How to Divorce a Obsessive Emperor Safely (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 11
It wasn’t that the Emperor was holding a bouquet—it was as if he himself stood amidst a flower garden.
The harmony of gold and crimson was so dazzling it nearly hurt the eyes.
Normally, when the Emperor arrived, servants would precede him to announce his visit. This time, there was none of that.
Naturally, she was startled. Yet the Emperor entering the room didn’t seem composed either.
After opening the door and stepping inside, the Emperor halted abruptly for a moment, then strode briskly toward her.
“Ah, Your Imperial Majesty, I—”
Ternaden belatedly rose from his seat and bowed.
“Skip the greetings.”
Puhk!
Reskal shoved the heavy bouquet he’d been holding into Ternaden’s arms.
“Ugh, it’s hea—”
Thud!
Caught off guard, Ternaden stumbled backward under the bouquet’s weight and landed hard on his backside. Reskal then gave the fallen Ternaden a firm kick with his foot.
“Ugh!”
As Ternaden groaned, Reskal spoke.
“Do me a favor—put that in a vase.”
“…Huh? What did you just—”
Ternaden couldn’t quite grasp what had just happened to him.
The Emperor had dragged him out like a sack of luggage—Viscount Pielion—right before the Empress, who hailed from the Pielion family.
The Shadow Knights were no different.
“Did you see that? Just now, His Majesty—”
Serben nudged Rian’s side, about to whisper, but Rian cut him off quickly.
“Yeah. I can’t believe it either, but shouldn’t we pull the Viscount out first?”
“Oh, right.”
Thanks to the knights’ swift movement, the bewildering incident ended right there.
[This is the timeline separator]“Why have you come?”
As far as Lasilia knew, the Emperor was the most irrational person alive.
With a completely blank expression, he managed to look utterly menacing. She couldn’t say why, but Lasilia felt he seemed extremely dangerous at that moment.
“Was I interrupting?”
His voice came after a few breaths had passed.
He had been interrupting.
“We were in the middle of a pleasant conversation. It’s a pity, but there will be another chance.”
It had been an opportunity to learn more about the Empress. Though she regretted the conversation being cut short, she was glad to have learned of the existence of Viscount Pielion. Above all, he seemed very close to the Empress—and he believed her amnesia.
“Another time, you say.”
Muttering softly, the Emperor plopped down right into the spot Ternaden had just vacated.
Ternaden had been sitting close enough to whisper to Lasilia—meaning the Emperor was now just as near.
“It’s too close, Your Majesty. And why have you—”
The Emperor cut her off sharply.
“You were closer with the Viscount.”
“No. That’s not true.”
“You were closer.”
His face suddenly loomed nearer, close enough that their lips might touch.
“This close.”
‘Not at all. And why does distance even matter?’
Lasilia leaned back to create some space.
“If you wish, I’ll say it was so.”
“And you held his hand too.”
As he spoke, the Emperor seized Lasilia’s hand. She stared at Reskal with a look of utter confusion.
“…It wasn’t by my will, but that did happen. Now, would you please let go of my hand and give me some space? You’re too close.”

