I Accidentally Imprinted On The Wolf Duke (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 8
Hughgray couldn’t sleep properly all night.
It was because Klein Reeden’s body scent, which had climbed up from the tip of his nose, seemed to have penetrated his brain, making his head throb.
Finally, at the crack of dawn, having given up on sleep, he headed to the Second Library, hoping to find any previously unknown side effects related to imprinting in its records.
The Second Library was a secret archive hidden within the First Library, containing all records specifically about House Ulphaz, whose ducal line descended from wolf beastkin.
Originally, beastkin had always been extremely rare, and over centuries of intermingling with humans, nearly all had gone extinct—except for the apex predator lineages.
Humans now believed beastkin emperors and kings existed only in history or legend.
They remained completely unaware that imperial, royal, and highest noble bloodlines had been exclusively inherited through beastkin.
It was far too obvious that if humans ever discovered their rulers were, in fact, the very few remaining beastkin, they would revolt.
Thus, the surviving beastkin allowed—and even actively encouraged—the misconception that their race had gone extinct.
Despite never agreeing on anything else.
Consequently, records concerning beastkin within House Ulphaz were treated as strictly confidential, and the Second Library where they were kept was absolutely forbidden to all without the duke’s explicit permission.
Yet even after thoroughly combing through every document in the Second Library, he found nothing new.
More precisely, there was not a single mention—no matter how hard he looked—of a side effect where, after imprinting, one confused the body scent of someone other than their imprint partner, especially a man.
Reading the records only deepened his sense of self-loathing.
On his way back to his room in that state, he saw the very person causing the problem.
Amid the already complicated turmoil in his mind from imprinting, here came Klein Reeden—the source of yet another problem, like pouring oil onto fire.
He’d been watching him from the far end of the corridor.
Even more intently because his actions seemed odd.
It was truly bizarre how absorbed he was—carrying two huge bags, setting them down, and then closing his own room door with such meticulous slowness over several seconds.
He closed it so intently, it looked as if he were clutching the doorknob and praying.
He didn’t even notice Hughgray standing right behind him.
And then what?
Leaving this early in the morning?
It was absurd to hear him say such nonsense—but Hughgray didn’t need another servant who spoke Tigrum anyway, and it was now pointless to keep him close just because he supposedly lacked a body scent.
Because this fellow was now radiating the strongest scent of all.
He’d kept him as a servant precisely because he thought the boy had no scent—yet now this very person was giving off an overwhelmingly powerful one.
He should be thrown out immediately.
So whether the boy left in the morning or evening didn’t matter at all.
He ought to let him go. It was only right.
The problem was….
Why had a scent that had never existed before suddenly become so intensely strong?
And why, of all things, did he not find that scent unpleasant?
That was it.
Far from finding it unpleasant, he felt intoxicated by it—so much so that he almost wanted to drink it….
Was he mad? Drink it?!
In truth, consumed by a burning thirst, he couldn’t tear his eyes away from Klein Reeden’s neck—the urge to sink his teeth into it right then and there was overwhelming.
He was so frightened of himself that he almost stepped backward.
He truly must be insane.
This had to be an extremely severe side effect of imprinting—to have such deranged physical reactions toward a man.
He needed to find a woman, and this man should be sent away from the house as soon as possible.
So he told him to go.
And that fellow actually left.
Without even a single backward glance until the very end.
He really left.
Well then. So what.
At least this strange side effect was physically resolved.
Since the abnormal reaction occurred only with that fellow.
Now all he needed was to find a woman to quench this unbearable thirst that parched his throat as if it were splitting open.
The problem had become very simple.
That was fortunate. Yes, truly fortunate.

Hughgray stared blankly at the staircase where Klein had disappeared, nodded slowly as if he’d fully accepted his situation, and finally turned toward his own room.
He hesitated.
Yet his feet brought him right back to that spot, and his eyes turned to the doorknob of Klein’s room—the very one Klein had held moments before.
Why had he closed that door so carefully, as if handling delicate glasswork?
On that sudden thought, he reached out and turned the doorknob Klein Reeden had so gently gripped just moments earlier.
“Hah!”
The moment the door opened, a powerful body scent flooded the room, so intense it made him dizzy.
It was an overwhelming fragrance that blurred his consciousness.
Yet, strangely, instead of repulsion, his body moved toward Klein’s room as if pulled by a powerful magnet.
The room was empty.
No luggage remained—only a bed, a nightstand, and a small wardrobe.
Apart from that….
His eyes, scanning the room, settled on the bedding.
Before he realized it, he was approaching the bed and, like someone entranced, lifted the pillow.
The scent was even stronger from the pillow.
What on earth was this strange feeling?
Was it thirst? Longing? Or just heat? He couldn’t tell at all.
“I’ve completely lost it.”
Muttering to himself as if chewing over bitter thoughts, he tightened his grip on the pillow.
To fall into such an inexplicable state in the room of a male servant who’d worked beside him for months—
There was no explanation other than it being a side effect of imprinting.
After all, these symptoms had clearly started the day after imprinting.
So if he could just find his imprint partner, this madness would surely end.
It absolutely had to.
He’d been told that the damn rut following imprinting would strike monthly—and that each episode would be far more intense than before imprinting.
If he failed to find his imprint partner before the next rut, he could end up in a truly dangerous state.
And yet, here he was reacting this strongly to a man’s scent.
By now, the pillow in his hands was completely crushed.
Its state mirrored his own physical and mental condition perfectly.
“Damn it!”
He hurled the pillow onto the bed.
“…!”
But the fierce scowl on his face instantly vanished the moment the pillow landed.
“What… is this?”
He muttered involuntarily upon spotting something on the bed.
He lifted the pillow again.
He hadn’t imagined it.
It was really there.
A few thin strands of golden thread, gleaming softly.
Or so he’d assumed—they might be thread.
Carefully, he picked it up and held it before his eyes.
As expected, it wasn’t thread.
“It’s golden hair.”
It was a long strand of golden hair.
Impossible for Klein, who had short brown hair, to have produced.
Klein Reeden had stayed in this small room for three months.
There was no other servant assigned to clean servants’ quarters.
So how had this ended up here?
He brought the golden hair close to his nose and sniffed.
As expected, it carried that very scent.

