How to Divorce a Obsessive Emperor Safely (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
“Hmm… it’s quite far. If we push the carriage to its limits… let me see. Even if we only sleep five hours a day and hurry along the road, it would still take about two months. And we’d have to cross a mountain range along the way.”
Two months. That was how long it took to reach Delarta.
‘Seriously? Just getting there takes two months?’
Including the return journey, it would feel impossibly distant.
Lasilia glanced sideways at the Emperor’s expression. Her hand had been firmly held by him since earlier.
It had started the moment she mentioned wanting to go to Delarta. Since she was the one asking a favor, she couldn’t rudely pull her hand away. Her hand kept warming in his, which was far hotter than her own.
“Two months. Not bad.”
“But why are you asking about that place? It has no contact whatsoever with Eliaeden.”
“The Empress said she needs something from there.”
Lasilia had expected him to refuse because of the distance, so she breathed an inward sigh of relief.
‘Then… can I finally go back now?’
Returning to Delarta wouldn’t necessarily end everything. Above all, she had no idea what the situation in Delarta was like now, or whether Prince Ricardo had left the High Temple untouched.
Yet just the thought of escaping this unfamiliar place already lightened the weight in her heart. If the High Priest trusted her, surely some solution would appear.
“Then it’s my turn now.”
The Emperor tightened his grip on her hand and whispered softly into her ear.
“I’ve heard your request, so I’d like you to hear mine as well.”
If it meant she could go to Delarta, she could manage that much.
“Please speak.”
He wouldn’t suddenly ask for physical contact again—he’d firmly stated that would only happen after his memories returned.
But this wasn’t something to take lightly.
“For those two months, I wish to stay by your side.”
“…What?”
She couldn’t understand what he meant.
“What exactly do you mean by ‘stay by my side,’ Your Majesty?”
“Just as I said.”
“Just as you said?”
“I’ll stay by your side. Always.”
“Always…?”
“So you won’t misremember the past again, as you did today.”
Reskal lifted the hand he was holding and pressed it to his lips.
“I’ll tell you everything, piece by piece.”
That was strange—but the “two months” part was strange too.
“Does that mean… Your Majesty intends to go to Delarta as well?”
“No.”
“Then…?”
Reskal tilted his head in confusion.
“Why would I need to go to Delarta?”
“What?”
“I’ll summon the priest here.”
“…”
Lasilia’s face hardened.
Somehow…
It had been too easy. It couldn’t possibly have been that simple.
[This is the timeline separator]“You look incredibly disappointed.”
Rian approached and whispered softly.
They were preparing a place for the Emperor to stay within the Empress’s quarters. They weren’t building an entirely new room, but there was nearly as much work to do.
While the adjacent chamber bustled with courtiers and servants, Rian remained in the Empress’s bedroom instead of becoming the Emperor’s shadow.
“It’s as if you absolutely had to go to Delarta.”
“…I was simply overwhelmed by His Majesty’s generosity.”
Trending
That was why Lasilia couldn’t stubbornly insist on going to Delarta.
It was extremely unusual for royalty to visit a foreign land for months on end—only war or something similar would justify it.
When she suggested the special prayer might need to be performed at the temple, the Emperor immediately declared he would build a temple of Delarta within the palace grounds.
Right after, the Emperor’s head steward sprang into action.
As if everything had been prepared in advance, the Emperor’s belongings were swiftly moved into the Empress’s quarters one after another.
“Hmph… So that’s how you’re playing it. Fine, I understand.”
Rian absentmindedly tapped a still-fresh Gadenia flower.
“So, Your Majesty, you’re perfectly fine with the Emperor staying by your side constantly from now on—day or night, always?”
No, it couldn’t possibly be fine.
Thinking about it again, she was furious with Count Persson, the head steward.
But there was nothing more she could do. Lasilia decided to focus on the positives.
At least the priest would definitely come, so she’d hear news from Delarta. If she was lucky, she might even contact the High Priest.
