How to Divorce a Obsessive Emperor Safely (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 14
Pffft!
The culprit was a school of fish.
As if reading Lasilia’s mind, a swarm of fish from the canal swiftly swam over and dove beneath the tiny boat.
It was precisely the moment Rian was about to leap upward, pushing off with her feet. The fish lifted the opposite side of the boat, instantly capsizing it.
“Kaaak!”
Fortunately, the black bird safely flew away.
The humans, however, were not so lucky.
Splash!
‘Ah… I don’t know how to swim.’
The moment she felt her body tilting, she was already underwater. It was as if she’d been sucked in, sinking deep beneath the surface.
“Cartagena!”
“Oh! Your Majesty!”
She heard a name that wasn’t her own. Instinctively, Lasilia thrashed her limbs.
Her breath was cut off; the water pressed down on her entire body like unbearable weight. Though unbound, she felt tightly bound. She needed to struggle more—but her eyes closed.
“Cartagena!”
Just as she no longer felt the sensation of suffocation, someone snatched her body from the water.
[This is the timeline separator]This time, it was a completely different dream.
—This.
His golden eyes were dazzling. At first, she thought he was the Emperor.
But he was slightly different. Though his face resembled the Emperor’s, his ear tips were pointed. Right in the center of his forehead was a fresh, unhealed wound that looked terribly painful.
—It’s a gift.
—A gift?
What the man—who looked like the Emperor—handed her was a red stone smaller than an egg.
Even his fingernails, which held out the stone, were as red as the stone itself. Around those nails, which looked as hard as steel, translucent scales had sprouted.
That’s how she knew he wasn’t human.
—I need something to protect you when I’m not around.
She instinctively reached out and took the stone. It was warm. And she could feel a tiny heartbeat within it.
—It’s an egg.
Not a stone—an egg.
—What will hatch from inside this?
—It will take the form you love most.
Those golden eyes, which at first had seemed dazzling yet cold and emotionless like the Emperor’s, were now slightly different.
They were tender and gentle—almost affectionate.
—I carved this from a piece of my own heart. As long as you exist, once it hatches, it will never die. It will protect you forever.
That gentleness pained her heart.
—That’s kind of sad.
She placed her hand on her chest, searching for the heart he’d cut out for her.
He wasn’t human, so his heart might be in a different place—but it didn’t matter. It would be there anyway.
—You must have been in pain. It makes me sad that you hurt yourself for my sake.
—Pain is fine.
He placed his hand over hers, which rested on her chest.
—If pain is the price I must pay to stay by your side, I can bear it endlessly.
So she thought:
If you can’t avoid pain, I’d rather share it with you.
[This is the timeline separator]“…Cough, urk!”
After violently spitting out water, she could finally breathe again.
“You’re alive!”
A large hand cradled the back of her head. His weight pressed down on her body. Just when she’d regained her breath, she was suffocating again.

