, yes.
Flap!
A bird with glossy black feathers swiftly flew off. The object it brought back from the sky was a suspiciously vivid red fruit.
Plop.
The bird carefully placed it beside Lasilia’s hand.
—Eat it. You’ll sleep.
—Then even if you’re together, you’ll be alone.
Lasilia beamed.
“Exactly! You’re all so clever. Yes, this will work.”
Delighted by her praise, the birds proudly fluttered their tail feathers.
—Happy, happy.
—Thank you, thank you.
—We’ll come when you call, come!
Leaving behind those endearing words, the birds flew away.
Just as Lasilia closed the window and returned to the dining table, subtly mixing the black bird’s fruit into the fruit platter, the Emperor came back.
“It didn’t take long, did it? Just as I said.”
As he entered, the Emperor wore an impeccably tailored formal robe, so sharply pressed it was almost overwhelming to look at.
His previously natural bangs, which had softly covered his forehead, were now neatly swept back. Jeweled cuffs adorned his sleeves, and a matching pendant hung from his indoor mantle draped over the robe.
‘Where should I even look?’
Lasilia blinked at the Emperor’s completely transformed appearance.
‘It feels strangely burdensome.’
He hadn’t dressed this extravagantly even when she’d seen him earlier that day. The Emperor, who’d seemed like a dog just moments ago, now resembled a peacock with its tail fully fanned.
“Or… did it take too long?”
The Emperor grabbed the chair opposite, started to sit, then dragged it over to sit beside Lasilia instead.
“……No. It didn’t take long.”
“Of course not. I hurried, just as I said.”
“……”
She had no idea what he expected her to do.
Lasilia turned her eyes away from his uncomfortably intense gaze fixed on her.
“But why sit beside me?”
“……Sitting opposite would put too much distance between us.”
“Won’t it be hard to eat if you sit so close?”
At that, the Emperor tilted his head slightly in thought.
“……Hmm, maybe so.”
“Then please move back to the opposite side.”
“That won’t do.”
What exactly wouldn’t do?
“Do you mean to stay seated like this?”
“I think I can manage it, even if it’s a bit awkward.”
“……”
Now the Emperor felt less like a peacock and more like a lavishly adorned dog.
“Then let’s eat.”
“……”
He truly was a strange man.
‘Was the rumor about the Empress and him being on bad terms just hearsay? ……No, that can’t be. Marchioness Pashad’s reaction clearly confirmed they were estranged.’
It simply meant the Emperor had begun acting differently, regardless of his true feelings.
‘It must be because of the approaching Blue Moon. He’s desperate for contact.’
For the first time, she felt something other than fear toward the Emperor—perhaps one might call it pity.
Yet apart from pity, the moment he realized she wasn’t his true destined partner, the consequences would be dire.
“I’ll serve you food.”

Therefore, she had to get him to eat that fruit.
Lasilia picked up the empty plate before her and began arranging food onto it, carefully including the fruit the bird had brought.
“Leave that one out.”
Feeding him the fruit proved less straightforward than expected. Holding the fruit in her hand, Lasilia silently asked for the reason with her eyes.
“It’s a fruit I’ve never seen before. There’s a rule against eating unfamiliar foods.”
“Oh…… Is that a royal protocol?”
“We don’t know what might be in it.”
As royalty, he naturally had to be cautious about his food.
‘This is troublesome if he won’t eat it.’
After a brief pause, Lasilia remembered—she was royalty too, at least for now.
“Then let me taste it first.”
“You’d better not.”
“Just a little. If it’s safe for me, surely Your Majesty can eat it too?”
At that moment, Reskal snatched the fruit from Lasilia’s hand.
“Let’s do the opposite.”
“Huh?”
“I’ll taste it first. If it’s safe, then you eat it.”
The Emperor, who’d just insisted on avoiding unknown foods, popped the fingernail-sized, vivid red fruit into his mouth.
‘Just as I thought……’
Lasilia swallowed hard, watching intently as the Emperor chewed and swallowed the fruit.

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

The relationship with Ternaden looks really strange. I mean, the way he behaves around her is so suspicious.
And now I’m even more convinced that Lasilia simply saw Cartagena die because of the ritual, and that’s why she possessed the body and brought back the mark Cartagena used to have, because she is his fated match.
I love Reskal. He’s totally in ‘I saw my chance and I took it’ mode hahahahaha, and since Lasilia is still playing her memory loss card, she can’t question anything he says. I love this man.
Even so, the whole Delarta thing still bothers me. I don’t understand why she’s in such a rush to go there because she’s no longer a prophetess; she’s not Lasilia, she’s Cartagena. Even if she knows the truth, she won’t be able to do anything because she’ll be in the exact same position as she is as Empress—who is going to believe her?
Ugh, I’m still Team Reskal. This man is just everything that is good in this world. He brings her roses, looks for ways to be alone with her, and even moves in just to be with her all the time. And on top of that, he builds her a temple so she can have her prayers to heal… is there anything he can’t do right? hahaha.
The stone seems important; let’s wait and see what comes out of that later.
