My mother left us like that. She hurried down the mountain because she couldn’t leave me alone at home, even though a sudden shower was falling near the peak, and she slipped and died.

Hunters found her and brought her back to the village, and the village chief held a hasty funeral for her.

I did nothing. Everyone ignored me, as if this were strictly adult business and children had no rights at all.

As if the person lying in that shabby coffin weren’t our mother, Melia Roba, but someone else entirely.

The village elders handled the funeral themselves—cremated her and placed her ashes in an urn. They merely stood me right at the front to watch it all.

The village chief handed me the urn of ashes and spoke. It was so heavy my knees buckled, so I didn’t immediately understand what he’d said.

“Where will you go?”

“…….”

“I asked where you’ll go, Rorisha.”

I opened my eyes wide as I spoke—it felt like if I tensed my whole face, my eyes wouldn’t burn with tears.

“……Home.”

“What was that?”

“Home…….”

I ran home clutching that heavy urn of ashes.

‘Where else would I go besides home, you frozen old fool!’

An adult’s arm reached out to grab me, but the village chief stopped them. Just let her go, he said.

The setting sky burned crimson. I thought only that I mustn’t drop this heavy urn—if I did, what would happen to Mom? I absolutely couldn’t fall; I had to get home before nightfall. That was all that filled my mind.

I felt scared and disgusted by the strange, rasping breaths leaking from my throat—“hss… hss…”—but I couldn’t stop them.

“Mommy. Mommy. Mo… Mommy!”

Back at the cabin, I lay sprawled before the cold fireplace, still clutching Mom’s urn, which still held a trace of warmth.

She’d promised she’d definitely come home. That she’d return to me no matter what… She’d asked me to believe her. And I did…

I believed in Mom—only in Mom.

Damn it. Now I don’t believe in Mom anymore. I don’t believe in anyone.

I was ten years old then.

I was probably on the verge of starvation right there in front of the fireplace. Only faint memories remain—someone lifting and carrying me, the feeling of my body swaying in a carriage.

Later, after I’d recovered my strength under the care of an elderly maid at some villa, a well-groomed, middle-aged nobleman with golden hair came to see me.

He just stared at me with eyes glistening as if choked up. The large signet ring on his middle finger marked him as a high-ranking noble—but what could he possibly want with me?

Feeling awkward, I spoke first.

“I’m Rorisha. Rorisha Roba.”

He cleared his throat as if his voice had caught, then said,

“You are Rorisha Roar.”

“…….”

“I am Heliden Roar, Count—and your father.”

Dazed, I barely managed to gather my wits and replied,

“That’s not true.”

This time, his eyes wavered.

“Did your mother… did you have another father?”

“No.”

I answered firmly. No matter how noble he was, I wouldn’t let some stranger I’d just met say strange things about my mother.

“I don’t have a father. My mother never had a husband. If she had, we wouldn’t have lived like this.”

At that moment, I thought the man before me looked as if he’d been stabbed with a knife.

“From now on, I’ll take care of you.”

Why did those words make me so furious?

Mom was already dead—why show up only now!

I burst into tears. It was the first time I’d ever lost control like that.

When I came to my senses, I was sobbing in his arms.

They always said nobles only spoke refined words and never tolerated vulgar speech.

So I’d thought if I swore, even this noble would chase me away—either frightened or horrified, waving his hands and leaving.

But instead, he held me so tightly I couldn’t breathe, and maybe he was crying a little too, so I wondered if he might really be my father after all.

Though nothing would change even if he were.

Chapter 115 Chapter 114

He only let me go once my breathing had quieted.

“The Rorisha flower… that’s my favorite flower, you know.”

I was speechless.

He named me after his favorite flower? Mom, if you can hear this, please talk to me.

I stared straight at him and realized how much I resembled him—his bright blond hair, green eyes, the shape of his eyes, the contours of his face.

Even at that young age, I vaguely understood how cruel this was.

Mom—our mom, who had borne a noble’s child and then fled with nothing—what must she have thought every day, seeing me, who looked exactly like that man?

She’d managed to say I was pretty, even while calling me by the flower he loved and looking at my face, so much like his.

Or… had she lied? Was that why she never came back after promising she would? Did she abandon me because I looked like my father?

Thinking this, a ball of fire seemed to gather in my chest.

“Why did you abandon Mom?”

How must that hate-filled question from a ten-year-old girl have sounded to him?

“You don’t need to answer. Colin from the butcher’s is also the son of some nobleman who got his mother pregnant—she was a maid when she was young, you know.”

When I spoke mockingly, the Count’s eyes shook with shock. Back then, I was pleased, thinking my attack had struck home—but now I know it wasn’t like that at all.

He must have been disappointed and horrified—how had Melia raised her daughter?

“Watch your words, Rorisha.”

I’d never heard such a stern command in my life.

Only then did it dawn on me—I was dealing with someone from an entirely different world.

But I’d already said far too much, and I thought all that remained was to be dragged off by his servants and beaten.

Yet he spoke firmly.

“I never abandoned Melia. She ran away. I sent people to search for her, but couldn’t find her. I didn’t even know you existed.”

He showed me Mom’s silk ribbon. A bouquet of Rorisha flowers tied with that ribbon had been delivered, and he’d traced the sender all the way here.

He said that ribbon—the only luxury Mom ever owned—was a gift he’d given her.

