I Accidentally Imprinted On The Wolf Duke (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
A chill ran down her spine in an instant.
She couldn’t understand why the Duke suddenly felt like a dangerous beast.
Could it be because Sir Joyce’s words—”rip to shreds”—had lingered in her mind?
“Then I’ll take my leave now.”
Seeing the Duke approach the sofa, Chloe spoke with a tone implying she’d already done what she needed to and intended to depart.
“No! Sit down and have some tea with me.”
“Yes?”
Why?
There had never been a single time like this before.
Whenever tea was served, he’d either tell her to leave it and go, ask her to bring it closer, or simply say he didn’t need it and to clear it away! He’d never once asked her to drink it with him!
So why was he suddenly insisting she join him?
“I’m perfectly fine, thank you.”
The Duke stared up at Chloe, who stood rooted beside the table like a post.
“Why.”
His flat, toneless question pressed down on her like an invisible weight, pinning her in place.
“How could I possibly sit across from Your Grace and share tea time?”
Chloe asked back, equally flat and without inflection, as if it were obvious why he’d even ask such a thing.
After all, where in the world did servants and masters sit together for tea?
“I see.”
The Duke muttered to himself with a sour expression, and Chloe began to nod in agreement.
But then he added, “It seems you simply don’t want to drink with me,” leaving her no choice but to freeze in place.
Stiff as ice, she carried the teacup waiting on the side table over to the low table in front of the sofa where the Duke was seated.
Since he intended to drink while sitting on the sofa, she had no choice but to stand ready before him.
Clink.
The moment she carefully set the teacup down before him and stood up, the Duke’s low “Hmph…” thundered into her ears like a clap of lightning.
No—it sounded less like a breath and more like a groan.
Instantly, goosebumps rose on the back of Chloe’s neck.
Because that sound felt eerily familiar.
It was exactly the same sound the Duke had made in bed that night.
Has His Grace gone mad?
Why was he suddenly making such suggestive noises?!
The Duke inhaled and exhaled deeply several times, as if short of breath.
Chloe, utterly flustered, shuffled backward step by step.
“Klein!”
“Yes!”
She snapped to attention at the Duke’s sharp call.
“Don’t move!”
“Yes?”
“I told you not to budge from there.”
“…….”
Caught off guard by the Duke’s sudden command, Chloe froze mid-motion, unable to even reply.
“Open the window.”
He told her not to move, yet now ordered her to open the window? What contradictory instructions!
How was she supposed to keep up with his mood swings?
Besides, it was odd how he’d been constantly asking to open windows lately.
Glancing warily at the Duke as he brought the teacup close to his face, Chloe reluctantly shuffled toward the window.
The moment she opened it and turned around, a gust of wind blew in.
“Kl…lein.”
“Yes?”
“I said don’t move.”
Trending
What on earth did he want from her?!
He hadn’t been this difficult to please before—what had gotten into him…?
“Just don’t stand by the window.”
At this point, the Duke seemed utterly unhinged.
“I won’t move anymore from here on.”
Though frustrated, she gave a quiet reply and slowly sidestepped toward the table.
“Is this tea supposed to smell like this? The fragrance today seems…”
He fell silent the moment his eyes met Chloe’s—and then abruptly closed them altogether.
“…….”
An oppressive silence filled the room.
“By the way.”
Just as she was plotting her escape, the Duke broke the silence again.
“Yes…?”
A nameless sense of unease washed over her.
“Do you have any sisters?”
“Yes?”
“Sisters—do you have any?”
“A… No.”
Cold sweat broke out on her skin.
“So you don’t….”
He set the teacup down.
Chloe’s lips felt parched; she lightly moistened her lower lip with her tongue.
“But then why do you smell like this? It’s not the tea’s fragrance—it’s definitely the scent of the woman I shared my bed with…”
“I don’t have any sisters! And I don’t know what scent you’re talking about!”
