Yeo Woong never imagined she’d end up changing clothes at Seol Ji Oh’s house—let alone into his clothes.

Having been ambushed twice by Lucky in just one day, Yeo Woong couldn’t help but laugh in disbelief.

In the bathroom, Yeo Woong took off her beer-soaked T-shirt and pants. The beer had run from below her chest down to her legs, making her feel slightly sticky, but she wiped herself off quickly and picked up the clothes Seol Ji Oh had prepared for her.

But these clothes looked way too big at first glance.

Yeo Woong tilted her head in confusion as she put on the T-shirt. It was a plain white long-sleeve, but once worn, it reached down to her thighs—and the sleeves were far too long.

Flabbergasted, Yeo Woong took out the pants Seol Ji Oh had given her. He’d said they were the smallest size he had, yet when she tried them on, they kept sliding down her waist.

Ah, this just won’t work at all.

Yeo Woong glanced in the mirror and burst out laughing. Everything was so oversized that it felt less like she was wearing clothes and more like she’d crawled inside them.

She took off Seol Ji Oh’s pants and picked up her own damp pair again. She squeezed out as much moisture as she could and tried slipping her feet in, but the wet jeans were stiff and unyielding.

Struggling to force them on, Yeo Woong finally gave up and took them off again—the fabric was just too soaked.

Is there no way to dry them? Yeo Woong scanned the bathroom. There should be a hair dryer lying around somewhere.

But she couldn’t find one anywhere. With a sigh, she stared at her reflection in the mirror.

After checking herself front and back a few times, she looked at the T-shirt hanging halfway down her thighs and thought maybe this length wasn’t so bad after all.

Should I just step out for a second to borrow a hair dryer?

Still pondering, Yeo Woong cautiously opened the bathroom door. Seol Ji Oh was cornering Lucky against a spot in the hallway.

“Lucky. Did you do something wrong or not?”

Lucky, seemingly understanding Seol Ji Oh’s words, let out a pitiful “Hng” sound. Yeo Woong found the sight so funny she let out a small laugh.

At the sound, Seol Ji Oh turned around and his gaze locked onto Yeo Woong—who was now wearing his oversized T-shirt.

More precisely, onto her bare white legs peeking out beneath it.

That was the exact moment Seol Ji Oh’s brows furrowed.

Yeo Woong quickly covered her legs with the pants she was holding and spoke.

“Do you happen to have a hair dryer? Your pants are way too big, so I think I’ll need to dry mine and put them back on.”

For a moment, Seol Ji Oh said nothing. Then he raised a hand and rubbed his temple, muttering “Hair dryer…” before wetting his lips with his tongue and turning to head somewhere.

“…Here.”

Unlike his outstretched hand offering the dryer, his eyes wandered somewhere to the empty space beside Yeo Woong. She quickly took it and went back into the bathroom.

Only after Yeo Woong disappeared did Seol Ji Oh finally turn his gaze toward where she’d vanished. He closed his eyes as if exasperated, a faint, resigned smile playing at the corners of his lips.

Under the bright light, the nape of Seol Ji Oh’s neck was visibly flushed red.

.

.

.

A short while later, Yeo Woong stepped out of the bathroom—this time fully dressed, having put her pants back on. She handed the dryer back to Seol Ji Oh and said,

“I’ll wash the T-shirt and return it to you. Thank you.”

Seol Ji Oh stood up from the sofa, took the dryer, and examined Yeo Woong’s outfit before asking,

“Did your pants dry enough? It’s cold outside.”

“Yes. They’re wearable. I’m heading straight home anyway, so it’s fine.”

“…Sorry about all this. Because of Lucky.”

After placing the dryer down, Seol Ji Oh walked toward Yeo Woong. She, already thinking about heading home, looked around for her coat.

“Looking for your coat?”

“Yes.”

Seol Ji Oh walked a few steps, retrieved her coat, and approached her while asking,

“Are you always this careless?”

“Huh?”

Surprised by the sudden question, Yeo Woong looked up at him, puzzled.

His sharp, clean-cut features stood out clearly against his now-cooler expression.

“It’s just the two of us here… Wearing what you wore a moment ago—isn’t that a little… risky?”

Yeo Woong’s eyes widened instantly.

Risky…? Was that brief moment truly something that could’ve turned dangerous?

Between Seol Ji Oh and her?