“Your Majesty, you’ll truly kill her at this rate. Please, gently.”
“……”
Thankfully, after hearing Rian’s voice, the pressure on her body loosened slightly.
“Haa…”
Lasilia exhaled deeply.
“So… I fell into the water.”
“Yes, Your Imperial Majesty. Fortunately, His Majesty pulled you out.”
Not only was she completely soaked—so were the Emperor and his shadow knight.
The Emperor, drenched head to toe, still wore his full, ornate ceremonial attire, which looked unbearably heavy just to behold. His face, pale and wet, seemed especially cold, likely from lowered body temperature.
“Your Majesty saved me. Thank you.”
“……”
The Emperor stared at her without moving, his lips tightly pressed together.
She hadn’t seen this expression on him for the first time.
But this time, for some reason, her chest fluttered slightly.
‘Strange. He looks just like him.’
The golden eyes from her dream surfaced in her mind.
Somehow sorrowful, somehow tender.
And somehow, her own heart ached.
‘But that wasn’t the Emperor.’
Then who on earth was he?
Why had the prophetess dreamed such a dream?
It didn’t feel at all like her usual prophecies. It felt less like a vision of the future and more like a memory from a very distant past.
“Huff… huff… Y-Your Imperial Majesty actually fell into the water… huff…”
People had gathered without her noticing. They were the royal guards and attendants who’d accompanied her as far as the garden entrance—among them was even a court physician, dragged along with his wrist twisted in a guard’s grip.
The poor physician, who’d sprinted desperately to keep up with the guards’ pace, had turned deathly pale. Now, for another reason entirely, his expression changed again as he panted and muttered,
“No, the one who always insisted she absolutely hated boats—how could she end up in the water…? Ah, regardless, we must move her inside quickly. We must warm her body right away…”
Before he could finish speaking, the Emperor abruptly scooped her up into his arms.
“Your Majesty!”
As her body lifted, her waterlogged clothes dripped streams of water.
“Make way.”
The Emperor spoke in a low voice.
At that quiet, low command, the surrounding royal guards instantly split apart like a curtain.
“I can walk, Your Majesty.”
Lasilia placed her hand against Reskal’s chest, which brushed her cheek, and tried to push him away. Of course, he didn’t budge.
“This time, make an exception.”
“…? An exception?”
“No memory, unfamiliar, and thus unpleasant to touch—let’s treat this as an exception.”
“How can that be? My memories haven’t suddenly returned.”
“I nearly lost you just now.”
Those words silenced Lasilia.
Somehow sorrowful, somehow tender.
“……”
When she looked up, she saw the Emperor’s jaw muscles tensing as if he were gritting his teeth.
“The moment I thought I might lose you, everything else vanished from my mind. Nothing else mattered—only that you’re alive, right here in my arms.”
“……”
“So for now, let it be an exception. I can’t think of anything else anyway.”
“……”
While Lasilia remained speechless, the strength she’d used to push Reskal away gradually faded.
Squelch. Squelch.
Only the muffled, soggy footsteps echoed all the way to the Empress’s quarters.

The walk to the Empress’s quarters felt unbearably long.
It was no wonder—being held by the Emperor, she couldn’t even breathe properly. With every step, she felt her body sway, and his breath, far too close, along with his body heat directly against her skin, made her flustered beyond measure.
By the time they reached the Empress’s quarters, she felt utterly drained.
Moreover, appearing in the Emperor’s arms drew shocked, uneasy stares—adding to her discomfort.
It seemed the palace staff in the Empress’s quarters would have plenty to gawk at until the next Blue Moon passed.
“Please put me down now. I’ll go to the bath.”
As the bedroom door opened, Lasilia said tiredly.
“You look exhausted. Wouldn’t it be better to lie down?”
“I want to dry off first.”
“Can’t you dry off while lying down?”
“Then we’d have to discard the bed.”
“What does it matter? You’re tired.”
“……”
Lasilia stared blankly at the Emperor, who suggested discarding a bed so casually just because she was tired.
‘The imperial family must be incredibly wealthy.’
Delarta had no nobles like this.
If such a madman had existed, the gods would’ve shown her through prophecy long ago. That noble would’ve been punished in the Prophetess’s name for dreaming of such outrageous waste.
“I dislike that. Please put me down.”
“Why do you dislike it?”
“Because I do.”
“Is the current bed that good?”
Impossible.
“…Yes. It seems so—even if I can’t remember.”
The Emperor rubbed his chin thoughtfully, then said,
“Then I’ll wash your body in the bath. That way, we won’t need to discard the bed, and I won’t have to leave your side. That sounds good.”
Good? How is that good?
She stared at the Emperor, wondering if he was serious—and saw that he was utterly sincere.
He really meant it.
“No.”
“Why not this time?”
Did he really need her to spell it out…? It seemed people grew a little—no, quite a lot—strange during the Blue Moon.
“There’s no reason for it. That’s the servants’ duty.”
“Hmm… Can’t this be an exception too?”
What on earth was he saying?
“No.”
“……”
The Emperor’s lips twitched, and he finally set Lasilia down.
But he didn’t just quietly let her go.
“Don’t overexert yourself for too long. I’ll wait here until you come out.”
“…? Your Majesty should change your clothes as well. You’re soaked.”
“I’m sturdy. It’s fine.”
It couldn’t possibly be fine.
“The carpet will get wet.”
“What does it matter if it—”
“The carpet in my bedroom is too precious. I don’t want it replaced.”
“……”
“Please go change, then.”
Thud.
Afraid the Emperor might say something absurd again and interfere, Lasilia quickly slipped into the bathroom.

