How to Divorce a Obsessive Emperor Safely (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 8
Swish…… thud.
Finally, the Emperor’s body toppled sideways.
Not long after eating the fruit, the Emperor’s eyelids drooped loosely.
Just as he murmured, “I think I’m getting sleepy,” his head dropped straight down and pressed heavily onto Lasilia’s shoulder.
She had tried to hold him steady so he wouldn’t fall—but their size difference was enormous. She grabbed his sleeve, yet the Emperor, leaning against her shoulder, slid right off and collapsed onto the floor along with his chair.
At least she’d been holding his clothes, so his head narrowly avoided a hard impact.
“Haa…… This won’t do. He’s too heavy.”
Moving him to the bed was impossible. Somehow, Lasilia managed to lay the Emperor flat on the floor and fetched a pillow to place beneath his head.
“I don’t know what kind of fruit that was, but it works really well.”
Lasilia murmured softly, gazing at the sleeping Emperor beside her.
“It was easier to feed him than I expected. That’s a relief. But still…”
Why had the Emperor insisted on tasting it first himself?
It was fortunate, yet she couldn’t help but wonder about his reason.
“If I didn’t know we didn’t get along, I might’ve thought the Emperor took the risk first for the Empress.”
In that moment, the strange, unfamiliar, inscrutable, and frightening Emperor felt just a little more human.
“If only he’d mistakenly believe we’d made contact like this… Ah, maybe I should leave his clothes slightly undone.”
Lasilia was just about to touch the Emperor’s body when—
“…Ah!”
The Emperor suddenly grabbed her hand the moment it touched him, startling Lasilia so badly her heart nearly leapt out of her chest. She thought he’d woken up.
Fortunately, he hadn’t awakened—he was merely gripping her hand tightly in his sleep.
‘What? How can he do this while asleep?’
Lasilia struggled to pull her hand free. His grip was astonishingly strong for someone supposedly asleep. She finally managed to pry his fingers open one by one and barely extracted her hand.
‘Ouch.’
She worried a bruise might form on her knuckles. Not knowing when or where he might grab her next, Lasilia quickly put some distance between them. As she moved away, the Emperor’s clearly closed eyelids twitched slightly.
‘Oh, right—I don’t even know how long the effect lasts.’
He was asleep, but there was no telling when he’d wake. If he roused within an hour or two, there’d still be ample time to attempt contact afterward.
‘I should hide somewhere until tomorrow morning. Since I’ve lost my memories, saying I got lost in the palace should serve as a good excuse.’
Her decision was swift, and so was her action.
Lasilia immediately approached the door.
Just as she’d anticipated, two guards looked at her with puzzled expressions when she opened the door.
“What is it, Your Imperial Majesty?”
“His Majesty has fallen asleep.”
“Oh…?”
“I’ll go to my chambers until he wakes.”
“Ah, well… we haven’t received any orders about what to do in this situation.”
The guards stepped forward to block her, but this wasn’t unexpected.
“If he asks for me after waking, I’ll return.”
With that, the guards had no choice but to let her go.
Lasilia returned to the Empress’s quarters under their escort.
[This is the timeline separator]Thud.
The door closed.
After double-checking that no one else was in the room, Lasilia opened the window.
“You said you’d come if I called. Can you come now?”
After a brief wait, the admirable birds flew in.
There were even more of them this time. Their varied chirping made things a bit noisy.
“Shh. Someone might hear.”
The birds quickly fell silent.
“I need a place to hide until tomorrow morning. Is there somewhere nearby I can go without being seen?”
The birds chattered among themselves for a while. Then, as if reaching a conclusion, they vigorously nodded their heads.
Trending
—Yes, yes.
—Yeah, yeah. That place is fine, fine.
Lasilia let out a sigh of relief.
“That’s truly fortunate. May I ask you to guide me?”
The birds conferred again among themselves, and this time, a bird with blue feathers hopped through the window.
—I will, I will.