The Emperor showed no intention of moving.
“Did you say the same thing to him?”
“Huh?”
“That you’ve lost your memory, that he’s just a stranger, that it’s uncomfortable—so don’t touch you and stay far away. Did you say that?”
She briefly searched her memory, but no such thing had occurred. She’d simply pulled her hand away without speaking.
“No.”
“Why?”
The already-too-close distance shrank further.
His golden eyes, so near they filled her vision, were not just unsettling—they made her dizzy.
“Why tell me to keep my distance, but not the Viscount?”
“I never had the chance to say such a thing.”
“Really?”
“Huh?”
“If you’d had the chance, would you have refused the Viscount too?”
Her eyes blinked involuntarily.
‘Why is he acting like this? Is there some issue with the Viscount? …Ah, no—he’s questioning whether I truly lost my memory. After all, the Empress and the Viscount always seemed close.’
That remark about having seen their mark multiple times now felt incredibly grating.
Could one really dismiss that as merely a close sibling-like bond?
“Yes. That’s my answer.”
“So in the future, if the Viscount takes your hand, will you tell him to let go?”
“Of course I will. To me, the Viscount is a complete stranger.”
“…… ……Then.”
Only after hearing those words did the Emperor slowly release her hand.
The distance, previously no more than a sheet of paper apart, widened to about the width of a book.
Lasilia stared at him, as if to ask if that minimal distance was all he’d allow, and he met her gaze directly.
“Next time, say ‘let go’ first. Even if there’s no chance, make one.”
“I will.”
At those words, the space between them stretched from one book’s width to two.
It was still far too close—but at least she felt she could breathe again.
“What business did the Viscount have here?”
The Emperor asked without breaking eye contact. Speaking face-to-face while sitting side by side, separated only by two books’ width, was surprisingly awkward.
“He came to pay a sick visit. He must have just heard the news.”
Lasilia rose as she replied.
“If you prefer that seat, I’ll move elsewhere.”
“No need. Just stay seated.”
“I’d like to move.”
At her words, the Emperor frowned slightly—but didn’t say no.
“…If you wish.”
“Yes.”
Once she’d moved, she felt considerably more at ease.
Watching Lasilia exhale unconsciously, Reskal’s lips twitched faintly.
“A sick visit? That’s odd. The Viscount never came to see you when you were unwell before.”
To be precise, he hadn’t come for a sick visit—he’d come to ask about the mark. Lasilia deftly changed the subject.
“Yet Your Majesty never paid a sick visit either.”
For an instant, his golden eyes flashed.
“How do you know that? Has your memory returned?”
…Impossible.
“I heard about the past from the Viscount.”
“You spoke about me? What did he say?”
“He said we weren’t close enough for him to visit often.”

In truth, their relationship had been far worse. The Empress had loved the Emperor, while he remained indifferent. Yet he needed her—and since she couldn’t fulfill that need, she’d hidden her true self behind a lie.
There had been no way for things to improve until the mark was complete.
Yet the Emperor, who had been silently staring straight into her eyes, said:
“That’s a lie.”
[This is the timeline separator]A lie?
“The Viscount lied. You and I weren’t distant—we got along extremely well.”
“……”
She was slightly dumbfounded.
“That’s hard to believe. If we got along so well, why hasn’t the marriage been consummated even now?”
“That’s proof we got along well.”
The Emperor was the kind of man who could lie while staring straight into your eyes.
“I don’t understand how that makes sense.”
“It wasn’t consummated because you wished it so. Though I don’t know your reason, the fact that I’ve faithfully honored that request all this time proves just how close we truly were.”
It was utter nonsense—but spoken with such confidence, it almost sounded plausible, leaving her confused.
“…That differs from what Viscount Pielion and the maids have said.”
“You’re not suggesting they understand our relationship better than I do?”
It wasn’t just them—Rian was there too.
“Not even Your Majesty’s Shadow Knight?”
“Not even my Shadow Knight.”
“……”
There had to be a reason. A reason for telling such an obviously unbelievable lie.
‘Why on earth…? Ah—because of the Blue Moon.’
Perhaps amnesia was an opportunity for the Emperor.
He could no longer delay contact and needed to force intimacy with the Empress—and she had conveniently lost her memory at just the right time.
If their relationship had always been close, the Empress would find it hard to refuse future contact.
‘Sigh… He’s clever. I can’t possibly say with my own mouth that things weren’t that way in the past. He’s calculated that I’ll be utterly at his mercy.’
He was right.
“So from now on, please don’t tell me I’m too close. We always sat side by side on one chair—this close.”
It would begin with them pressed together on a single seat.
“…Then, Your Majesty.”
Fortunately, Lasilia already had a plan in mind.
“I wish to receive a healing prayer—to recover my memories.”
“A healing prayer?”
“Yes. Viscount Pielion told me there are priests in the kingdom of Delarta who possess healing powers.”
A prophet and lies were the least compatible combination—but right now, she had no choice. Given how the Emperor was acting, she needed to lie as well.
Since the Viscount seemed on the Empress’s side, he’d surely adjust his story later to match hers.
“I want to go to Delarta.”
[This is the timeline separator]“Here. Please take it.”
“…Huh?”
Serben held out a large vase, and Rian spoke.
Ternaden looked between them with a dumbfounded expression.
“Take this… and do what with it?”
“His Majesty personally commanded it—put the flowers in the vase. Go ahead.”
“So you’re seriously telling me… right now… to do this… yourself?”
“It’s an imperial command. Surely you’re not thinking of refusing? My, what boldness. Right, Serben?”
“Indeed.”
Ternaden’s anger flared.
He’d never personally encountered the Shadow Knights before, but he’d heard stories—they acted like royalty, arrogant and unrestrained under the Emperor’s protection. Those words fit perfectly.