For now, that was the best she could manage.
“It’s already decided. I’ve accepted it.”
“Well, when did you become so composed? You used to be the type who’d immediately behead courtiers the moment something displeased you.”
She’d heard the Empress often officially punished servants. The reasons varied, but many claimed theft or insult were merely pretexts for executions.
Lasilia wondered if perhaps those actions had been meant to hide something about the Mark.
“How regrettable. The one who should accept blame can’t remember anything right now.”
“I already know you’re not someone with a proper conscience anyway.”
Rian spoke without hesitation.
It was clear—the Shadow Knights disliked the Empress. That proved the Emperor’s claim of their good relationship was an outrageous lie.
“And that vow of yours is absurd too—saying you’ll make contact only after your memories return. The Blue Moon could rise as early as tomorrow! His Majesty will have to lock himself in his room again and endure that dreadful pain for days.”
“…”
Lasilia didn’t fully understand what kind of pain the Emperor suffered.
If it was agony beyond human endurance, her comprehension would surely have limits.
That was why she needed to return to where she truly belonged. Only when the impostor disappeared could the Emperor find his real partner.
“You may not believe me, but I’m doing my best in my own way.”
“Oh, so your ‘best’ is amnesia?”
“Mocking me is your choice, just as finding it unpleasant to hear is mine. If you have no proper business here, please leave.”
“Well, if you’re chasing me out, I suppose I must go.”
Rian turned sharply on her heel.
But before opening the door, she glanced back at Lasilia once.
“I trust you remember well what I told you before, Your Majesty—the same as the vow I made to His Majesty.”
“…Of course I remember.”
“You must.”
Bang!
Rian closed the door and vanished.
[This is the timeline separator]Squeak! Squeak!
Coo-oo!
The moment Rian left, birds began pecking at the window and crying out.
Lasilia checked the closed door once more, then opened the window.
“What is it? I didn’t call you.”
—That woman, that woman.
—She’s spiteful, spiteful.
—Torment her, torment her.
Lasilia gave a soft chuckle.
“So you’ve come again to chase her away? It’s fine—she’s already gone.”
—Already gone? Gone?
—No, no!

This time, the black bird stepped forward.
—Torment her, torment her!
Flap!
Before Lasilia could stop it, the black bird flew off abruptly.
“No, don’t!”
Lasilia cried out, but it was too late.
“I didn’t really torment her much—just said a few words… Well, not yet, anyway.”
Not yet—meaning until the moment she was exposed as an impostor.
What would happen afterward was the real problem.
Lasilia shook her head with a bitter smile.
“I suppose there’s no helping it. You all go and stop that bird.”
The remaining birds flapped their wings and shouted.
—Why, why?
—That woman, that woman is spiteful.
“No, it’s not exactly like that. She’s just extremely loyal to the Emperor—that’s just who she is. It wouldn’t be fair to punish her for doing her job too diligently. Go stop the black bird.”
—Strange, strange.
—Fair, fair.
The birds protested vigorously, but when Lasilia stroked their heads and made her request, they eventually flew off after the black bird.
Picking up a few feathers that had fallen on the windowsill, Lasilia shook her head.
“They say they like me, yet they’re rather blindly devoted. I wonder why.”
This place was still full of mysteries.
Exactly what those birds were was one of them.
But she thought she understood one thing.
“…They’re alike.”
Their blind devotion somehow reminded her of the Emperor—
the one who said he’d rather build a whole new temple than let her go to the existing one.
[This is the timeline separator]“What’s that, Rian?”
“This?”
Whoosh!
Rian, having just left the Empress’s quarters, tossed something into the air and caught it.
“I don’t know either.”
“What? Then why are you holding onto it so tightly?”
“It belongs to Her Majesty.”
Rian grinned and opened her palm, revealing whatever she’d been holding.
“…A stone?”