“So you’ll be my guide? Thank you. Where should I go?”
—This way, this way.
The tiny blue bird fluttered upward.
Lasilia thanked the other birds and followed the blue one.
[This is the timeline separator]These birds were certainly special.
Talking alone made them extraordinary, but they were also remarkably clever and knew every corner of the imperial palace.
The blue bird skillfully found a passage rarely used by people and led Lasilia to the northern tower. The palace was so vast that the journey alone seemed to take about an hour.
Upon entering the northern tower, the atmosphere changed completely.
Though as splendid and immaculately clean as any other part of the palace, there was an inexplicable stillness here.
It felt as if time itself had stopped only in this place.
“Where is this?”
—No people here. They don’t come.
“Why?”
—There’s a master here.
“Huh? A master?”
Instead of answering, the blue bird tapped its beak insistently against the closed door, as if urging her to see for herself.
“So I should go in here?”
—Yes, yes.
Lasilia opened the door. Knowing how clever the birds were, she harbored no suspicion.
But the moment she opened it, someone shouted:
“Who’s there!”
“Oh!”
Lasilia froze, still holding the doorknob. Through the slightly opened gap, the blue bird slipped inside.
“Wait! Don’t go in there—”
“Huh?”
Since the blue bird had already entered, she couldn’t just run off alone. With a frustrated sigh, Lasilia reopened the door, intending only to retrieve the bird.
“Who’s there! Who’s there!”
“Oh…”
The one shouting wasn’t human.
It was an enormous parrot. The parrot sat in a massive cage nearly reaching the ceiling, and the cage door stood open—apparently left that way so the bird could come and go freely.
Moreover, the entire cage was made of dull yellow gold. She couldn’t even imagine how much gold had been used.
“So… the bird is the master here?”
The blue bird nodded its tiny head.
—Yes, here. Bird lives.
“Ah… Why does it live here?”
This time, it was the parrot who answered.
“Ahem! I am Schreiden the First of Kirne Tower! Duke Schreiden!”
“Huh…?”
“Your Grace! Pay your respects!”
The parrot flapped its wings and screeched loudly. Immediately, the blue bird darted into the cage and gave the parrot’s head a sharp peck with its tiny foot.
It seemed to mean: “Be quiet—it’s too noisy!”
Though the blue bird was small and the parrot enormous, astonishingly, the parrot quieted down.
Not only that—it even stepped down slowly from its thick golden perch onto the floor. The blue bird confidently claimed the perch and flew to the nearby feed bowl to peck at seeds.

“But… is that really okay?”
Lasilia asked, stepping closer to the cage.
—Yes, yes.
“Why is this parrot so well-behaved?”
—Just bird. Because bird.
“You’re a bird too.”
—Not us. We’re different.
“How are you different?”
—Different, different.
“I mean, in what way are you different?”
—We’re different. Different.
“Hmm… Is it too much to ask for more detail?”
They were incredibly intelligent birds, but apparently limited in expressing themselves fully in human language.
Still, even that was astonishing enough.
“Just who are you, really…?”
As Lasilia stroked the blue bird’s head with her finger, it closed its eyes and stretched its neck long.
—More, more. More, more.
It even burrowed into her palm, clearly asking for more petting.
“You like people, huh?”
—No, no. Not people.
“You don’t like people?”
—Yes. Don’t like, don’t like.
“Then you like me?”
—Yes, yes.
‘How strange. Did it like the Empress? Were these her birds? …No, probably not.’
There hadn’t been a single birdcage or similar item in the Empress’s room. The birds always came from outside, so they didn’t seem tamed by human hands.
“Do you… by any chance, know who I am?”
She asked, just in case.
—Yes, yes. Know, know.
“So you really know who I am?”
—Yes, yes. Really, really.
It sounded unbelievable, yet it didn’t feel like a lie.
Lasilia’s hand trembled slightly as she stroked the blue bird.
Perhaps these birds held the key—the key to unlocking the box containing answers to all the strange things happening to her.
