How to Divorce a Obsessive Emperor Safely (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 6
It would have been fine to swear an oath. He had never seen Reskal smile like that before.
Not even Reskal’s closest Shadow Knights had ever seen it—let alone anyone else.
“Your Majesty… are you… in a good mood?”
Serben asked, looking utterly bewildered.
“In a good mood? Why would you ask such a thing?”
And to be honest, even Reskal himself had never seen it. He hadn’t even realized he was smiling.
“Well, because you look like you’re in a good mood.”
“I’m not particularly sure about that.”
“Oh… I see.”
The Shadow Knights deliberately averted their eyes when Reskal—who clearly looked pleased—said that.
“But why would wearing sleepwear be connected to amnesia?”
After a brief pause to shake off the awkwardness, Serben asked. Rian, glad for the change of topic, quickly spoke up.
“Suppose you’re on really bad terms with someone. But you can’t avoid them, and you can’t just keep things the way they are. What would you do?”
“Hmm… Well, I’d probably try talking to them first.”
“What if your personality is so twisted that you simply can’t bring yourself to say those words?”
“Huh? Are there people like that?”
“Yes—our Empress, for instance.”
“Oh… Oh!”
Serben slapped his own hand as if he’d just understood something.
“If you want to change the relationship but would rather die than be the first to say, ‘I was wrong—let’s get along better from now on’… then you’d act as if you’d never been on bad terms at all.”
“So that’s why you brought up amnesia.”
“I suspect that’s exactly it.”
Rian gave Reskal a slightly mischievous smile.
“Well, the Empress’s change of heart may be beyond what I can fathom, but it seems she’s making her own efforts to somehow improve her relationship with Your Majesty.”
“I see.”
Reskal smiled again.
He himself was unaware, but it was plainly visible even to the two knights.
“So perhaps Your Majesty could make a little effort as well?”
“What kind of effort?”
“Hmm… Sending flowers, like other husbands do.”
Serben chimed in.
“Her Majesty particularly likes gardenias.”
Rian stared at Serben in surprise.
“What? How do you know that?”
“By chance. Last winter, the palace staff in the Empress’s quarters caused quite a commotion because they couldn’t obtain gardenias.”
“A commotion? Did someone die?”
“I heard three gardeners were replaced. I don’t know if they’re alive or dead.”
“In that case, they might as well be dead… Anyway, Your Majesty—gardenias.”
Surprisingly, Reskal nodded.
“Do that.”
“Understood, Your Majesty.”
Rian immediately replied and gave Serben a quick jab in the ribs.
“Go get them.”
“…Alright, fine.”
Serben, who would normally protest being dumped with a tedious chore, didn’t raise a single objection today.
It was simply too important a day for that.
[This is the timeline separator]“…What?”
Lasilia repeated the question, unable to believe what she’d just heard.
“Does… contact really carry that meaning…?”
Trending
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
The maids watched the Empress warily, not understanding why.
They clearly knew the amnesia was a lie—so why go to such lengths pretending not to know? Yet they couldn’t bring themselves to think that way.
Because right now, the Empress’s look of astonishment seemed utterly genuine.
“So that means… essentially, marital relations.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“That… so during the Blue Moon…”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
“…”
Lasilia finally fell silent.
‘So the rumor about demonic blood flowing through the Eliaeden imperial line was true. I thought it was just an old legend.’
After all, there was no other explanation for those golden eyes.
‘So that’s why.’
Now she finally understood what the Emperor had done in her chamber earlier that day. She also grasped why one of the Shadow Knights had threatened that he must fulfill his duty.
‘Then this is truly serious.’
Beyond marital relations, she wasn’t the real Empress.
Thus, she could never be his fated partner. A sudden chill ran down her spine.
‘That dream… Could it be that he realized I’m not the real one… and is going to kill me?’
In the dream, she had desperately professed her love. The Emperor had replied that he had no need for such love.
If it was about survival, she could understand that desperation.
