If You Want A Cheeky Seductress (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 3
Lucas and Elise sat where her father and mother should have been. She thought she understood the reason—but didn’t want to know. She desperately hoped her thoughts, drifting stubbornly in one direction, were wrong.
So Roxiana clenched her skirt tightly and waited for Lucas’s reply.
Lucas watched Roxiana with a trace of pity before giving a small nod. At his signal, everyone in the audience chamber hurriedly filed out. Now only one knight guarding Lucas, Elise, and Roxiana remained in the room.
Only then did Roxiana realize Lasha was nowhere to be seen.
“Lasha…?”
Lucas chuckled in exasperation at her mumbled question.
“Roxi.”
Though her family always called her “Rotti,” Lucas had always used “Roxi.” His tender voice, calling her by that pet name, made Roxiana hope—just for an instant.
This couldn’t be anything serious. Nothing terrible had happened. Something had gone slightly, ever so slightly wrong—but surely it could still be fixed.
“You’ve always been like this—overthinking everything and acting so carefree in too many ways.”
That wasn’t true. Roxiana felt no carefreeness now. Countless thoughts surged like a storm, sweeping in and out repeatedly, threatening to drag her under and make her lose her mind. Simply standing here without fainting was already overwhelming.
“I’ve always been utterly sick of that side of you—I can’t stand it anymore.”
What on earth did that mean?
Lucas was the one who had always showered her with affection, calling her “my pretty flower.” He was always the one who kissed her first, who reached for her hand. She couldn’t comprehend the cold words now slipping from his lips.
“Still… you were kind of cute when you were younger….”
Lucas slowly descended the steps before his chair and approached Roxiana.
Roxiana stood frozen, taking him in as he drew near. She searched his face desperately for any hint of playfulness or warmth, praying this was all just a prank—a surprise meant to tease her.
But when Lucas stood before her, he stared at her with icy, indifferent eyes and said,
“I never imagined you’d grow up to be so repulsive.”
Roxiana looked straight into his eyes, level with her own. It wasn’t that he was unusually short—it was that she was unusually tall.
“Looks like you’ve grown again.”
“You’ve gotten so tall.”
For about two years, every time Lucas saw Roxiana, he’d made a remark about her height. Those offhand comments, once easily dismissed, now etched themselves sharply in her mind.
It felt as if a bucket of cold water had been thrown over her.
“Where is Father?”
The trembling had stopped.
“Where are Mother and the rest of my family?”
“Good, Roxi. You should’ve asked that first—not about some handmaiden’s wellbeing.”
At Lucas’s glance, the knight approached with a box that had been placed beside the king’s chair.
Roxiana’s eyes locked onto the box.
She didn’t want it coming closer. She wanted to look away, to run—but she could do nothing as it stopped right before her eyes.
“Open it and show her. A princess should at least know what became of her own family.”
No sooner had Lucas spoken than the knight opened the box.
The moment the lid lifted—
“Oh….”
A groan escaped her lips.
“Aaaahhh…!”
Her voice tore through the air, ragged and raw—and then, with a sharp snap, everything went black.

“…Your Highness. Princess, please wake up.”
Her body felt as if it were floating on water. Someone kept shaking her shoulders—it was irritating.
She didn’t want to open her eyes. She longed to stay wrapped in darkness, thinking of nothing. She wished to drift through the void, knowing nothing at all.
“Princess.”
But she couldn’t remain ignorant.
She remembered clearly the last thing she’d seen before losing consciousness. Even in the dark, that image floated before her eyes, refusing to vanish.
Parts of her father—and her mother.
Her eyelids felt unbearably heavy. Was it from being soaked in tears?
Tears streamed endlessly from her tightly closed eyes. It felt as if a blade had torn through her flesh and was now churning inside her.
“Lasha. You’re safe.”
Roxiana spoke without opening her eyes. Lasha sniffled.