Her voice trembled slightly, but she had no spare energy left to steady it.
Could he really remember the scent of her body from that night?
Even from this distance?
“Klein, come closer.”
“Yes?”
Chloe shuddered.
He wanted her close to sniff her? Was he some sort of beast?
Besides, if she got that close, he’d surely notice how badly she was trembling.
“I said come here.”
“No! I don’t have any sisters, and I don’t smell like anything!”
Chloe shook her head vigorously.
The Duke she knew was a rational, logical man—
Not someone who’d order a servant closer just to smell them!
“Your Grace, perhaps you’ve been a bit sensitive lately. May I take my leave? I still need to finish packing, and I should also check if they’ve assigned someone new to replace me…”
She wasn’t sure she could even wait until tomorrow. Right now, all she wanted was to flee this manor immediately.
“Sensitive?”
The Duke frowned.
Only then did Chloe realize she’d been impolite.
“Perhaps you’re just tired?”
She hastily corrected herself.
“…I suppose so.”
Surprisingly, the Duke readily accepted her explanation.
“Then may I leave now? Is there anything else you’d like me to do?”
“When will you place the request with the Information Guild?”
“It’s already gotten late… I was planning to submit the request when I leave the manor tomorrow.”
If she’d gone right after his order, she might have made it before the Guild closed—but she’d been too busy with personal errands. Now, the timing was so tight that she’d barely make it before closing if she went straight there.

“Fine. Do that.”
“Then I’ll take my leave.”
The Duke said nothing more.
Chloe quickly slipped out of his room before he could change his mind and stop her.
Her heart pounded unevenly—thump-thump-thump, thump-thump-thump—as if struggling to find its rhythm.
She wanted to scream, “Are you out of your mind?!”—but the truly maddening truth was that she herself was the woman he’d shared his bed with.
Thus, his bizarre claim wasn’t madness at all—it was terrifyingly accurate scent recognition.
Maybe she’d worked up a sweat from all her frantic movements?
Now that she thought about it, she might have sweated that night too, given how vigorously they’d rolled around.
But no matter how she thought about it, she hadn’t sweated enough today—even if she had, they weren’t close enough for him to catch her sweat scent.
Anyway, since she’d already decided not to accept tomorrow’s wages, Chloe resolved to leave the manor at dawn.
[This is the timeline separator]The next morning, Chloe prepared wash water and headed to the Duke’s bedroom.
As usual, she set the basin down outside his door,
knock knock.
She knocked.
“Your Grace,”
She called out—but received no response.
“Your Grace, I’ll come in.”
Since he often didn’t answer, and he was always awake at this hour, Chloe cautiously opened the door and entered.
“Your Grace…”
As she called for him again, Chloe scanned the room. The Duke was nowhere—not in bed, and not anywhere else in the chamber.
Had he already gone to his study?
The Duke’s study was right next to his bedroom.
Though each room had its own entrance from the hallway, they were connected internally.
But even the study, accessed through the connecting passage, was empty.
Well, that worked out perfectly!
At least her last day of service was going smoothly.
She’d been worried he’d start with, “You smell again—what’s going on?” right from morning.
Since she’d already set out the wash water, she could simply leave the manor without seeing him and report directly to the butler.
Of course, she might get scolded for leaving so early in the morning, but since she’d already declared she wouldn’t accept today’s wages, he couldn’t really complain.
Creeeak.
Ugh! Why was the door so loud?!
Chloe, having swiftly grabbed her luggage from her room, was doing her best not to make a sound—just in case the Duke had returned.
Her room, adjacent to the Duke’s study (which itself was next to his bedroom), was tiny. Any noise she made might carry into the study.
Normally, she’d never care about door sounds—but now, every little thing grated on her nerves.
In truth, her room hadn’t originally been meant for servants—it was little more than a storage closet attached to the Duke’s study. Only after Chloe began serving as his personal attendant had they moved in a bed and converted it into a proper room.
