When I Let Go of Obsession, I Got Obsessed (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 2
A medieval European-style romance novel titled “The Flower of Luzencia.”
That was the name of the book containing the story of the world into which Liz had transmigrated.
The plot seemed to be the usual cliché: Lilith, a mistreated illegitimate daughter, overcomes adversity and becomes the mistress of the empire. It was such an overused Cinderella story that Liz hadn’t even bothered to read it properly. Of course, if it hadn’t been her own story, she wouldn’t have cared at all.
The problem was that Lilith, the female lead of this tale, was Liz’s half-sister.
Liz had despised Lilith—the daughter her father had brought home after an affair—and had tormented her relentlessly. Upon learning that Cain, the handsome slave she’d secretly admired, favored Lilith, her cruelty intensified even further. And finally….
That slave Cain was actually the male protagonist—the long-missing Crown Prince—who would one day become emperor.
A season later, blinded by jealousy, Liz tried to push Lilith off a cliff but ended up being killed by Cain instead.
Ah… So that’s how I die. Liz was utterly dismayed.
Why must she meet such a fate? Without even having married once?
It had been the same in her previous life.
Liz had wanted to get married.
In her past life, she’d fallen for a man who kept multiple women on the side and endured four years of emotional torment. Just when she’d nearly forgotten him, he’d contact her again; just when she’d resolved to move on, he’d show up and shatter her composure. Because of him, she’d never been able to date anyone else.
“You’re the only one for me. You’re the person I feel most at ease with.”
He’d spoken as if she were his sole sanctuary, yet he’d married a woman who grew flustered and restless merely at the thought of marriage.
That was when she realized:
Perhaps a spouse didn’t have to be one’s sanctuary after all….
That day, heartbroken, she’d drunk heavily and, failing to notice an oncoming truck while crossing the street, left the world behind.
Having grown up orphaned and living as a dependent in relatives’ homes, she now found that life surprisingly grateful—because if she’d left someone grieving behind, she’d have felt terribly regretful.
Anyway, now that she knew, she wouldn’t let herself die so pointlessly.
Liz made up her mind.
She would change.
“Cain….”
She briefly hesitated whether to add “-nim” or not, but worried it might hint that she suspected his true identity, so she decided to address him as usual.
“Your orders, Miss?”
Cain replied with a smile in his eyes—a habitually charming eye-smile that had once made her swoon, regardless of his true feelings.
“From now on, attend to Lilith. Not me.”
But not anymore.
Cain had worked at Marquis Berium’s estate for ten years; Lilith had lived there for one. With so little overlap, their relationship remained merely that of a nobleman’s second daughter and a slave.
For the main romance to truly begin, the villain’s torment was essential—but this villain no longer wished to play that role.
Thus, she had no choice but to find another way.
Liz intended to fulfill her villainous duty by matchmaking the two.
After all, love could only blossom if they spent time together—and only then would he take her with him when he returned to the imperial palace.
Though it was slightly earlier than in the original story, it didn’t seem like a major issue.
Since they were destined to fall in love anyway, it might even be better if it happened sooner.
She assumed Cain would surely be pleased—after all, he’d finally escape his tiresome mistress. Yet,
“Miss, please have your meal.”
The next day, seeing Cain arrive as usual with breakfast and his ever-cheerful smile, Liz was utterly dumbfounded.
“W-why are you here?”
“Why am I here?”
He set the food on the bedside table, speaking as if bewildered by her question.
“I came to serve you breakfast, Miss.”
“I told you to attend to Lilith.”
“Were you serious about that?”
Serious…?
“I thought you were just saying that. People sometimes talk like that after a bad injury.”
Only then did Liz understand.
Cain believed she’d merely blurted something out while mentally unstable after the accident.
“No, I meant it. I’m perfectly fine.”
“You don’t seem fine.”
Cain glanced down at her legs and continued.
Trending
“Your legs still don’t move well, do they?”
Now that he mentioned it….
Liz looked down at her legs, which hadn’t fully recovered yet.
The accident had jarred her spine, causing temporary paralysis. Thankfully, sensation had returned quickly, but her legs still lacked strength.
The physician said full recovery would take a few more weeks.
She could manage rooms and hallways with a wheelchair, but stairs were a problem—impossible to navigate without help.
Cain was the only strong servant in the house; who else could she ask?
Mirabel wasn’t really an option.
Ugh. Never mind. She’d just stay upstairs.
She didn’t particularly enjoy going out anyway. If she needed anything, she could send a maid to fetch it.
Most importantly, she must avoid further entanglement with the Crown Prince—the very man destined to kill her.
“I’ll just live with the inconvenience. So….”
“……”
“Go to Lilith for real now. I’ve already told her you’ll be her personal attendant.”
In an instant—
The ever-present smile on Cain’s face faded slightly.
Through that fleeting crack, Liz glimpsed it: the cold, rigid, sometimes even ruthless demeanor of the original story’s male lead.
“So it really is true, just as I suspected.”
Until now, it had been a vague notion—but in this moment, she finally grasped it clearly.
Cain was the male lead; she was Liz Berium, the villainous supporting character fated to die by his hand for trying to harm the heroine. Their relationship was precisely that—and nothing more. If she didn’t remove this man from her path now, fate would surely unfold exactly as in the original.
“Why suddenly…?”
Cain began to speak, but the door burst open.
“Miss, take your medicine.”
It was Mirabel.
Liz let out a sigh of relief.
Mirabel entered carrying a small tray with medicine and candy. As she handed Liz the bottle of bitter green liquid—an unpleasant sight even before tasting—Cain rose from his seat.
“I’ll come back later, then.”
He gave a light bow and turned to leave, but Liz was too busy gulping down the medicine to pay attention.
The moment the medicine touched her tongue, its bitter, astringent taste made her frown deeply. Mirabel quickly popped a candy into her mouth to soothe her.
Once the candy had eased the bitterness, Liz spoke.
“Call Mother for me.”
“Madam? She said not to disturb her unless it’s urgent—she’s getting a massage.”
“Tell her it’s urgent.”
“…?”
“I’m going to attend a matchmaking meeting.”
Mirabel’s eyes widened in shock.
And at that exact moment—
Cain’s hand, reaching for the doorknob, froze midair.
“Ma… matchmaking, did you say?”
“Yes.”
Her mother struggled to find words.
Understandable, really—ever since falling for Cain, Liz had rejected every marriage proposal that came her way.
And though her affection for Cain was part of it, Cain himself had also raised her standards too high. With a man handsomer than most noble sons constantly before her eyes, how could anyone else catch her attention?
“Why suddenly?”
Her mother asked again, and Liz answered without hesitation.
“I just felt like it.”
“Then we’ll do it.”
Afraid her daughter might change her mind, her mother didn’t ask further and immediately set things in motion. After all, Liz was already twenty—considered slightly past the usual marrying age in this world, where most wed in their late teens.
Having an unmarried daughter of marriageable age was damaging to her social standing—it made her appear incompetent.
Her mother promptly retrieved the stored proposals from her drawer, sorted through them, and sent the butler to make arrangements.