“Phew…”
Leaning against the closed door, she finally breathed easily.
“It’s gotten worse.”
Even someone as oblivious as her could tell the Emperor kept growing stranger. It had started when he began insisting they sit together, even lying about how close they used to be.
“He said it would be today.”
The black bird had told her—the moon would rise tonight.
“So I just need to hold on for one more day. The problem is, there’s still plenty of time before the moon sets.”
He was already talking nonsense about following her into the bathroom—would he really be alright?
“There’s no choice. For now, I’ll have to trust the oath.”
More urgently, she needed to figure out how to remove these soaked clothes.
She couldn’t ask the palace staff for help. Now that they knew about her mark, she couldn’t afford more witnesses. She had to undress alone, somehow.
“Your Imperial Majesty.”
But the Empress had clearly faced this situation before.
From changing clothes to bathing, someone who always received assistance could never have hidden the secret marked on her body every single time.
Thus, she’d chosen Marchioness Pashad.
“…? What’s going on?”
“I anticipated you’d use the bath and prepared in advance. This way.”
From the Marchioness’s familiar demeanor, Lasilia guessed she and the Empress shared a secret.
“You needn’t be so guarded. There’s no one else.”
“…Then.”
If the Marchioness already knew about the mark, trying to hide it was pointless.
Lasilia obediently followed the Marchioness’s lead and stood before the bathtub.
With practiced hands, the Marchioness began unfastening the tightly spaced pearl buttons on her back.
Just as the weight of the wet clothes began to lessen, the Marchioness leaned close and whispered discreetly into her ear,
“This must be quite awkward for you, Your Majesty—His Majesty emerging like that. Even during the Blue Moon, to go so far as changing quarters just to keep watch…”
“…?”
“But worry not, Your Imperial Majesty. As I always have, I’ll protect you well. When it comes to silencing tongues, no one in this palace rivals me.”
Silencing tongues…
Was she referring to the servants who’d quietly vanished from the Empress’s quarters?
“You needn’t worry about anything, Your Majesty. Just as before.”
The Marchioness repeated “as before.” What she truly meant was that very phrase: “as before.”
“That’s a relief, then.”
When Lasilia replied slowly, Marchioness Pashad’s voice grew even more discreet.
“Then, Your Imperial Majesty, regarding the matter of Count Aiyeof’s inheritance you promised before—when might it be resolved?”
“…?”
The Marchioness’s presence wasn’t a method the Empress used to hide her secret.
Quite the opposite—Marchioness Pashad was exploiting the Empress’s secret.

Servant: I heard that mermen have no human nature.
Jiang Yang looks at the merman with wet puppy eyes, obsessively calling her ‘A Yang’ like a childish infant: “You call this having no human nature?”
With great difficulty, she releases the merman back into the sea and returns to shore.
Who would have thought that in less than half a month, the merman, who should have been freely wandering in the South China Sea, would shed his scales, endure the pain of losing his tail, transform into human legs, and come ashore to find her?
He kneels at her feet, rubbing her palm, with merman tears rolling down: “A Yang, don’t abandon me.”

Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 15Reskal is so sweet. I love how he gets over Lasilia and how he even rushes for her. But even though it’s so obvious that everyone notices it, Lasilia is such an idiot that she will never suspect the Emperor is in love with her.
Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 16Ugh, I seriously can’t stand Lasilia. She is a total pain. Reskal is such a sunshine, I still love how dedicated he is to her, but she doesn’t even make an effort to pretend, and this is coming from someone who claims she doesn’t want to raise suspicions. She is so stiff, ugh.
Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 17I really dislike how stubborn Lasilia is and how she refuses to even try to make things work. She is so close-minded, so wrapped up in her own head, and honestly, her not even trying to live her life as the empress drives me crazy—especially when Reskal has been nothing but good to her.
Poor Reskal. It completely broke my heart that even after transforming, he still went to look for her to find comfort.

Rahzel Everlasting
Oh, Reskal is just an absolute sweetheart. The fact that he gets so protective because she fell into the water… I adore him! Though Lasilia still annoys the hell out of me. Girl, wake up! That man truly loves you.
