On the seventh day since Chloe had arrived in Vorgen, Carcus came to visit. Unaware that she had already returned to her hometown a week earlier, he had come to her house on the date that matched her original leave schedule.
“You quit your job?”
“Yeah, Mom paid not only my salary but also the penalty fee in full. Even though I’ve already revealed I’m a woman, I don’t plan on going back anytime soon.”

“Well… um… I’m not sure. Anyway, it’s really fortunate that you managed to secure the money.”
Seeing Carcus so obviously change the subject, Chloe instantly realized he knew everything—perhaps even that the Duke was a wolf beastkin.
How did he find out?
The world around her now felt entirely different from the one she’d known before. In the world she remembered, beastkin didn’t exist—but suddenly, it seemed as if everyone had become one.
Her mother had been supporting them by selling the jewels she’d brought when fleeing the Tigrium Kingdom. Once those were all gone, she’d relied on support from her father’s family. She said the money to pay off Chloe’s debt had also come from them.
She’d left home because there were still citizens of the Tigrium Kingdom who supported her legitimate claim. She went personally to confront King Tigrium, formally protesting Klein’s murder and demanding they never interfere in her life again. Of course, during that trip, she’d also collected the necessary funds from her father’s family.
Her nephew, King Tuscan Starkston of Tigrium, wary of public opinion, couldn’t bring himself to kill his aunt and instead kept her hidden. This time, he’d pretended to readily accept her warning.
Of course, her real reason for visiting Tuscan was to protect Chloe. By openly displaying fury over the murder of her only son, she concealed the true existence of Chloe, the real beastkin.
Her plan worked well. The King of Tigrium, believing her beastkin child was already dead, figured he could afford to offer a mere apology.
When male lead is the homewrecker

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!
The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

There’s no time for this! The Duke is suffering while you chat with these old people!
It’s about time someone started explaining things to her since her own mother, Carcus, and even Hughgray haven’t told her ANYTHING.
If Chloe’s mom knows about the whole rutting and dying thing (and I’m sure she does) then she basically told Chloe to let the Duke Die when she told her not to go back to him. I hope Chloe realizes that and gets angry at her mom.
