The Only Healer, Ruela (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
“Shall we go in?”
The man smiled kindly as he instructed someone to open the iron gate. He wasn’t as stunning as the guild master, but the man before her was incredibly handsome—no, almost beautiful.
Ruela smiled back as she noticed the smudged red lipstick stain, as if hastily wiped away. Had he been interrupted mid-kiss and rushed over?
“What an enormous mansion.”
The moment she stepped through the gate behind Hazen and Tien, an exclamation slipped out. The garden’s splendor and grandeur, invisible from outside, left her utterly awestruck.
Perose Mansion radiated such overwhelming grandeur that its very appearance screamed “wealthy.”
Gazing at the immaculately manicured garden and the perfectly straight path cutting through it, Ruela asked,
“But are we walking?”
Caught off guard by the unexpected question, Hazen replied with a flustered expression.
“Yes, our carriage broke down on the way home. It’ll be faster for us to walk than to send someone back to the mansion.”
Hazen wiped the sweat from his brow, struggling to maintain his polite smile.
He’d been changing clothes after dropping off Ruela Romnin when it suddenly hit him—he’d forgotten to inform the guards.
Kite wasn’t the type to worry about such details, so he’d hurriedly changed and rushed over, only to find, as expected, that Zenon was trying to send her away, claiming he knew nothing about any guild.
“Alright then. Let’s walk.”
Ruela said firmly, noticing Hazen’s apologetic look.
She’d made it this far easily enough, so she still had energy left to walk to the mansion. Of course, now that she felt she’d reached her destination, exhaustion hit harder—but she wasn’t shameless enough to demand a carriage.
“What time is it?”
The moment she arrived at the enormous, snow-white mansion after a long walk, she asked for the time. She could’ve checked the screen instantly, but after wandering all day, she was too drained to even try.
“It’s 2:50.”
“Only that little?”
It felt like she’d walked for over an hour, yet barely a few dozen minutes had passed.
As she wondered whether it would be rude to ask for food at this hour, Hazen opened the front door and said,
“Welcome to Helane.”
“Helane?”
Her game was called Helane—why was that name appearing here? Wasn’t the guild named Perose?
Her mouth, about to ask why that name had come up, shut on its own. No—actually, it fell open in shock.
Could this be what another world was truly like?
The moment she stepped inside the mansion, where every color harmonized against a white backdrop, it felt as if she’d entered a magical realm.
Expensive-looking ornaments, vibrant paintings, and violet curtains billowing gently at the windows.
Golden stair railings gleaming brightly, and a spotless white marble floor polished until it sparkled without a speck of dust.
From the ceiling hung a chandelier so lavishly adorned it seemed ready to spill over, tinkling prettily as the breeze from the open windows brushed against it.
Ruela murmured, her voice brimming with genuine awe,
“I should’ve come sooner.”
“How did you end up coming together?”
As she admired the opulent interior, a familiar voice sounded. Turning around, she saw Kite, Perose’s guild master, descending the stairs.
He looked as if he’d just bathed—his hair still damp, shirt unbuttoned halfway down his chest, simple black pants, barefoot except for slippers.
‘Ugh, unnecessarily handsome, isn’t he?’
His appearance was so striking, like a figure stepped out of Greek mythology, that she couldn’t—no, didn’t want to—look away.
Feeling she’d stared too openly, she forced her gaze elsewhere, only for it to drift back to him as if pulled by a magnet.
“Hello again.”
The moment the words left her mouth, Ruela’s cheeks flushed. She’d wanted to greet him coolly and proudly—why had that come out instead?
She waited a while, avoiding his eyes, but received no reply.
Feeling inexplicably hurt, Ruela shot him a sharp look.
“It’s only polite to return a greeting when someone greets you…”
At that instant, her words dissolved into thin air.
She’d tried to mask her embarrassment by picking a pointless quarrel, but seeing him smile made her forget entirely what she’d meant to say.
Kite’s whole face radiated welcome.
Slightly upturned lips. Softly curved eyes. The man’s previously sharp, cold aura had completely transformed with just one smile.
When her eyes met his crimson gaze, she saw and heard nothing else.
It felt as if only he and she existed in that space.

