Stop Coming On to Me (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 14
This guy must have some nerve to treat people like fools.
I felt like I should burst out in anger, but I couldn’t. There was no malice in him.
If someone like me, sharpened by malice, couldn’t sense it, then there was no malice at all.
He just managed to fluster me to the point of near malice.
“Please, make me understand, you jerk. Aren’t you the empire’s young lion?”
The empire’s young lion has no obligation to make me understand. But my mind stubbornly insisted otherwise.
He stopped laughing, gazing at me with a crooked smile.
“I guess rolling around with soldiers in the Tunbar Mountains messed up my speech, but seeing a noble lady act like that feels strange, so I got a bit too excited.”
What kind of pervert is this? Who told him to get excited? I could just twist something…
My inner calm, serene for so long, turned into a muddy mess stirred up by Rocard Kaidel. The murky desires buried deep inside came bubbling up.
If I’m honest, the problem was me. I could’ve just endured it once and acted polite. But strangely, with this man, that was hard to do.
Young Lord Kaidel said with a smile,
“You really make people curious. What’s your deal?”
I steadied myself and said,
“If you need herbs, just say so. We only deal in top-grade ones.”
“Did the count open a shop for you?”
I asked what kind of nonsense that was.
“If it was my shop, would I be making deliveries?”
“Hmm.”
Young Lord Kaidel looked slightly embarrassed, then suddenly said solemnly,
“By the way, don’t you owe me an apology, Miss Roar?”
“…”
I slowly backed away. But he took a big step forward, closing the distance.
“I saw your running skills that day, Miss Roar, but if you want, I’m willing to show you mine. Miss Roar.”
Calling me Miss Roar over and over is annoying. Is Roar my name or his?
Anyway, it was clear that the empire’s youngest knight was warning me not to run away.
“I haven’t had the chance to bring this up before, but with this kind of coincidence, hasn’t the heavens given me an opportunity?”
“That time, I… I think it was understandable to misunderstand…”
My voice, reaching my own ears, sounded small, pathetic, and groveling.
He widened his eyes and asked,
“So you’re saying you did nothing wrong, Miss Roar?”
“No, that’s not it…”
I didn’t even know why I was being so stubborn.
But it wasn’t hard to guess. That day’s memory. The awful feeling of wandering the night streets after giving up on the academy exam.
But that’s my issue, and I did owe Young Lord Kaidel an apology.
I steadied my voice and said,
“I’m sorry, Young Lord. It was wrong to accuse you of being a creep and to run off without apologizing even after knowing it was a misunderstanding!”
I was sincerely admitting my fault. But contrary to my heart, my voice rose sharply, cracking as if I were yelling.
Young Lord Kaidel seemed to feel the same, looking unsure of what expression to make.
I cried out,
“Really, really, I’m sorry!”
He furrowed his brows and reluctantly replied,
“Alright… I accept your apology.”
What’s with that attitude? It felt like he was reluctantly accepting it because he couldn’t stand looking at me anymore, and that irritated me too.
I needed to leave quickly. This man was like a quagmire. A dark, swirling pit of my mistakes and dark history.
“Then, excuse me, Young Lord. I hope we don’t cross paths again. For your sake too.”
“Where to?”
As I turned to leave, my foot twisted, and I awkwardly turned back.
“What?”
“The herb shop, where is it?”
Trending
“…”
He leaned toward me, lowering his height a bit, as if to say, look at my face, listen to my softened voice up close.
“Should I send people to find it? I’m good at that.”
The image of knights surrounding his carriage on the day of the academy entrance exam flashed in my mind. Even half of them could easily track me down in the city.
After that gentle threat, he straightened up. His posture looked even more upright after bending and rising.
Annoying noble jerk.
I realized then the real reason I couldn’t easily apologize to him.
It was because he seemed like a noble. Not like our count, but the first real noble I’d ever met.
A pure, perfect state I could never reach.
I stared into his deep, mysterious eyes, mouth agape, then let out a sigh.
“Will you keep it a secret?”
He looked down at me and gave a slight smile.
“Do you think anyone would come to me asking where Miss Rorisha Roar works at an herb shop?”
“…”
Of course.
Annoying jerk.
“It’s Tolman’s Herb Shop at the end of Valois Street! I hope we never meet again.”
I spat it out quickly and turned so fast the basket nearly flew off from the centrifugal force.
“…!”
I froze as if broken.
My ragged breathing made my shoulders heave. The basket rose and fell with them.
It was embarrassing to say. I felt like dying.
But I had to return today with the payment for the first deal I’d closed.
I turned back and shouted at him,
“Hey! Take me to the guest waiting room at the Third Imperial Palace!”
Young Lord Rocard, about to enter the building, turned back and grinned like a mischievous girl.
His suppressed smile was so infuriating!
He leaned toward me and whispered near my ear,
“You owe me, Miss Roar.”
Then he strode past me, taking the lead. He didn’t forget to snatch the basket from my arm as he passed.
Noticing the basket was unexpectedly empty, he lifted it again as if checking its weight, then walked on lightly.
I kept twisting the hem of my skirt the whole way.
‘Ugh, ugh, ugh!’

