How to Divorce a Obsessive Emperor Safely (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 15
…Thud.
Her soaked outer garment dropped to the floor at her feet. Feeling considerably lighter, Lasilia turned to face Marchioness Pashad.
“What do you mean by that? A promise?”
The marchioness swallowed hard, clearly tense.
“Didn’t Your Majesty promise me? That the inheritance of Count Ayef would go not to the count’s daughter, but to my second son.”
It seemed the House of Count Ayef had no sons.
But that didn’t matter anyway.
“So you’re saying that in exchange for tending to my clothes, I promised to steal another house’s inheritance for you? Is that what I’m understanding correctly?”
“It’s hardly ordinary dressing service, is it, Your Imperial Majesty? All this time, I’ve been keeping my lips sealed, and I’ve suffered so much…!”
Lasilia cut off the marchioness mid-sentence.
“I don’t know what you’ve been doing or how. As you well know, I remember nothing of the past.”
“…Th-that… Surely, Your Imperial Majesty needn’t treat even me this way.”
The marchioness clearly believed the amnesia was feigned.
“What do you mean by that? That I shouldn’t treat you this way? Amnesia isn’t something one can choose based on the person.”
“…”
The marchioness twisted her lips, then clasped her hands tightly together.
“You… cannot treat me this way, Your Imperial Majesty. If you knew what I’ve been protecting for you, you couldn’t possibly…”
“Hmm. I don’t understand that either. What exactly have you been protecting for me?”
“You know very well. How the mark is progressing.”
Just as she’d suspected. The marchioness was holding the empress’s secret like a knife, using it to extort her. Perhaps the empress herself had handed her that knife in the first place—but that didn’t matter. Now that she held it, the marchioness could swing it whenever she pleased.
“A mark?”
But that didn’t mean she had to stand still and take the blade.
“…Yes?”
“What mark?”
Marchioness Pashad frowned, looking skeptical and displeased.
“You can’t possibly… be pretending not to know about the mark as well.”
“I remember nothing at all. So tell me plainly—how is the mark progressing, what does it mean, and what will you do with that knowledge if I refuse to take the Ayef inheritance for you?”
“Th-then… are you saying it’s fine if it becomes known?”
“As I said, I don’t even know what ‘it’ is. If you’ve been hiding it for me all this time, I suppose it must be something that shouldn’t be revealed.”
“Of-of course! If His Imperial Majesty were to find out…!”
“And then? What would happen?”
“Wh-what? Why, the House of Pielion would surely…”
“And the House of Pashad? You’ve kept this secret together with me—does that mean your house is safe?”
“Th…at…?”
There was one thing Marchioness Pashad didn’t know.
There was no one more immune to threats than a prophet. If the threat relied on exposure, it held no power over a prophet—whose very duty was to reveal.
“If you’re certain the House of Pashad will remain unharmed while the House of Pielion suffers, then go ahead and inform His Majesty. As someone who remembers nothing, I have nothing more to say.”
“Ah…”
The marchioness let out a strange whimper and bit her lip hard.
Until now, she must have extracted all sorts of favors from the empress under the guise of loyalty. If the empress now refused further payment, citing amnesia, and the marchioness threatened to expose the secret, the only outcome left would be mutual destruction. Lasilia had made it clear she would never die alone.
Thus, the positions of blackmailer and blackmailed had reversed.
“If that’s all you had to say, please finish undressing me. I wish to bathe no longer.”
“…… ……Yes, Your Imperial Majesty.”
Pale as someone who’d tumbled alone through a snowfield, the marchioness began removing the underdress.
Thud, plop…
Her trembling fingertips started unfastening the buttons.
“A bit faster.”
Lasilia urged the marchioness.
“Oh—ah! …Yes, yes, Your Imperial Majesty…”
For some reason, the marchioness grew even more flustered.
Trending
“There’s no need to be so frightened. Just do your duty as you always have, and I’ll treat you as I always have. If your hands shake too much, take a moment to steady them.”
“Th… Ah, I understand.”
Her violently trembling hands paused briefly, then began moving again, now steady as if regaining composure.
Thus, Lasilia remained unaware.
She didn’t know there was another reason her hands shook.
She didn’t know that once all the buttons of the underdress were undone, the mark—more than half faded just above her tailbone—had vividly reappeared.
[This is the timeline separator]“Please dress, Your Majesty.”
Reskal finished his bath in five minutes—merely dipping his soaped body once into the steaming hot water.
Today, he didn’t even stop Serben from drying him off.
Reskal, who disliked physical contact with others, usually handled such matters himself.
Anyway, once Serben had thoroughly dried him, he began dressing Reskal in fresh clothes.
As Reskal silently pushed his arms into his shirt and buttoned it up, he asked,
“Where’s Rian?”
“As far as I know, she’s planning some bird hunting.”
“Bird hunting is permitted. Take her sword away.”
“…What?”
Taken aback, Serben looked bewildered.
“She must bear responsibility for the empress falling into the water. One month.”
“A whole month?”
If Rian couldn’t carry her sword for a month, she’d surely turn into a frustrated, raving beast.
“Could you perhaps reduce it slightly, Your Majesty?”
Serben asked cautiously, but the reply was sharp as a blade.
“No.”
“…She’ll suffer terribly and reflect deeply, then. Understood.”
It was obvious that during Rian’s month of suffering, he’d become her scapegoat.
Serben was already steeling himself against the coming misery as he finished dressing Reskal.
Thud!
“Your Majesty?”
“…”
Reskal suddenly sank to the floor. Thanks to the shoe stool, he avoided a hard fall on his backside—but it was certainly odd behavior.
“What’s wrong? Did you hurt yourself somewhere?”
Serben rushed over and grabbed Reskal’s ankle.
“No. I’m not injured…”
There was no injury. Just moments ago, Reskal had been moving perfectly fine. And with his acute senses, he wouldn’t have missed any wound.
Yet both fell silent, seeing Reskal’s hands trembling visibly.
“Why is this happening?”
Reskal stared at his hands, which wouldn’t stop shaking no matter how hard he tried to steady them.
“Well… um… perhaps the shock from seeing Her Imperial Majesty fall into the water is only now catching up to you.”
It was common for knights, who lived by the sword, to experience delayed shock after severe trauma—like losing a limb.
“Shock… I see.”
“Yes. You must have been greatly startled.”
At those words, Reskal briefly recalled the incident by the canal.
The sound of the empress splashing into the water echoed in his ears, and cold sweat began to bead on his brow. His stomach churned.
“Nothing must ever happen to the empress again.”
Reskal clenched his trembling fist and muttered lowly,
“I might lose control of myself.”
“Well… if it’s that serious, then… no, it truly mustn’t happen.”
Reskal abruptly lifted his head.
“From now on, you’ll guard the empress.”

