Stop Coming On to Me (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 13
Since the Second Prince had returned to the palace, Rocard intended to focus on academy life for the time being.
He planned to dig through the dark earth here and there to see if there were any gems he could unearth. But upon seeing the youngest daughter of the Third Duke, it seemed that endeavor had run aground right from the first attempt.
He knocked on the door of the academic office, having arrived there unnoticed.
Smiling, Rocard said to the academic director, who greeted him warmly.
“I’d like to see the entrance exam papers. Is that possible?”
“Of course, my lord. You may review your own exam papers anytime within a year.”
“What I’d like to see is Labory Siha’s exam paper.”
Labory Siha—the mysterious top-ranking new student.
The academic director looked at him with a troubled expression, then rose from his chair.
He had no doubt that Lord Kaidel was aware of the academy rule permitting students to view only their own transcripts and exam papers.
Thus, he judged there was no need to bring it up again and cause mutual discomfort.
“Please wait a moment, Lord Kaidel.”
Rocard knew so much that he could hardly remember all the soldiers and knights who had died pointlessly on the battlefield.
Yet every moment he had risked his life was now being rewarded—because whenever he stood before a door, it willingly opened for him.
The herbal shop clerk spoke as if he couldn’t understand.
“Do you really enjoy deliveries that much?”
“I have to work hard, don’t I?”
I replied with a faint smile, then put on my cloak. With a basket hooked over my arm, I stepped out onto the street.
It turned out that Mr. Whinid Roiman, whom I’d assumed was an alchemist, was actually the palace apothecary—and his order arrived in just two days. He probably practiced alchemy as a hobby.
A palace apothecary! How could I not be thrilled to have such an important client? If I managed to keep him satisfied, my standing as a herbal merchant would surely leap forward.
I was slightly elated because I could show off having delivered earlier than promised. As I hummed a tune in the rented carriage, I remembered something that had happened that morning.
The Count said he’d hold my coming-of-age ceremony to coincide with my birthday next month and asked me to think about how I’d like it arranged.
But nothing came to mind. I had no noble friends to invite, and it’s not as if a beard would sprout on my face just because another birthday passed.
I might have spent the day feeling rather gloomy over this, but instead I found myself slightly uplifted by the potential of this herbal business, akin to alchemy.
However, when I arrived before the Third Palace, I realized there was a problem I hadn’t considered until now.
This palace housed the officials handling various imperial administrative duties and their servants—in other words, it was strictly a working area of the palace.
To enter, I had to sign my name in the registry, but writing “Roar” would clearly cause trouble.
Oh no… this is bad….
I only realized this after stepping inside the palace, and my body froze.
“What’s your name?”
Startled out of my daze by the palace guard’s impatient prompt, I blurted out the name I’d used as a child.
“Rorisha Roba.”
I felt guilty toward the Count, then wondered whether I even should feel guilty, and finally decided I didn’t want to feel guilty at all.
‘My lord, I’m working right now. Besides, my coming-of-age is just around the corner—you’d prefer I handle my own affairs, wouldn’t you?’
I steeled myself and followed the palace servant inside.
“Wait here.”
‘I expected the palace to be grander…’
Abandoned in a small, ordinary waiting room, I sat on a long sofa hugging my basket. With no one around who might recognize me, I unnecessarily pulled my hood back over my head.
If His Highness the Second Prince appeared, there’d be no escape—but someone so distinguished surely wouldn’t frequent such a place.
After a short while, a young man entered wearing the same robe as Mr. Roiman.
His robe was crisp and luxurious. Mr. Roiman must be an extremely frugal person.
“Follow me. The director wishes to see you inside.”
“The director?”
Mr. Roiman was clearly the head of the apothecary. In such cases, using his formal title would help build trust.
“You’ve come to see Director Roiman, haven’t you?”
“Yes. I’ve come to see Director Whinid Roiman.”
I sprang to my feet and followed him.
He led me out of the building into the garden, then deeper and deeper into a secluded corner where an herb garden had been arranged.
“Oh my goodness!”
Mr. Roiman sat on a small wooden stool, wearing gardening gloves and peeling herb bark with a knife.
Trending
“Director Roiman, I’ve brought the delivery person.”
At the young man’s words, Mr. Roiman smiled quietly.
“I’m surprised. I didn’t expect you so soon.”
“I’m just like that. Hahaha!”
Embarrassed by my awkward laugh, I quickly adopted a sheepish expression. Looking around, I saw a considerable variety of herbs planted in small quantities.
Self-sufficient, huh? That wasn’t good for business.
To me, wide-eyed with surprise, the director said,
“Shall we look at the goods?”
I hurriedly opened my basket to show him.
“Look. I selected only the finest portions from the entire shipment.”
When he chuckled softly, I declared confidently,
“Whether herbs or alchemical ingredients—just place an order anytime.”
After all, what is the essence of an alchemist? They are a resilient breed who, for thousands of years, have kept repeating the same mistakes over and over in pursuit of a task no one has ever accomplished.
So if you, Director, keep placing orders with me again and again and again…
Though lost in such daydreams, I maintained as calm a smile as possible on the outside.
He, too, gave an awkward smile and said,
“Should I pay the balance now, or shall I send a voucher to your shop?”
“I’d prefer to take it directly, if possible. I’ve brought a receipt—it’s like a superstition for first transactions. Of course, a voucher is fine if it’s inconvenient.”
It was a complete lie. I simply wanted to physically hold and savor the fruits of my own labor.
My life deserved that much pleasure…
“You can wait in the waiting room—I’ll bring it to you. I’ll respect your little superstition. But your name…?”
“I’m Rorisha. Next time you come, please ask for Rorisha Roba. Thank you for your first order, Director Roiman!”
I beamed and turned away.
‘Wow, I totally nailed it. I sounded just like a seasoned herbal merchant!’
The thought of holding money I’d earned myself made me giddy with excitement.
I wasn’t sure if this deal would continue, but remembering I’d decided to live only for today ever since I abandoned the academy entrance exam made me feel better again.
I strolled toward the waiting room, humming happily. I kept walking… and walking…
A short while later, I found myself lost in the palace, holding an empty basket.
Having come through the garden, I thought returning through it would lead me back to the waiting room entrance—but not only did I not see the waiting room, the flowers along the path grew increasingly abundant and splendid.
Glancing around, I noticed even the servants who’d been bustling about just minutes ago had vanished without a trace.
‘This is bad. And in a whole new way.’
Just as I thought that, I heard a soft chuckle.
Instinctively recognizing whose voice it was, a chill ran down my spine.
It was him, as expected—Lord Rocard Kaidel.
“What are you doing here? Still playing at being a commoner today?”
“Can you even play half a role?”
When I retorted that I was only half commoner, Lord Kaidel’s eyebrows twitched slightly as if caught off guard.
Leaning against the building entrance and smiling toward me, he walked gently into the garden where I stood.
“How about accepting kindness with kindness, Miss Roar?”
“Well… strangely enough, it’s hard to recognize your kindness, Lord Kaidel.”
After all, even if you caught a pickpocket, you’d still look like a pervert, wouldn’t you?
I admit I was being sensitive, but he wasn’t treating me like other noble ladies anyway.
If he’d encountered Misha here, he would have bowed respectfully, asked why she was present, and offered assistance—unlike how he was acting now.
I’d already witnessed such grace and decorum from him, so I knew this wasn’t just my assumption.
Lord Kaidel frowned, crossed his arms over his chest, and stood before me.
“You still haven’t answered. The Count didn’t enter the palace today—so what are you doing here? Could it be you came looking for me…?”
I wanted to smack my own wandering eyes. But before I could, his last words sharply focused my gaze.
Me? Looking for you? Why?
I shouted abruptly,
“I’m here for a delivery!”