Misha returned home for the first time last weekend. It was over a month after entering the academy.
The countess prepared various dishes and redecorated the house to welcome her proud academy cadet daughter. The mansion felt like a festival.
As everyone waited, the carriage arrived, and Misha stepped out in her academy uniform. Seeing this, the countess gasped and teared up.
…The academy uniform looked cool even to me.
In contrast, the count was as calm as ever, perhaps even a bit subdued. It was subtle, something only I could notice.
It didn’t seem like it was because she’d been gone so long, or maybe there was a rule against wearing the uniform outside the academy, but I didn’t know.
Come to think of it, it had been a while since I’d teased Misha for my own comfort. And since I’d been annoyed watching her.
From the moment she got off the carriage, Misha didn’t stop talking, even during the meal.
The academy this, the academy that. She made it sound like even the dust in the air at the academy was made of gold.
If you believed her, you’d think unicorns and dragons lived at the imperial academy.
But the countess, excited after so long, kept nodding along, saying, “Yes, yes.”
Since I’d somewhat sorted out my life’s path, Misha’s endless bragging wasn’t utterly unbearable.
If it were Misha, she’d probably say carrying the Roar name and working at an herb shop was some vulgar act.
Her boasting was so boring that I imagined a unicorn prancing across the dining table. The count just ate quietly.
When Misha finally paused to catch her breath, the countess said,
“But isn’t the food quality at the academy poor? Your skin looks a bit rough.”

“I’m just tired from studying.”
Pfft. The tiny laugh I let out was only heard by the count beside me. I glanced at him and buried my nose in my plate.
Meanwhile, the countess’s eyes widened like saucers, and she stood up, napkin in hand. She dabbed her tears with it and left the room.
Misha Roar studying? That was news enough to make someone cry.
Then the count asked in a calm voice,
“Are you keeping up with your studies?”
“So-so. I’m trying hard. Father, could you get me a tutor? Someone who can come to the house on weekends?”
The count looked at Misha with a subtle expression and didn’t answer right away.
“It would help with my grades. The academy… everyone’s so intense, I need to work harder to get ahead.”
“Alright.”
Only then did I notice the count’s expression brighten slightly.
Even a caterpillar has its talents, and Misha Roar was studying.
And aiming to get ahead? What a world to live in.
Hmm, isn’t this a bit off?

Servant: I heard that mermen have no human nature.
Jiang Yang looks at the merman with wet puppy eyes, obsessively calling her ‘A Yang’ like a childish infant: “You call this having no human nature?”
With great difficulty, she releases the merman back into the sea and returns to shore.
Who would have thought that in less than half a month, the merman, who should have been freely wandering in the South China Sea, would shed his scales, endure the pain of losing his tail, transform into human legs, and come ashore to find her?
He kneels at her feet, rubbing her palm, with merman tears rolling down: “A Yang, don’t abandon me.”

How sweet are they!! I’m curious how well our ML will come to know Roba. I have a feeling he’ll know more about her than she does herself. And we finally get to hear about the princess Roba will come to support. Roba will be the “little lion cub” she raises. I wonder if she has the intention to rise to the throne. Or if she really has no familial bond to the second prince. I think Roba will come to believe the princess hold romantic feelings towards ML and try to avoid him. ML knows the princess just wants him as a shield and will openly pursue Roba, Roba will just this he’s trying to get her in trouble with the princess. And the princess wouldn’t support ML courting Roba because she using her as protection. And ML wouldn’t like that cause only he can protect Roba, Roba can protect herself tho. This is my guess, I wonder to see if this is accurate or not. They are so cute hhehehe

There is an error!! I spent more than half the chapter trying to figure out who the “earl” was—> it’s her father, “the count”. I’m a little confused, is she back countdom or back in the village? The duke seems very kind. I wonder if the prince will want Roba as an apothecary, and will make the ML bring her to their side.