“Me?”
Serben pointed at himself, astonished.
“Are you referring to me?”
“Rian can’t wield her sword for a month.”
“But I… I’m your shadow knight, Your Majesty!”
He meant: Don’t you well know I’ve been leading your personal guard since before the ink on my knighthood decree even dried?
“Exactly.”
“No, Your Majesty… The emperor and empress are different, so their guards should be different as well…”
“They’re the same. Starting today.”
Serben strained not to let his face fall into a grimace.
“No, they’re not. Her Imperial Majesty is your consort and a member of the imperial family, but she doesn’t carry the imperial bloodline.”
“They’re the same.”
Reskal was resolute—no other answer would suffice.
“When the empress fell into the water, it felt as if my heart shattered. If she dies, I die too. So they’re the same.”
“A-ah, but… so suddenly like this…”
“Protect her. Ensure nothing happens.”
“Th… then, as you wish.”
Overwhelmed by the emperor’s commanding presence, Serben simply nodded.
Truthfully, appointing a guard now seemed pointless—Reskal had already decided to stay by the empress’s side twenty-four hours a day. But something else weighed more heavily on his mind.
It seemed the empress truly was his destined consort.
‘Rian won’t like this at all.’
Serben muttered inwardly.
‘Nor will I, for that matter. Given Her Imperial Majesty’s character…’
With that temperament, it was painfully clear how much worse she’d behave once she realized the emperor was serious.
Even now, the empress lived as she pleased, wreaking havoc through the palace. Extravagance was routine. She’d freely summoned her premarital lover into the imperial palace, eliminated countless lowborn palace servants without hesitation, and frequently buried nobles who displeased her.
She’d acted this way even when the emperor showed her not a shred of affection. Now that he cherished her as his own life…
‘It’s obvious what’ll happen.’
“Horrible” didn’t even begin to describe it.
Serben gritted his teeth and soothed his troubled mind.
‘I must prevent that from happening at all costs. Perhaps becoming the empress’s guard is actually fortunate.’
He had to ensure the empress never learned of the emperor’s true feelings.
But then his vision clouded again.
‘If he acts like that, even a fool would notice… This is truly a mess.’
Anyway, he’d have to play his cards carefully.
For starters, he absolutely wouldn’t reveal useful tidbits—like the empress’s fondness for Gadenia flowers.
[This is the timeline separator]Thud!
He arrived quickly.
She was growing accustomed to the emperor’s sudden appearances.
“You’ve come, Your Majesty.”
At least he’d arrived after she’d finished dressing.
The emperor swept back his golden hair with a strangely anxious expression.
“I hadn’t intended to take so long. I finished bathing quickly, yet…”
It sounded as if something else had delayed him after his bath.
Actually, it hadn’t taken long at all—he’d been unusually fast.
“I know the distance to the imperial palace is considerable. You’re not late in the slightest.”
His anxious expression brightened faintly.
“In that case.”
The emperor sat down beside her with perfect naturalness.
The problem was, Lasilia had deliberately chosen a single-seat sofa to avoid exactly this—yet the emperor perched himself on the armrest anyway.