If Cartagena had issues with the Shadow Knights, it wasn’t without reason.
“…I’ll remember your names. We’ll see how long you keep acting like this.”
“Well, do as you please.”
Rian exhaled dismissively through her nose.
“But for now, devote your full effort to the imperial command. Understand that we won’t lift a finger to help, as per His Majesty’s wishes.”
Having spoken, the Shadow Knights casually crossed their legs and settled into chairs behind him, as if to make a show of it.
In other words, they intended to simply watch as Viscount Pielion—who had never touched flower arranging in his life—struggled through it.
“…This—”
Ternaden swallowed a torrent of curses inwardly.
Though his face was clearly turning red with fury, the Shadow Knights didn’t even blink.
“You… why are you treating me like this?”
When the rose thorn pricked his finger for the third time, Ternaden finally whirled around and glared at the Shadow Knights.
“Oh, there’s no particular reason.”
Rian faced him, propping her head up with interlaced fingers.
“It’s just that Her Imperial Majesty recently caused quite a stir. That’s all.”
“What? How dare you speak of Her Majesty that way?”
“So naturally, rumors swirl toward the pre-marital scandal partner—though of course, as a distant cousin and adopted son, the Viscount wasn’t entirely ineligible for romance—but stray arrows are unavoidable. Just accept it.”
Ternaden’s expression shifted abruptly.
“Wh-what… scandal…?”
“And His Majesty certainly isn’t unaware of it either. Right, Serben?”
Serben nodded.
“He couldn’t possibly be. He’d have investigated everything before the marriage.”
“So, considering His Majesty is already in a foul mood with the Blue Moon approaching, perhaps you should reflect on what sort of presence you are to him. I mean, before you go sitting alone with Her Majesty on a sofa, holding her hand.”
“……”
Ternaden bit his lip hard.
“Then please finish arranging the flowers. You seem quite talented at it.”
Rian leaned back comfortably against the chair, thinking she’d just politely hinted, “I’m watching you closely—don’t upset His Majesty.”
“Rian.”
From the next room—now that he was alone with the Empress—Reskal called.
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
The two knights moved at an impossible speed into the adjacent room.
Just before the door closed again, Ternaden heard these words:
“How long does it take to reach Delarta from here?”

Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 12Ugh, I’m still Team Reskal. This man is just everything that is good in this world. He brings her roses, looks for ways to be alone with her, and even moves in just to be with her all the time. And on top of that, he builds her a temple so she can have her prayers to heal… is there anything he can’t do right? hahaha.
The stone seems important; let’s wait and see what comes out of that later.
Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 13Ugh, Lasilia, it’s as simple as looking at yourself and realizing you have the mark because you are his fated match, not Cartagena, girl! This female lead is stressing me out.
Reskal is a sunshine as always. I love him.I hope they don’t catch the poor crow; Rian tripping or falling into the water would be the absolute best hahaha.
Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 14Oh, Reskal is just an absolute sweetheart. The fact that he gets so protective because she fell into the water… I adore him! Though Lasilia still annoys the hell out of me. Girl, wake up! That man truly loves you.

Rahzel Everlasting
I love Reskal. He’s totally in ‘I saw my chance and I took it’ mode hahahahaha, and since Lasilia is still playing her memory loss card, she can’t question anything he says. I love this man.
Even so, the whole Delarta thing still bothers me. I don’t understand why she’s in such a rush to go there because she’s no longer a prophetess; she’s not Lasilia, she’s Cartagena. Even if she knows the truth, she won’t be able to do anything because she’ll be in the exact same position as she is as Empress—who is going to believe her?
