Stop Coming On to Me (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 16
I almost threw up.
The moment I said that, Misha’s face instantly turned bright red. Her eyes darted downward, avoiding mine—she looked utterly naive.
If that selfish girl calls what she’s doing “love,” then love must surely be nothing more than a name slapped onto the delusion of self-satisfaction dressed up as something noble.
My stomach churned with fury.
Does she even know how much it costs to hire five private tutors for her? I sent her off to the academy, and the very moment she enrolled, all she does is chase romance.
All while treating my life as if it were something trivial to be tossed around for her whims.
But Misha began chattering away with childlike innocence.
“He’s so tall! When sunlight hits his black hair, it sparkles wildly! His face… how do I even describe it? He’s handsome. Not just handsome—there’s something more…”
I couldn’t really argue with his looks myself.
I just think a face like that belongs not to Lord Kaidel, but carved into a statue and erected before the Imperial Palace for the public good.
“Enough, let’s move on. It’s not like I’m going to paint his portrait or anything.”
“Oh, if only you’d seen him once—you could’ve written a hundred letters!”
Yeah. I could probably draft about a hundred lawsuits.
“I saw him during the male cadets’ combat training—I thought I was hallucinating! I couldn’t believe my own eyes!”
“Why?”
“Pabat, pababat! Even the instructors were so stunned they clapped along!”
“Pabat… sigh… Never mind. He’s a knight who led a private regiment into battle—it’s only natural.”
“You have no idea how popular he is! He’s always kind to everyone. Whenever cadets have disputes, they go to him—he’s fair and wise.”
This time, she’d gone too far. Kind? Fair? Wise?
I never realized blind infatuation could be this terrifying—I’ve learned something new today.
If not, then Rocard Kaidel must be an unfathomably insincere man.
Who’s the one putting on a performance here?
“And he’s brilliant at his studies too! Ever since returning to the academy, he’s been topping every exam. Someone like me can’t even come close to his feet! Everyone adores him.”
As Misha spoke, her eyes instantly grew misty.
Surely not.
“You don’t mean… you’re studying just because of that lord?”
“My grades have improved! I’m still last, but my score went up a lot compared to last time… Huff! I don’t know!”
Misha, having blurted out her own grades, flopped face-down onto the sofa and began sobbing.
“Last place…”
Only then did I understand the Count’s gloomy expression.
The Count must surely be either an angel or a clergyman. If my daughter were dragging my name through the mud by constantly ranking last, I’d never be able to pretend I didn’t notice.
Just… ugh.
I stared at Misha’s backside heaving with sobs and briefly considered slipping off to the bathroom.
But now that I’d glimpsed her true feelings, I was already far too deeply involved.
Misha suddenly cried out.
“That’s exactly why I’ve studied so hard! Even though I couldn’t understand a single word, I kept reading and memorizing—enduring even as my skin broke out!”
Her skin broke out? That must’ve been tough.
I let out a deep sigh, stood up, and asked,
“Countess, are you really going to take responsibility?”
Misha sat up, quickly wiped her tears, and nodded with fierce determination.
“Promise me!”
I was left speechless by the resolve I’d never seen before in Misha Roar.
“I really don’t need clothes like that.”
“Alright, alright, I get it.”
When I sat down at the desk, Misha glanced at me furtively, watching my every move—but her expression was just like a child staring at a candy dangling right before her eyes.
I felt utterly helpless.
If I hadn’t known exactly who the other person was, maybe I could’ve used my imagination to write something.
But all I could picture was Lord Kaidel smirking unpleasantly in my mind, and not a single flattering phrase came to me.
Ugh, damn it.
I clutched my head in frustration and moved the pen. It took far longer than I’d expected to finish the letter.
Trending
I glared at it until the ink dried completely, then beckoned to Misha.
She hurried over to the desk, and just as she reached for the letter, I snatched it back.
“You’re last in class, yet you think it’s fine to slack off on your studies like this?”
“But love is my strength!”
This ridiculous girl…
Misha snatched the letter from my hand and quickly opened it to read.
“To Kaidel, the young lion hailed as a hero. I have spent many deep, long nights wondering how to convey this heart of mine. Even the finest incense from Delpha cannot rival the fragrance of your character…”
Misha’s lips trembled as she finished reading, then she clutched the letter to her chest and let out a squeal.
“It’s so beautiful, Rorisha! Reading this, I think I might fall in love with myself!”
I replied indifferently.
“Think carefully. If I were you, I’d never send this. I’m being completely serious, Misha.”
“No. I will send it—to confess my feelings through this letter and improve my grades until he recognizes me. There are only outstanding cadets around him, so I have no other way.”
Misha was now deaf and blind to everything else around her.
I stood from my chair and gestured for her to take my seat.
“Huh?”
“So you’ll send it in my handwriting?”
“Oh, right!”
“You know, letters have their own rhythm too. Copy it exactly as I wrote it—every single character in the exact same position, not a single mistake.”
“Mm-hmm, got it. Don’t talk to me—I need to concentrate.”
After a long while, Misha finished copying it onto pink stationery, then tucked it carefully against her chest and left.
“I’m returning to the academy tomorrow, so don’t look for me, Rorisha.”
She was already gone, but I quietly answered to myself,
“Okay. I won’t.”
A strange flutter stirred in my chest, mingling slight guilt with excitement.
Is this what revenge feels like?
I flopped straight onto my bed.
‘But it’s already done.’
“I was curious what book you were reading.”
“Miss Kalin Ancart.”
“It’s fine. There’s no one else in the library right now.”
The academy library was completely empty on weekends. Since exams had just ended, most cadets had returned home.
That’s why Kalin said it was alright to speak aloud—they were the only ones there.
Rocard, who had been selecting a book between the shelves, straightened his back and bowed politely as she appeared.
The Ancart family wielded immense influence in commerce. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that most of the Empire’s overseas trade passed through Viscount Ancart.
Kalin Ancart was tall with a long neck. Her brown hair was always neatly pinned up, and she wore no makeup.
Her eyes were slightly sharp, but she constantly smiled, softening that impression. Though not conventionally beautiful, she possessed a grace that added its own kind of elegance.
She, too, approached Rocard and bowed respectfully—seeming to show interest in the rival who’d pushed her to second place immediately upon his return to the academy.
When Rocard closed the book he’d been holding and offered it to her, Kalin laughed in surprise.
“‘Legends of the Toonbar Mountains’? That’s unexpected, my lord. Isn’t Toonbar something you’d be thoroughly sick of by now?”
“The Amata prisoners cursed us in many tongues. Back then, I heard names and monsters I’d never known—I was too overwhelmed to make sense of any of it. If you’d like, you may borrow it first.”
“Overwhelmed on the battlefield?” she teased lightly.
Kalin gave a faint smile.
“I’m truly amazed.”
“What do you mean?”
“The way you speak, my lord. It’s a novel experience for me.”
Rocard quietly studied her brown eyes. He recognized the sharp, intelligent glint swirling within them—but it wasn’t a light that made him smile.
“My uncle also returned this time, so I heard vivid accounts of what happened there. They were terribly horrifying and painful stories.”
“…”
“But when you speak of them, my lord, it sounds like a fairy tale. Where has all the pain you must have felt gone? Or is such suffering truly nothing to an eagle?”
The eagle was the symbol of House Kaidel. For generations, the Kaidels had risen through martial prowess by training exceptional knights. Thus, Rocard was accustomed to others harboring certain illusions about his family.

