It was the languid, predatory gaze of a beast ready to swallow everything whole at any moment.

Though not overtly aggressive, given the circumstances, Seon Woo’s direct, piercing stare alone was threatening enough for Eun Jae.

As Seon Woo drew close enough to share breath, Eun Jae suddenly snapped to her senses and pushed his chest away, stepping back one pace.

“W-Wait a moment!”

Despite Eun Jae’s efforts, Seon Woo quickly closed the distance again. Tilting his head slightly, one corner of his mouth lifted sharply.

“Huh? Weren’t you the one who prepared for this?”

Her face flushed crimson, her hands visibly trembling even to the naked eye.

Seon Woo nearly burst into laughter at the sight of Eun Jae like this, but managed to hold it in.

He knew he shouldn’t—but he *liked* seeing Eun Jae flustered. Her wide, startled eyes were endearing, and her intense reactions were endlessly entertaining.

Each time he considered stopping, lingering reluctance kept pulling him back.

“I-It’s a misunderstanding.”

Face red all the way to her ears, Eun Jae shook her hands vigorously in denial.

These thoughts surely hadn’t sprung up overnight. He could somewhat understand, even empathize, with her defensive behavior—after all, a buildup of misconceptions would naturally lead to this.

Yet, something about her innocent, wide-eyed gaze, as if looking up at him like he were some despicable villain, stirred an odd sense of injustice in him—no matter how he thought it over, he just felt unfairly judged.

It wasn’t as if *I* told her to repay my kindness with marriage.