‘But that’s not all.’
Lasilia clenched her fist tightly.
The fact that she was an impostor was extremely grave. Without a fated partner, the demonic blood could not be controlled. If the Emperor fully transformed into a demon after his thirtieth birthday, no one knew what would happen next.
‘What on earth should I do?’
They said the Blue Moon would rise in just a few days.
She had to find a solution within those few days.
Knock knock!
“Your Majesty! His Imperial Majesty has sent you a gift!”
An unexpected event pierced through her thoughts.
“What did you say?”
“What’s going on?”
The maids were even more startled than Lasilia and began whispering among themselves.
The doors swung open on both sides, and an enormous quantity of flowers, carried in vases as large as washbasins, filed into the room one after another.
“Good heavens…”
After the servants from the Imperial Palace departed, the Empress’s chamber had turned into a full-blown flower garden. The intense fragrance of gardenias was so overpowering that the palace staff hurriedly opened the windows to keep from suffocating.
“You must be incredibly happy, Your Majesty.”
Marchioness Pashad spoke without understanding the other’s feelings.
“Not just any flower—but so many of the very blooms Her Majesty favors! There’s never been such an occasion before… Could it mean His Majesty has finally come to adore the Empress?”
Lasilia gritted her teeth once before speaking.
“That doesn’t make much sense.”
“…Yes, Your Majesty?”
“If you say ‘finally come to adore,’ it implies he didn’t before. Just as amnesia isn’t a reason to fall in love, His Majesty has no new reason to suddenly adore me. The flowers are probably meant as consolation.”
“Th-that’s…”
Marchioness Pashad faltered, unable to finish her sentence.
Seeing that, it became even clearer that the Emperor and Empress had never gotten along well.
It wasn’t merely that—they openly watched each other with suspicion.
‘Even in Delarta, there were rumors that the Imperial Emperor abused his Empress. Even if exaggerated, there must have been some truth to it. Considering what that knight said earlier—that the Empress hadn’t fulfilled her duties—it might have led to such mistreatment.’
What could possibly be the reason? What kind of couple were the Emperor and Empress?
Her thoughts tumbled one after another.
Meanwhile, time steadily flowed toward evening.

Count Persson, the head steward of the Imperial Palace, was an exceptionally capable man.
Though overshadowed by the two Shadow Knights and thus lacking presence, he always fulfilled his duties impeccably.
He, too, had heard—slightly later than the knights—that the Empress would be visiting the Emperor.
He also knew, of course, that the Emperor had ordered every gardenia from the palace gardens to be picked and sent to the Empress. Indeed, it was he who had driven the gardeners to madness.
Thus, for today—a day that might mark the first shared night in four years—he had made every possible preparation.
Dozens of candles illuminated the Emperor’s chamber, and all the windows were draped with curtains.
A dining table had even been brought in, set with food for the two of them, along with the sweetest wine the palace could offer.
But above all, he had devoted the most attention to the Emperor’s attire.
Since Her Majesty had worn the sleepwear she’d failed to wear on their wedding night, His Majesty ought to dress similarly.
Unfortunately, there was no specially tailored sleepwear reserved for the wedding night. But new sleepwear? He had more than enough to trip over.
After laying out dozens of sleepwear sets and agonizing over them, Persson decided to recommend a nightgown instead.
To accentuate those magnificent golden eyes and golden hair, the gown absolutely had to be black.
It should be embroidered—but gold thread might be excessive, so silver thread would be better. The pattern mustn’t be too large, yet not too plain either.
After much deliberation, Persson sprinkled the chosen nightgown with perfume made from gardenia blossoms.
When told to wear the gown directly over his bare skin, Reskal stared blankly at his own face.
“Ahem, yes. You’ll look absolutely splendid, Your Majesty.”
Persson prided himself on having unmatched aesthetic sense within the palace.
“Combined with the chamber’s subtle and sensual atmosphere, Her Majesty will surely not wish to sleep anywhere else tonight.”