“We met at the main gate.”
Hazen’s words shattered the illusion of their private world, snapping her back to reality.
Pretending nonchalance, Ruela turned her gaze out the window.
Hazen approached Kite, who was still staring at Ruela, and whispered,
“You should’ve tipped off the guard post in advance. They didn’t understand when she said she came to join the guild. She nearly turned back.”
Hearing this, Kite’s momentarily frozen expression crumpled severely.
“Wipe that red stain off your lips. What on earth have you been doing?”
Seeing Kite recoil in disgust, Hazen quickly rubbed his lips with the back of his hand.
“Huh? Didn’t it all come off? I disguised myself as a merchant’s wife to get her here.”
“Don’t you know you’re not supposed to give her any help?”
“We were on our way to join the guild! Now that we’re involved, I gave her a ride. Thanks to my quick thinking, we got here faster.”
Hazen grabbed Tien and dashed toward the second floor as if fleeing.
“We’ve done our part—now we’re off to wash up.”
Kite glared after them for a moment before approaching Ruela.
“Well…”
“Please.”
Before he could finish his welcome, a small hand thrust forward.
“What are you asking for?”
Kite couldn’t help but ask, bewildered.
“The guild application form.”
Judging by the mansion’s opulence, money was clearly no object. Right now, she had nowhere to go due to the accident that had befallen this body’s original owner. If they truly wanted her here, she’d rather join the guild immediately and become a member so she could confidently ask for food.
“An application form?”
The guild master’s face showed clear embarrassment. Ruela grew anxious—had his mind changed in the meantime?
“You’re not seriously taking back your word, are you? I came all this way with difficulty. I can’t go back—just give me the form.”
At her urgent demand, the man’s lips twitched.
“No, it’s not that I’m taking it back—it’s just that we haven’t formally established the guild yet, so there’s no such thing as an application form.”
Ruela’s eyes sparkled.
“That’s right—you said you hadn’t formed it yet! Fine, then create it right now. And I’ll be a founding member.”
“Create it right now?”
“Yes. Otherwise, I won’t have any legitimate reason to stay here.”
Ruela knew her words were bold, but she refused to start off groveling. Fortunately, Kite burst out laughing.
He might have found her rude, but knowing her reputation, he wasn’t offended. In fact, he found it endearing how she demanded what she wanted while still insisting on proper justification.
“I didn’t think you’d be this clever—caring about legitimacy even in this situation.”
“I’m usually good at judging what’s reasonable. But what do you mean, ‘I didn’t think’?”
“I’ve heard plenty about Ruela Romnin. You’re famously willful, wicked, and a shameless flirt who seduces every man she meets.”
“I’ll refuse those labels—‘wicked’ and ‘shameless flirt.’ Yes, I’m willful and mischievous, but I know my manners.”
From how people at the party and the servants had acted toward her, she could easily guess that Ruela Romnin—or rather, her current self—had a poor reputation.
And that reputation was useful for excusing her own mistakes or eccentric behavior, so Ruela saw no need to correct others’ perceptions.
But openly derogatory terms were unacceptable. She couldn’t stop people from whispering behind her back, but she wouldn’t tolerate such words spoken to her face.
“By the way, did you investigate me? You seem to know quite a lot.”
“I only learned it while looking into Guild Master Balder.”
Ah—the rogue who’d declared hostility and refused her even a drop of water?
At the mention of him, Ruela’s nerves prickled irritably.
“I don’t like it. Why do you keep linking me with Guild Master Balder?”
“It’s seemed odd since we first met.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I’d guessed you might have partial memory confusion, but now it seems you’ve completely lost your past memories. Am I right?”
His piercing remark made Ruela flinch, yet she couldn’t help but question him.
“That’s strange. Do you really know me well enough to make such definite judgments?”
Kite hesitated briefly before answering.

“I heard about your fall from a horse. Back in Kamun Village, I vaguely sensed something when I saw you keeping your distance from Balder. But I never heard you’d been injured—you seemed perfectly fine at the party.”
A fall from a horse? So the original Ruela Romnin had been compromised then?
“Tell me—did something happen to your body?”
The guild master’s probing tone was sharp. Fortunately, Ruela had a ready excuse.
“After meeting you at the last party, I fell down the stairs and hit my head. That’s all.”
The man narrowed his eyes skeptically.
“For someone who supposedly hit their head badly enough to lose memories, you seem far too composed—and you found your way here easily enough.”
“Is the road to the capital really that complicated? I just walked straight and ended up here.”
“You found the way to the capital in one go without a map or compass?”
“I must be smart, then. But more importantly, consider this a warning.”
“A warning about what?”
Ruela stepped closer, closing the distance, and spoke firmly so he’d hear clearly.
“From now on, don’t imply I have any connection with Balder. Don’t even mention his name in conversation. If you do, I won’t cooperate with your plans. You need my abilities, right?”
Kite’s eyes flickered slightly, clearly surprised by her boldness. But he quickly countered,
“Is that even possible? Balder already declared outright hostility.”
“Exactly! That declaration means we’re no longer connected—in fact, we’re outright enemies. We’re complete strangers, so stop linking us together.”
“Are you serious?”
“What do you mean?”
“Are you truly a complete stranger to him?”
“Yes. A complete stranger I don’t even want to think about.”
She didn’t know what the real Ruela Romnin was like, but as the one who’d possessed this body, she had no connection whatsoever to Guild Master Balder. Then why did she dislike him so intensely, despite having no relationship with him?
‘Could Ruela’s memories still be lingering in this body?’
Otherwise, how could the name Balder feel so utterly dreadful?

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