He said,

“Melia wanted me to take you in.”

The Count took me to his villa. He said a little girl’s room with pure white walls and pink furniture would be mine. I was utterly bewildered.

A few days later, a governess arrived—an unmarried middle-aged woman with thick brown hair neatly styled.

“I’m Julia.”

Wanting to appear formidable on our first meeting, I asked haughtily,

“Are you my governess?”

“Yes. You know precisely, Miss Roar.”

“What even is a governess?”

She looked at me with a subtle expression, then said as if surprised,

“That’s an excellent question! What kind of person would Miss Roar like her governess to be? Is there something you’d like to learn from me?”

“Urajil. I asked first.”

When I muttered this, her eyes hardened slightly—but she tried to keep her face calm as she asked,

“Ura… jil? What does that mean?”

I widened my eyes.

“Urajil is urajil—what meaning? Now that I think about it, that’s weird. What kind of teacher doesn’t know ‘urajil’? Then you probably don’t know ‘yeombyeong’ either?”

“…….”

She quietly closed the door and left, and I laughed loudly in triumph.

To be flustered by words so mild they wouldn’t even make the cut among real curses!

Thanks to her, I realized I didn’t actually know the true meanings of many vulgar words I used—but I didn’t care.

Swearing was my way of showing just how terrible a girl I was. The goal was to get a reaction like, “That one’s absolutely impossible to deal with!”—just like Miss Julia had given me moments ago.

So words like “urajil” or “yeombyeong” truly had no meaning.

A little while later, Miss Julia returned carrying a large book. She thumped it down on the desk and said,

“This is the Imperial Dictionary compiled by the Tagar Royal Court. Shall we look up ‘urajil’ here?”

What was she talking about?

“A dictionary is a book that collects the precise meanings of words. Can you read?”

“Of course.”

My mother never let me become that ignorant. You need to read to avoid being cheated when settling accounts at the apothecary, after all.

“But did His Majesty the Emperor write all of this himself?”

“He didn’t write it personally. Scholars employed by the royal court did. They belong to the Academy. Do you know the Royal Academy?”

When I shook my head vigorously, she flipped through the dictionary absentmindedly and said,

“Let’s look up ‘urajil’ first.”

Without realizing it, I leaned my head forward to follow where her fingertip pointed.

She explained that words in the dictionary were arranged in a specific order.

“Here it is. Urajil. Hmm… it carries the meaning of a mild curse, wishing the other person would be dragged to prison and suffer greatly. Oh dear—Miss Roar, did you wish for me to go to prison?”

I shook my head vigorously in surprise.

‘No! I only wanted you to leave the room—going to prison for no reason? That’d be truly awful!’

Miss Julia stared at my flustered face with wide eyes and said,

“Then Miss Roar disagrees with the scholars of the Royal Academy?”

“Yes, it’s different!”

I affirmed strongly right away. I didn’t want Miss Julia believing I’d done something I hadn’t.

“Those people just say whatever they want…”

“Hmm. The Academy probably isn’t that strange a place… Here, take a look.”

She brought another book and unfolded a large organizational chart.

“At the very top is His Majesty, below him the Empress’s palace, then the palaces of Their Imperial Highnesses the princes and princesses… Ah, the Academy falls directly under the administration.”

She also explained about the Count. She said he was a remarkable man known as the “Third Lion of the Empire.”

The title meant he was a guardian of the Tagar Imperial House, whose emblem was the lion—and that His Majesty trusted him absolutely.

The First Lion was a Duke who commanded several powerful knightly orders, and the Second Lion had died long ago; His Majesty had left that position vacant in his honor.

I didn’t even realize I was being taught—Miss Julia had me “studying” before I knew it. Ten-year-old Rorisha Roar was just a foolish little know-it-all.

Those few months at the Count’s villa were probably the most peaceful time of my life.

But that was all the happiness a bastard child could ever have.

One afternoon, while playing in the garden with Miss Julia, a carriage arrived.

But the person who stepped out wasn’t the Count—it was a beautiful noblewoman with red hair.

“Countess!”

The noblewoman seemed not to hear Miss Julia’s startled exclamation.

With cold eyes, she asked me,

“Are you that flower?”

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife

I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro

When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.

After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.

Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.

Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.

At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.

Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.

The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.

He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.

[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]

  1. Apu Chapter 20

How sweet are they!! I’m curious how well our ML will come to know Roba. I have a feeling he’ll know more about her than she does herself. And we finally get to hear about the princess Roba will come to support. Roba will be the “little lion cub” she raises. I wonder if she has the intention to rise to the throne. Or if she really has no familial bond to the second prince. I think Roba will come to believe the princess hold romantic feelings towards ML and try to avoid him. ML knows the princess just wants him as a shield and will openly pursue Roba, Roba will just this he’s trying to get her in trouble with the princess. And the princess wouldn’t support ML courting Roba because she using her as protection. And ML wouldn’t like that cause only he can protect Roba, Roba can protect herself tho. This is my guess, I wonder to see if this is accurate or not. They are so cute hhehehe

There is an error!! I spent more than half the chapter trying to figure out who the “earl” was—> it’s her father, “the count”. I’m a little confused, is she back countdom or back in the village? The duke seems very kind. I wonder if the prince will want Roba as an apothecary, and will make the ML bring her to their side.