Watching Yeo Woong blink dumbly in confusion, Seol Ji Oh stepped forward and draped the coat over her shoulders. After neatly fastening the collar for her, he said with a slight upward curve of his lips,

“Not all men are as kind as I am—so be careful.”

“Oh…”

Yeo Woong stared blankly at him, unable to find words.

What exactly did that even mean?

She moistened her dry lips with her tongue and, realizing her appearance must’ve startled him, offered an apology.

“I thought it’d just be a moment… I’m sorry.”

“No, it’s fine. Be careful on your way home.”

Yeo Woong turned toward the front door.

“I’ll head out now.”

“Okay. I’ll contact you.”

After the front door closed, Yeo Woong stood still for a moment in the hallway outside, dazed. Seol Ji Oh’s promise to contact her echoed in her ears.

Instinctively, she pressed down firmly on her heart, which was thudding loudly in her chest.

Today was the day of her meeting with VF. Yeo Woong grabbed her bag and got into her car. A meeting with VF! Regardless of the contract outcome, she was already a little excited.

Traffic was light, so she arrived at the office building quickly. Following instructions to head to the fourth-floor meeting room, Yeo Woong took the elevator up.

The fourth floor had an entirely different atmosphere from the ninth floor where Seol Ji Oh’s office had been last time—more open and freely styled in its interior design.

At the far end of the fourth floor, Yeo Woong spotted the meeting room sign and carefully knocked. A voice soon called out, “Come in.”

She opened the door to find two men and Seol Ji Oh seated inside. Yeo Woong bowed briefly and stepped in.

Then, the burlier of the two men stood up and offered his hand for a handshake.

“Ms. Yeo Woong, nice to meet you. I’m Joo Seok Young, CEO of VF.”

He looked younger than expected for a CEO, and Yeo Woong was inwardly surprised.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Yeo Woong.”

CEO Joo pointed to the man seated beside him and introduced him.

“This is our Managing Director Choi Hyun, head of VF’s casting division. He also handles Seol Ji Oh’s management.”

Yeo Woong gave another respectful nod toward Director Choi. She’d met him a few times before, so she was actually quite glad to see him again.

CEO Joo gestured for Yeo Woong to sit. Once she was seated, he sat opposite her.

“I’ve heard a lot about you from Ji Oh. He’s not the type to recommend just anyone, so I was honestly surprised when he recommended you.”

Yeo Woong glanced at Seol Ji Oh, seated beside CEO Joo. It had been quite a while since she’d seen him. When she gave him a grateful look, he simply raised an eyebrow in response.

“Our casting team thoroughly reviewed your past works, and we found them quite intriguing. Your looks and acting skills are strong, but the roles you’ve taken on have been somewhat disappointing—like you’ve got great potential, but haven’t really had the chance to show it. That’s what sparked our interest. We feel that if we just set the stage a bit, you’ll shine on your own.”

“…”

“And we were also intrigued that you landed a role in ‘Arrow.’ A film with guaranteed box office success casting an actor without an agency—well, that speaks volumes.”

CEO Joo smiled warmly as he spoke. Seol Ji Oh and Director Choi simply nodded along beside him.

Overwhelmed by the flood of praise, Yeo Woong awkwardly replied,

“Thank you for seeing me that way.”

“Here’s the exclusive contract. Please take a look.”

Yeo Woong accepted the document handed to her.

An exclusive contract. It had been such a long time since she’d held one.

“Newcomers usually sign five-year deals, but considering your experience, we’re thinking of starting with a three-year contract for you.”

Things were falling into place almost too easily, leaving Yeo Woong both thrilled and uneasy. Signing with a major agency like VF felt like a dream come true.

“Please read through the contract carefully. If there’s anything you’d like to change or any questions you have, feel free to let us know.”

“Yes. But… could I have one day? I’d like to read it through more carefully.”

“Of course. Take your time and think it over.”

CEO Joo had a refreshingly straightforward personality. Yeo Woong carefully placed the contract into her bag.

She planned to go home and pore over every word, savoring each line. As she stood to leave, Seol Ji Oh stopped her.

“Ms. Yeo Woong, if you’re not busy, how about a coffee before you go?”

Yeo Woong looked at him. Could this be about recovering her memories? She nodded. Watching this, CEO Joo chided Seol Ji Oh.

“You won’t even offer me a glass of water.”

“You should quit coffee. You’re addicted to caffeine.”

“Hmph.”

Yeo Woong was the only one surprised by how casually they spoke to each other. Clearly, beyond the CEO and his actor, the two were quite close.