He repeated it as if mimicking a foreign language he’d never heard before.
“A delivery?”
“I’m working at a herbal shop now. At Jebreon, you saw one half of me—today, this is my other half, my lord.”
I’d firmly prepared myself to remain composed no matter what expression he made.
Whether he saw me as a disgraceful noblewoman delivering herbs, or an ungrateful girl tarnishing her father’s name by chasing petty coins outside—I wouldn’t let my expression waver.
But then he widened his eyes and said, his tone as if something grave had occurred,
“Is there anything you can’t do?”
For a moment, my mind went blank. Of the million possible things I’d anticipated him saying, that wasn’t one of them.
I stammered,
“Why… why are you asking that as a question?”
“Wouldn’t working there require considerable knowledge of herbs?”
“Y-yes! I know herbs inside and out.”
“…Inside and out? Pfft.”
Lord Kaidel couldn’t suppress his laughter, as if he’d just heard another strange phrase.

How sweet are they!! I’m curious how well our ML will come to know Roba. I have a feeling he’ll know more about her than she does herself. And we finally get to hear about the princess Roba will come to support. Roba will be the “little lion cub” she raises. I wonder if she has the intention to rise to the throne. Or if she really has no familial bond to the second prince. I think Roba will come to believe the princess hold romantic feelings towards ML and try to avoid him. ML knows the princess just wants him as a shield and will openly pursue Roba, Roba will just this he’s trying to get her in trouble with the princess. And the princess wouldn’t support ML courting Roba because she using her as protection. And ML wouldn’t like that cause only he can protect Roba, Roba can protect herself tho. This is my guess, I wonder to see if this is accurate or not. They are so cute hhehehe

There is an error!! I spent more than half the chapter trying to figure out who the “earl” was—> it’s her father, “the count”. I’m a little confused, is she back countdom or back in the village? The duke seems very kind. I wonder if the prince will want Roba as an apothecary, and will make the ML bring her to their side.
