Chairman Oh, having brought Ga Eul and Dae Woon down with him, seated the two in his car. The car’s interior was spacious, and the rear seats were configured so four people could sit facing each other.

Chairman Oh dismissed the chauffeur, telling him to go ahead and have his dinner. Then, with heavy solemnity, Chairman Oh began to speak.

“Chairman Ki of Shinhwa called me. He said he cannot possibly approve your marriage to CEO Ki.”

“That isn’t something Chairman Ki gets to approve or disapprove. I’ll handle my own marriage.”

Dae Woon’s reply was brief. Yet upon hearing those words, Chairman Oh still wore a deeply conflicted expression—he understood all too well how difficult it would be.

Having once played the role of disapproving parent himself, he might even have heard the same words before—from his own mother.

“I know CEO Ki holds you dear, Ga Eul. But matters in this world aren’t always so straightforward.”

“What did Chairman Oh tell him?”

Ga Eul asked coolly, curious about Chairman Oh’s true intentions. If he defied Chairman Ki’s wishes and pushed forward with his granddaughter’s marriage to Dae Woon, it was certain to damage Chairman Oh’s business interests. Would he support her marriage despite risking such repercussions?

Ga Eul was eager to see what choice he would make in that moment.

“I told him, for now, let’s simply watch over the young ones—we should trust they’ll make wise decisions.”

That was a relief. At least he hadn’t sided outright with Chairman Ki—assuming Chairman Oh had told the truth.

“What reason did he give for opposing it?”

This time, Chairman Oh seemed uneasy answering Ga Eul’s question and glanced briefly at Dae Woon.