The four of them stood and parted ways just outside the meeting room.

CEO Joo smiled and said he’d wait for her call, while Director Choi bowed and walked off in the opposite direction.

“Let’s head to my office.”

Yeo Woong followed Seol Ji Oh as he led the way.

His office was as neat as ever. Having visited twice now, Yeo Woong sat down on the sofa somewhat familiarly and looked at Seol Ji Oh, who sat across from her. He asked,

“Aren’t you happy?”

How could she not be? A small smile spread across Yeo Woong’s face.

“I am. So much so that it makes me nervous.”

She quietly reflected on the happiness that had recently come her way.

Her drama was doing well with solid ratings, she’d been cast as a supporting lead in Director Byeon Ju Ho’s film, and today, she’d even received an exclusive contract offer from VF—the top entertainment agency in the country.

None of it felt real. It was as if the dreams she’d held for the past eight years were suddenly coming true, one by one.

That’s exactly why she felt anxious—terrified that one small misstep might cause everything to vanish like foam.

She’d never had a life where things came to her this easily.

“You’ll sign, right?”

“Yes.”

“Then why ask for a day if you’re going to sign anyway? Are you playing hard to get?”

“Why would I play hard to get with my agency? I just wanted to take my time and feel it.”

“You’re going to ‘feel’ the contract? Seriously?”

“Well… I just meant I want to read through it carefully and think things over. Maybe imagine my future a bit too.”

“Well, either way, we’ll be eating from the same pot now.”

Yeo Woong nodded. Then, suddenly remembering Seol Ji Oh’s clothes, she rummaged through her bag. She pulled out a shopping bag containing his T-shirt and handed it to him.

“This is what I borrowed. I wore it well.”

“What’s your height, Ms. Yeo Woong?”

“I’m 164 cm.”

“Ah.”

Seol Ji Oh stared off into space as if pondering something.

Yeo Woong tilted her head and asked,

“What’s wrong?”

“I was just wondering how tall you are, since your height seemed so short when you wore that shirt.”

“I’m not exactly short. You’re just abnormally tall. You’re over 190 cm, right?”

“189 cm.”

“You shaved off one centimeter, didn’t you? You definitely look like 190. Seriously, what did you eat to get so tall? You were shorter than me when we were kids.”

“Me?”

Seol Ji Oh gave her a look that said it couldn’t possibly be true. Yeo Woong scoffed and declared confidently,

“I was taller than you until sixth grade! You caught up soon after, though.”

“Hmm…”

“It’s true!”

Seeing Seol Ji Oh still didn’t believe her, Yeo Woong protested with a hurt expression. He laughed.

“Alright, fine. I don’t remember, so I can’t argue.”

He raised both hands in mock surrender. For some reason, Yeo Woong found this even more annoying and shot him a glare.

Seol Ji Oh lowered his hands and asked,

“Do you have any schedule tomorrow?”

“Tomorrow? Uh, no filming scheduled.”

“So aside from coming to the office to sign the contract, you’ve got nothing else going on?”

“Yes. Why?”

“How about visiting my family home together after signing tomorrow?”

At the word “family home,” Yeo Woong’s expression grew complicated.

That house, that neighborhood—where Seol Ji Oh had lived thirteen years ago.

Of course, she’d also be able to see the house where she herself had lived back then.

For a moment, complex emotions swirled inside Yeo Woong’s heart.

When he discovers she has gone, he risks everything to pursue her on land, enduring agonizing pain to transform his tail into human legs…

One-line summary: Male lead chases female lead. The male lead’s love is a bit sick, an invincible love brain.

Synopsis

During a voyage at sea, Jiang Yang accidentally captures a merman.

Servant: I heard that mermen are fierce and brutal.

Jiang Yang looks at the merman obediently rubbing her palm like a puppy: “You call this fierce and brutal?”

Servant: I heard that mermen have no human nature.

Jiang Yang looks at the merman with wet puppy eyes, obsessively calling her ‘A Yang’ like a childish infant: “You call this having no human nature?”

With great difficulty, she releases the merman back into the sea and returns to shore.

Who would have thought that in less than half a month, the merman, who should have been freely wandering in the South China Sea, would shed his scales, endure the pain of losing his tail, transform into human legs, and come ashore to find her?

He kneels at her feet, rubbing her palm, with merman tears rolling down: “A Yang, don’t abandon me.”