Rocard fell silent for a moment, gazing at the books lined neatly on the shelf.
“In those moments, I think of those who died before me. That leaves no time to dwell on my own emotions.”
His voice, which had grown heavy, quickly brightened again.
“Besides, there’s no need to rob cadets of their sleep with grim tales. After all, we marched to war precisely to protect them.”
Kalin watched him quietly for a while, then bowed her head respectfully.
“Eternal glory to Tagar.”
Rocard returned the bow to acknowledge her respect.
Straightening up, Kalin smiled and said,
“I intend to work hard and beat you in the next exam. What do you think?”
“Gladly. I enjoy a good challenge.”
At Rocard’s cheerful reply, Kalin shook her head with a smile.
“Don’t laugh. I truly believe I have a real chance. You’re often at the Imperial Palace attending to His Highness the Second Prince, so you miss many classes. It may be unfair, but I’ll seize that opening.”
“As His Highness the Second Prince’s attendant, I must also maintain my grades—so it won’t be that easy for you.”
Kalin blinked and stared at him intently.
“…So His Highness Greyan favors capable people, doesn’t he?”
“…”
“Then, if I maintain my grades until graduation… might I also have the chance to follow you into the palace?”

How sweet are they!! I’m curious how well our ML will come to know Roba. I have a feeling he’ll know more about her than she does herself. And we finally get to hear about the princess Roba will come to support. Roba will be the “little lion cub” she raises. I wonder if she has the intention to rise to the throne. Or if she really has no familial bond to the second prince. I think Roba will come to believe the princess hold romantic feelings towards ML and try to avoid him. ML knows the princess just wants him as a shield and will openly pursue Roba, Roba will just this he’s trying to get her in trouble with the princess. And the princess wouldn’t support ML courting Roba because she using her as protection. And ML wouldn’t like that cause only he can protect Roba, Roba can protect herself tho. This is my guess, I wonder to see if this is accurate or not. They are so cute hhehehe

There is an error!! I spent more than half the chapter trying to figure out who the “earl” was—> it’s her father, “the count”. I’m a little confused, is she back countdom or back in the village? The duke seems very kind. I wonder if the prince will want Roba as an apothecary, and will make the ML bring her to their side.