Hearing every detail of the process from Mirabel, Liz smiled contentedly.
“It’s going well.”
“Madam asks if you have any preferences.”
“Tell her I have none.”
“But having absolutely none isn’t good—it makes you seem cheap.”
Mirabel offered the advice out of concern that Liz might be undervaluing herself because of the scar prominently marked on her forehead.
Unaware of Mirabel’s worries, Liz replied carelessly.
“So what if I seem a little cheap? Being too aloof isn’t attractive either.”
She’d rejected too many suitors before; seeming slightly eager wouldn’t hurt. Besides, she wasn’t in a position to be picky now.
Just living under the same roof as the angel of death made her feel suffocated. She wanted to escape as soon as possible.
The next day, her mother came personally to inform her of the first appointment.
“I’ve contacted Sir Fabrice, the eldest son of Count Rubent. You’ll meet tomorrow at noon in our reception room.”
“Fabrice Rubent….”
Liz quietly repeated the name.
He seemed both familiar and unfamiliar.
Then, suddenly, a memory flashed.
“Oh, that awkward, tongue-tied man.”
Brown hair, black eyes, average height, slender build, and an expression that just looked… kind. Simply kind.
In short, utterly ordinary.
“He’s not bad.”
Not great, either.
“The House of Rubent is a rising power these days, isn’t it? Financially solid, too. And above all, the late countess was renowned for her virtue and moral standing. A son raised under such a mother is surely well-mannered.”
“If children inherit their parents’ traits… then I take after Mother—which isn’t exactly a pleasant thought.”
Liz chuckled inwardly.
While she was lost in thought, her mother gave her instructions to prepare.
“Practice your greetings and etiquette beforehand. And practice walking, too—you can’t enter in a wheelchair, can you?”
“Yes.”
Liz answered without hesitation—she’d already planned to do exactly that.

Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife
I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro
When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.
After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.
Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.
Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.
At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.
Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.
The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.
He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.
[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]

The male leads are hard to understand.
We cast the female lead, and if they don’t like her, they try to make extra or villain characters into female leads.

Liz, getting married isn’t the best idea.
In my hometown, they say that single life is like being a sultan.

Liz, don’t fall for emotional manipulation. Everything men say is a lie.
Don’t trust men.

How can a slave not take seriously the words of his master, Liz?
This is absurd.