Their bodies pressed snugly together. His golden eyes, gazing down at her, were strikingly vivid. The more she looked, the more she found herself adjusting to their brilliance—she could almost read his expression now.
The emperor gently took the tip of Lasilia’s hair and kissed it.
“My delay was because I was shocked—on your account.”
“I see.”
Though that hardly warranted a kiss.
“So I suppose I’ll need to keep making exceptions until the shock wears off.”
…What on earth is he talking about?

Male lead is a Divorced Husband
She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.
After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.
She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.
But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…
Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!

This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!
The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.
That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”
Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”
The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”
That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”
Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”
The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.
Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.
“She was originally a ‘she’!”
At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.
The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”

Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 16Ugh, I seriously can’t stand Lasilia. She is a total pain. Reskal is such a sunshine, I still love how dedicated he is to her, but she doesn’t even make an effort to pretend, and this is coming from someone who claims she doesn’t want to raise suspicions. She is so stiff, ugh.
Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 17I really dislike how stubborn Lasilia is and how she refuses to even try to make things work. She is so close-minded, so wrapped up in her own head, and honestly, her not even trying to live her life as the empress drives me crazy—especially when Reskal has been nothing but good to her.
Poor Reskal. It completely broke my heart that even after transforming, he still went to look for her to find comfort.
Rahzel Everlasting Chapter 18Ugh, it pisses me off that Lasilia uses her amnesia for those kinds of things. I mean, she could at least try!
Reskal is still such a sunshine, I love that he wants to be all over her at all times. I love him.

Rahzel Everlasting
Reskal is so sweet. I love how he gets over Lasilia and how he even rushes for her. But even though it’s so obvious that everyone notices it, Lasilia is such an idiot that she will never suspect the Emperor is in love with her.