“…Then so be it.”
Reskal finally slipped his arms into the gown.
Persson tied the gown’s sash loosely enough—but never so obviously as to seem intentional—and personally styled Reskal’s hair in place of the palace attendants.
“It would be best to let your bangs fall today, Your Majesty.”
“Do as you please.”
With permission granted, Persson’s hands moved swiftly. He bit his lip to suppress a hum that nearly escaped and maintained a respectful expression.
“It’s done, Your Majesty.”
Even as he stepped back, Persson felt boundless pride in the look he’d just perfected.
“Her Majesty will undoubtedly be captivated.”
Persson knew well that the Empress’s temperament was a complete mess. But no matter how twisted or tangled a woman might be, she couldn’t help but melt before such dazzling beauty—and she absolutely had to.
Because they couldn’t possibly let the Emperor reach his thirtieth birthday like this.
The Emperor clearly knew time was running out and was making a clear effort to restore the marital bond he’d practically neglected until now.
In that case, it was only right for Persson to burn himself out in support.
But Reskal’s next offhand remark froze Persson in place.
“If the Empress says she’s not pleased with you, you’ll be held responsible.”
“Wh-what… Y-Your Majesty…”
Reskal turned his head indifferently away from Persson, who had gone pale, and glanced at the wall clock.
The Empress would be arriving soon.
[This is the timeline separator]There was no way to avoid it.
She had even considered hiding somewhere. But the Emperor, ever relentless, had already stationed people without a single gap along the corridor leading from her chamber.
“Your Majesty. It is time.”
“…”
Lasilia looked at the short man who claimed to be the head steward of the Imperial Palace.
From the moment she’d entered the Empress’s quarters, his expression had conveyed a resolute determination—to escort her to the Emperor without fail—measuring every remaining second down to the tick.
‘Considering I’ve refused him every time until now, this is only to be expected… There’s no escape.’
It was hopeless.
If she couldn’t avoid facing the Emperor, she’d have to find another way.
Lasilia swallowed hard and nodded.
“Lead the way.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”

Surrounded front, back, and sides by maids, servants, and the Imperial Guard, Lasilia headed toward the Imperial Palace.
There were so many people that anyone seeing them might think she was marching off to war rather than meeting the Emperor.
Thud.
Anyway, they arrived at the Imperial Palace, exchanged the necessary courtesies, and once everyone else had departed, the door closed behind her.
“…”
Lasilia felt oddly stifled by the Emperor’s chamber, darker even than the Prophet’s room. The air here felt several times heavier than elsewhere, pressing her whole body flat.
Amidst it all, the man with the most imposing presence swept back his golden hair—shimmering even in this darkness—and opened his lips toward her.
“Then now,”
“…”
“Tell me what you’d like to do.”

The male lead couldn’t believe it, he became angry and crazy. He was determined to capture her body and heart by any means necessary.

The relationship with Ternaden looks really strange. I mean, the way he behaves around her is so suspicious.
And now I’m even more convinced that Lasilia simply saw Cartagena die because of the ritual, and that’s why she possessed the body and brought back the mark Cartagena used to have, because she is his fated match.
I love Reskal. He’s totally in ‘I saw my chance and I took it’ mode hahahahaha, and since Lasilia is still playing her memory loss card, she can’t question anything he says. I love this man.
Even so, the whole Delarta thing still bothers me. I don’t understand why she’s in such a rush to go there because she’s no longer a prophetess; she’s not Lasilia, she’s Cartagena. Even if she knows the truth, she won’t be able to do anything because she’ll be in the exact same position as she is as Empress—who is going to believe her?
Ugh, I’m still Team Reskal. This man is just everything that is good in this world. He brings her roses, looks for ways to be alone with her, and even moves in just to be with her all the time. And on top of that, he builds her a temple so she can have her prayers to heal… is there anything he can’t do right? hahaha.
The stone seems important; let’s wait and see what comes out of that later.