“Then… do you also know why I came here?”
The blue bird, which had been peacefully closing its eyes, suddenly opened them.
—The real one has come, so he’ll wake up soon.
“He?”
—Him.
“Who is ‘he’?”
—Him.
Having said that, the blue bird abruptly took flight.
—I’ll come again if you call, come again.
Leaving those same words behind, the blue bird fluttered away somewhere.
“It’s gotten even more confusing.”
Lasilia reached out as if to catch the bird, then stopped mid-motion, her expression regretful.
“Just who is ‘he’? Who’s coming?”
Regardless, as the birds had said, this place saw no visitors. She could rest easy until morning.
Since the room held no furniture meant for humans—no bed, no chair—Lasilia sat comfortably on the floor, leaning against the wall.
“Ahem. I am Schreiden the First! Duke Schreiden offers his greetings.”

The parrot, which had been quietly hunched, waddled over to Lasilia’s side.
Lasilia chuckled softly.
“A moment ago you demanded a greeting, and now you’re offering one yourself?”
“Ahem. Offering greetings.”
“Alright, hello. Nice to meet you. Sorry for barging in—you must’ve been startled. Thank you for letting me stay.”
When she stroked its head, the parrot happily fluttered the tips of its wings.
“Ahem. Don’t mention it. I am Schreiden the First! Breakfast is fresh vegetables and peanuts! Precisely at six o’clock every morning!”
“Six o’clock… So people come at that time.”
She’d need to hide and return before then. She thought she could roughly remember the path the blue bird had led her through.
“So I have about ten hours left. Let’s get along well until then, Your Grace.”
Lasilia smiled as she spoke, and Schreiden the First nodded vigorously.
[This is the timeline separator]Reskal awoke about an hour later. An ordinary person would’ve slept for two days, but his body—mixed with demon blood—differed from humans in many ways.
The moment he woke, he immediately searched for the Empress. Hearing that he’d fallen asleep and she’d returned to her chambers, he headed straight for the Empress’s quarters without even bringing his shadow knights.
What awaited Reskal was an empty bedroom.
The palace guards assigned to the Empress’s quarters knew nothing about where, when, or how she had left.
She had simply vanished.
“…Unbelievable.”
Serben, who arrived breathlessly a moment too late, muttered under his breath.
Rian clenched her fists tightly, her face twisted in frustration.
“Could she really be doing this again? Hadn’t she changed her mind?”
She looked ready to punch anyone with those fists.
“This is practically torture from His Majesty’s perspective! What on earth is that woman thinking…!”
Before Serben could panic and turn to the guards to silence Rian—
Thwack!
A sofa toppled over.
In Reskal’s hand was the armrest that had, just moments before, been firmly attached to the single-seater sofa.
“Find her.”
Reskal’s voice quietly resonated through the Empress’s bedroom.
“Now. Immediately.”

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”

The relationship with Ternaden looks really strange. I mean, the way he behaves around her is so suspicious.
And now I’m even more convinced that Lasilia simply saw Cartagena die because of the ritual, and that’s why she possessed the body and brought back the mark Cartagena used to have, because she is his fated match.
I love Reskal. He’s totally in ‘I saw my chance and I took it’ mode hahahahaha, and since Lasilia is still playing her memory loss card, she can’t question anything he says. I love this man.
Even so, the whole Delarta thing still bothers me. I don’t understand why she’s in such a rush to go there because she’s no longer a prophetess; she’s not Lasilia, she’s Cartagena. Even if she knows the truth, she won’t be able to do anything because she’ll be in the exact same position as she is as Empress—who is going to believe her?
Ugh, I’m still Team Reskal. This man is just everything that is good in this world. He brings her roses, looks for ways to be alone with her, and even moves in just to be with her all the time. And on top of that, he builds her a temple so she can have her prayers to heal… is there anything he can’t do right? hahaha.
The stone seems important; let’s wait and see what comes out of that later.