“It looks like a stone, sure. Doesn’t that seem really odd? Our vicious Empress couldn’t possibly have the delicate sensibility to cherish something as plain as a stone.”
Serben suddenly grew serious.
“Her Majesty wouldn’t have given it to you… You didn’t steal it, did you?”
“It’s closer to finding it than stealing.”
“That’s the same thing.”
“No, it’s different.”
Whoosh!
Rian tossed the stone again playfully. Though she called it play, the stone shot so high with her immense arm strength that it vanished from sight, only falling back down after a long while. Without even looking, Rian reached out and caught it perfectly.
“I was briefly with Her Majesty. When I quietly opened her vanity drawer, this popped out. Since I’d already taken it out secretly, I held onto it—and she saw me but said nothing. That basically means ‘just take it,’ right?”
“Hey, even so… Never mind. Knowing you, there must be a reason. Were you testing whether her amnesia is real?”
“Killed two birds with one stone.”
Whizz!
The stone flew again.
“She’s definitely changed. Suspiciously sensible and refined. Even when I openly mocked her, she retorted with grace. Does that make any sense? Our foul-tempered, venomous Empress?”
ads
“She’s always been skilled at self-presentation.”
“She wouldn’t waste that talent when it’s just the two of us.”
“Well, I can’t argue with that.”
“That’s why I’m confused now. Can amnesia really make someone change so completely?”
“How should I know?”
“What’s going on anyway? It’s not just Her Majesty who’s become someone else—His Majesty has too. Didn’t you see him kick Viscount Pielion earlier? Even for His Majesty, shoving a noble with his foot breaks etiquette, doesn’t it?”
“Very much so.”
“He’s not someone who doesn’t know that—so why suddenly act like that? It’s as if he’s a jealous husband who just caught his wife with another man… Wait—my stone! Where’s my stone? It should’ve fallen by now…”
Rian was scanning the sky with wide eyes, searching for the stone.
“Kraaawk!”
Pop!
Out of nowhere, a black bird sliced through the wind and snatched the red stone with its beak.
“Argh! Isn’t that the crazy bird from before! Hey, you mad thing! Are you planning to eat a stone, you bird!”
Rian urgently drew her sword and dashed after it.
“Kraak!”
The black bird soared high into the sky, as if mocking her.
“Stop right there! If I catch you, I’ll pluck every feather off!”
Soon, Rian became just a dot in the distance.
Serben, left alone, shook his head slowly.
“…Still, why would she even have a plain stone? It really doesn’t suit her.”
An Empress treasuring an ordinary stone—not even a gem—was utterly absurd.
“Could it be no ordinary stone?”
They’d find out once Rian safely retrieved it.
But in the end, Rian never caught the black bird.
Nor could the black bird return the stone to Lasilia—because at that very moment, the Emperor had just finished his brief move and returned to the Empress.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.

Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 13Ugh, Lasilia, it’s as simple as looking at yourself and realizing you have the mark because you are his fated match, not Cartagena, girl! This female lead is stressing me out.
Reskal is a sunshine as always. I love him.I hope they don’t catch the poor crow; Rian tripping or falling into the water would be the absolute best hahaha.
Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 14Oh, Reskal is just an absolute sweetheart. The fact that he gets so protective because she fell into the water… I adore him! Though Lasilia still annoys the hell out of me. Girl, wake up! That man truly loves you.
Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 15Reskal is so sweet. I love how he gets over Lasilia and how he even rushes for her. But even though it’s so obvious that everyone notices it, Lasilia is such an idiot that she will never suspect the Emperor is in love with her.

Rahzel Everlasting
Ugh, I’m still Team Reskal. This man is just everything that is good in this world. He brings her roses, looks for ways to be alone with her, and even moves in just to be with her all the time. And on top of that, he builds her a temple so she can have her prayers to heal… is there anything he can’t do right? hahaha.
The stone seems important; let’s wait and see what comes out of that later.