After stepping out, she briefly glanced toward the Duke’s room.
Thankfully, there were no signs of movement.
With both hands full of luggage, she looked back at the room she’d just left.
Aside from the furniture provided by the Duke’s household, she’d left nothing behind.
Clean slate!
As she reached to close the door again, she hesitated for just a moment.
Should she leave it open, or set down her bags and properly close it?
It was a trivial dilemma—but in this moment of desperate escape, it felt like a life-altering decision.
She really just wanted to rush straight to the stairs, door be damned.
But she was leaving this house for good.
Yes—end it properly.
She set her bags down and pulled the door shut as silently as possible.
Squeeeeak.

Mocking her efforts, the door screeched again, grating on her nerves.
A sound she’d never noticed before now roared like thunder in her ears.
“Phew…”
She let out a small sigh—but at least the door was closed.
Proudly, she picked up her bags again, straightened her back, and turned around.
“Huh!”
The moment she turned, she gasped sharply.
The Duke stood right before her, arms crossed.
“Your Grace…”
She had no idea when he’d appeared there.
He stood so close that when their eyes met, he immediately stepped back and frowned slightly.
His brow furrowed deep with displeasure, as if she were a plague carrier he needed to avoid.
Again with that look.
“What are you doing?”
The Duke took another step back, his narrowed eyes shifting to the large bags in Chloe’s hands.
“I… uh…”
Chloe stammered, struggling to find words.
She couldn’t exactly say she’d been trying to slip away before running into him.
“So when you said you’d leave today, you meant this early in the morning?”
Chloe, forcing herself not to look away from the Duke’s eyes, unconsciously swallowed hard.
Staying composed in this situation was no easy feat.
“I have a long journey ahead, so I decided to leave early. I also need to stop by the Information Guild.”
Strangely, as he listened to her answer, the Duke’s gaze rested just below her eyes.
Was he looking at her neck?
Chloe oddly felt her neck grow hot under his ambiguous stare.
“Thank you for everything, Your Grace. I was worried I wouldn’t get to say goodbye since you weren’t in your room this morning, but I’m glad I could see you one last time. The wash water is…”
Her mouth seemed to move on its own, chattering away like it had a mind of its own.
“Alright. I get it—stop talking already and leave quickly if you’re going.”
His face twisted even more as he cut her off, as if physically trying to shut her up.
“…!”
Ironically, it was Chloe who froze in place at his words.
His casual, almost dismissive permission—borderline an eviction—made her suddenly feel foolish and hollow for all her earlier panic and efforts to escape unnoticed.
But since he was clearly telling her to go—no, urging her to leave—there was no reason to linger further.
“Yes! Thank you, Your Grace. Please stay well.”
Chloe bowed deeply.
“…….”
The Duke offered no reply.
He simply covered his nose and mouth with one hand.
As if she were some foul-smelling refuse he desperately wanted rid of.
Chloe nearly glared at him for his strange behavior—but luckily managed to maintain a polite expression.
After all, it was possible he really had recognized the scent from that night on her.
And if he had indeed caught the scent of the woman he’d shared his bed with, his reaction was somewhat understandable.
Given his extreme dislike of women, even if he’d lost his mind for one night and rolled around with her in terrifying intimacy, once his senses returned, this was exactly how he’d behave.
If he ever realized she was that very woman, who knew how he’d react?
She absolutely couldn’t risk that danger.
Deliberately ignoring the Duke’s gaze burning into the back of her head, Chloe headed for the stairs.
Once she reached the stairs, she’d finally be out of his sight.
How many steps could it possibly be? Twenty at most?
Don’t look too hurried. Stay calm. Don’t run.
She practically chanted it like a spell as she walked.
Trending
Those twenty steps felt like two hundred—but eventually, she reached the staircase. Not a sound came from the Duke behind her the whole time.
Now, all she needed was to say goodbye to the butler—and it would truly be over.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
