The girl who had run over panted as she spoke.

“Huff… huff… I heard that one of the girls who went to that party with me… huff… got married to Ki Dae Cheol’s friend… huff… and moved to Korea. Huff…”

“Do you happen to know that friend’s name?”

“Joo Mi. Park Joo Mi. She was an international student—her father was a high-ranking official in the South Korean government. When her parents found out she’d attended that party, they were so ashamed they forced her into marriage with the man she’d been paired with at the event.”

“Do you happen to know the man’s name?”

“I don’t know that.”

“Thank you. This has been a great help.”

Dae Woon wished her happiness and started the car.

Though he still had several more hours of driving ahead, it no longer felt difficult to him. He changed his original plan—sending Yang Gi Tae—and now felt glad he’d come to the U.S. himself.

As he drove, Dae Woon thought of his father.

His mind raced as he gripped the wheel—deciding it was time to wrap things up in the U.S. and head back to Korea soon.

He needed to prepare in earnest to confront Ki Heung Sik. Dae Woon laid out the order of tasks he needed to accomplish.

First was formalizing his relationship with Ga Eul—both to thwart Chairman Ki’s schemes and to ease the growing urgency he felt toward her. That came first, above all.

Whether through marriage, engagement, or a public announcement in the press—he would officially declare Ga Eul as his woman the moment he returned, preventing Chairman Ki from ever pushing Kang Se Ra between them.
