The chilling hand reaching toward my child.

It would be a lie to say I felt no fear in that terrifying moment.

After all, Yoo Jung Hwa’s grotesque thoughts and cruelty—no longer human—were as repulsive and horrifying as maggots infesting rotting flesh.

Yet having endured her countless abuses, So Yeon—whose calluses had hardened through suffering she could no longer ignore—was now ready to confront her fiercely.

But Yoo Jung Hwa leaving first wasn’t because she feared me. It was surely because she was conscious of her image, which had been vilified daily in recent entertainment news.

Recalling the recent incident, So Yeon kept stroking Hyun Woo’s tiny hand.

Even though Hyun Woo had fallen into a deep sleep after their confrontation with Yoo Jung Hwa ended and they entered the VIP suite, So Yeon couldn’t easily pull herself away. She didn’t possess precognition, yet she could clearly foresee one thing:

as long as she refused to give up Tae Seo Jun, Yoo Jung Hwa would inevitably commit more vicious acts, and that reckless blade would surely target her and Hyun Woo.

Still, she was lucky to have the reliable Jessica. After entrusting Hyun Woo to her and stepping out of the suite, So Yeon headed toward the engagement party, which hadn’t yet concluded.

By late evening, the guests were thoroughly immersed in the final festivities of the party.

Though she had returned to the annex, So Yeon couldn’t shake off the haunting image of Yoo Jung Hwa, so she stepped out onto the balcony opposite the banquet hall, hoping to calm her anxious, unsettled mind by gazing at the open landscape.

So Yeon slowly inhaled the crisp autumn air carried by the breeze—and only then realized what she absolutely needed to do.

Before, consumed by guilt over coveting a man who wasn’t hers—and despite loving Tae Seo Jun deeply, albeit for just one day—she’d resolved to endure everything alone, unwilling to leave even the slightest blemish on him. But she could no longer do that. This wasn’t something to be borne in silence.

She now understood it was right to finally confront the task she’d postponed all this time—to expose Yoo Jung Hwa’s hidden sins, which she’d once intended to bury and ignore forever—and thereby fully protect her child, who was more precious to her than her own life.