“Y-your Highness… Your Highness, what should we do? Our poor princess—what can we possibly do?”
“Do you know what happened to my brothers… to Lanien?”
Silence answered for her. Roxiana understood what that quiet meant.
She didn’t want to believe it—but it was reality.
Lucas had killed her entire family. Now she had no family left.
The thought she’d had when leaving the Grand Temple—this visit to Khanta would be her last time seeing her family—now felt like something from a lifetime ago.
That wasn’t their final meeting.
The day she’d departed for the Grand Temple—
The day her father had said, “Be careful and come back safely.”
The day her mother had hugged her and said, “Rotti, you mustn’t get hurt, understand?”
The day her older brothers had teased her: “Don’t cause trouble,” “Rotti, they say you can’t swear at the Grand Temple,” “Don’t hit the priests.”
The day her youngest brother Lanien had sniffled and said, “If anyone bullies you, send me a letter. I’ll fly over and protect you.”
That had been their final meeting—and their final conversation.
What expression had I shown my family that day? Did I smile… or frown?
She couldn’t remember. Everything felt hazy, like a dream.
If only I’d known it would be the last time, I would’ve studied my family’s faces more closely—etched every precious detail of their eyes, voices, and smiles deep into my mind.
“Ah… ah… ngh…!”
She thought she heard the cry of a wounded beast—until she realized it was coming from herself.
Lasha watched Roxiana, curled up and wailing, with heartbreaking pity.
‘Our poor princess… what can we do?’
She worried more about Roxiana than her own plight. Roxiana had been unconscious for two full days, and during that time, Lasha had heard many things from Victien IV’s servant, who’d been imprisoned alongside her.
The servant, dragged away last night, had never returned.
How could she possibly tell Roxiana that Elise had been involved in what happened to the Kingdom of Khanta?
Princess Elise Heilis—Roxiana’s dearest friend.
Even Lasha had doubted her own ears when she first heard the story.
Though Elise had sometimes shown signs of jealousy toward Roxiana, they’d been inseparable since birth—closer than sisters.
If Roxiana hadn’t protected Elise’s family when misfortune struck them, Elise herself would’ve met the same fate as her relatives.
‘I have to tell her… but will it change anything?’
It would only bring Roxiana another wound, already shattered by the loss of her family. Perhaps it was better to wait until she’d recovered slightly before sharing this truth.
Just as Lasha reached that decision, the door to the dungeon creaked open.
Even the heavy clank of the door couldn’t stop Roxiana’s wailing. She didn’t notice someone walking down the filthy, dark corridor and stopping before her iron bars.
“Your Highness!”
Only when Lasha shouted with wide eyes did a flicker of awareness return.
“Princess, Princess, you must pull yourself together! You can’t fall apart! If you give in now—Aaah!”
Roxiana fully regained her senses only when Lasha was seized by men and dragged away, shrieking sharply.
Through her blinking eyes, she saw Lasha being hauled off, her mouth gagged. Roxiana bolted upright, reaching out toward her—but two other men grabbed her arms and forced her to her knees.
Only after Lasha had vanished from sight did Roxiana’s eyes shift to Elise standing before her.
“Elise….”
Roxiana barely recalled that Elise had been sitting beside Lucas. The shock of seeing Lucas in her father’s seat had blurred Elise’s presence. In her despair over losing her family, she’d completely forgotten about Elise.
“What… what on earth is going on?”
“Our poor princess.”
Elise’s eyes welled with tears.
“To be in a place like this… how painful this must be for you.”
Elise’s voice was as gentle as ever. She pulled out a handkerchief and dabbed at the tears streaming down Roxiana’s cheeks.
Seeing her longtime friend cry, Roxiana clung to a tiny shred of hope.
Maybe Elise had helped her family—perhaps she’d pretended to go along with Lucas’s plan while secretly saving one of them.
That fragile hope.
“Elise… did Lucas… did he really kill all of my family?”
“Yes, Your Highness. He killed them all—every single one. Even your nieces and nephews were left with no mercy.”
The small flame of hope instantly collapsed, replaced by an even deeper despair than before.

Roxiana felt her vision darken again. Desperate not to lose consciousness once more, she clenched her fists tightly and asked in anguish,
“W-why…? Why be so merciless?”
She understood that Lucas—or rather, the Kingdom of Gania—had been plotting against the Kingdom of Khanta. She didn’t know how, but she knew they’d succeeded in taking Khanta.
Yet that still didn’t justify exterminating the entire Franche family, with whom they’d maintained good relations for so long.
Normally, they would’ve been exiled—or at the very least, the children should’ve been spared.
“Because…”
Elise suddenly covered her face with both hands and burst into tears. She looked so pitiful that Roxiana almost forgot her own suffering and wanted to comfort her.
“Because, Your Highness…”
Between Elise’s fingers, her lips became visible. Roxiana saw Elise’s red mouth curl into a grin.
“Because I told him to.”