The exact same scent—that he couldn’t distinguish whether it belonged to Chloe, the woman he’d imprinted on, or to Klein Reeden.
So potent it pierced his senses from nose to brain in an instant.
Clutching the golden hair tightly, he immediately headed to Wilson’s room, the estate’s steward.
[This is the timeline separator]Chloe left the ducal mansion and went straight to the Information Guild.
“Chloe, long golden hair, blue eyes, height 168, Arne, Dog and Cat’s Night.”
The guild member repeated the information she’d provided.
“Yes!”
“The client is Duke Ulphaz.”
“Yes!”
“Why is the duke looking for this woman?”
“…Yes?”
Chloe was speechless.
“Shouldn’t you tell us exactly what happened there? Did the duke sleep with her?”
“Ye-yes?”
Her voice cracked at the guild member’s uncannily accurate guess.
“Why are you so surprised? When a man looks for a woman, there are only two reasons—he either slept with her or wants to. One or the other.”
“That’s not it at all!”
Chloe raised her voice in protest.
She found it absurd that he thought men sought women for only those two reasons.
Yet her voice cracked precisely because—unfortunately—the reason the duke was searching for her really was one of those two.
“Hmph! Not what? Anyway, fine. Once we have results, I’ll visit the ducal estate.”
The guild member snorted at Chloe’s flushed face.
It felt as if he were saying outright, “You slept with the duke,” and she shuddered.
She hurriedly left the guild building.
She thought this emergency, caused by one night’s mistake, was finally over—and that she could truly return home now.
“…!”
That is, if Duke Hughgray Ulphaz hadn’t been standing right outside the guild building, waiting for her.
As soon as she stepped out and turned around, the sight of the duke froze both her legs stiff as poles.
No wonder he’d let her go so easily.
The duke stood rigidly at the entrance of the guild alley.
Like a gatekeeper.
Daring her to try passing by.
To exit the Information Guild alley, she absolutely had to go through that entrance.
Therefore, as long as the duke stood firmly right in the middle of the alley’s entrance, Chloe could never escape.
His intention was clear.
He’d been waiting for her.
More precisely, it looked more like he’d come to catch her.
But why?
A wave of anxiety swept through her whole body.
Why was he standing there so frighteningly, like someone hunting down a fugitive?
“Duke….”
A feeble sound, like that of a mosquito starved for days, escaped her throat.
“Klein Reeden.”
The duke spoke only her name.
It felt as if the next words would be, “Come here at once.”
Was this how a cow felt being led to the slaughterhouse?
Reluctantly, step by step, Chloe approached him.
“Duke, what brings you all the way to the Information Guild alley…?”
“Well, since it’s the Information Guild alley, I must have come to make a request. Why don’t you tell me what that request is?”

The duke’s voice cut through her words, sharp and icy cold.
His chilling aura made her lips freeze together, and she struggled to open her mouth.
“If it’s about the woman you’re searching for, I’ve just now—”
“A woman? No, no. That’s not it.”
“….”
To Chloe’s barely spoken reply, the duke said “No” three times in a row.
Chloe swallowed hard.
“This time, I’ve come to inquire about a man.”
“A… man?”
Her head spun.
Could he have found out?
She’d thought that as long as she got home now, nothing serious would happen—but was it already too late?
Should she have run away immediately that day, when the duke had first said, “I’ve found the woman I need to look for”?
The duke stared fixedly at Chloe, his gaze piercing.
Unable to meet his eyes, Chloe looked slightly away.
But when he called her “Klein Reeden,” she had no choice but to look back at him.
“I think I need to make a request about a man by the name of Klein Reeden.”
“…!”
As expected—the man the duke spoke of was her.
The woman he was searching for was her, and now the man he wanted to investigate was also her.
“Didn’t you say you had no older sisters? Yet you do have an older sister. Why did you hide that? Will you tell me yourself—or shall I make a request with the Information Guild?”
“…!”
Ah! So it was about the older sister—he’d discovered that?
At least it meant he hadn’t yet realized she was a woman. He’d only caught her lying about her family.
“For now, you’re returning to the ducal mansion.”
Leaving Chloe—whose mind was reeling like a storm—in the alley, the duke abruptly turned, mounted his horse, and rode off without another word.
Should she just run away right now?
The impulse surged within her.
It was utterly foolish and reckless—but before she knew it, her body was already moving in the opposite direction from where the duke had disappeared.

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
