Sander waited quietly until she had gathered her emotions.

It would be difficult.

The desperate hatred that consumed the mind and dominated the heart was the hardest thing to suppress, no matter what stood before it.

Knowing this, he chose silence.

“Thank you, my lord Marquess.”

Erina’s face, offering gratitude with a much lighter expression than before, was as unreadable as it had been when they first met in his office.

Meanwhile, Erina struggled to hide the creeping embarrassment and shame.

For a grown woman—already married, no less—to burst into tears in front of a complete stranger was truly mortifying.

She couldn’t even blame him if he thought her strange.

Unaware—or perhaps aware—of Erina’s burning discomfort, Sander turned his gaze once more to the mana crystal he held lightly in his hand.

“Then, may I summarize and state my understanding?”

Grateful for his courteous words, Erina hurriedly nodded.

“My lady…”

“My lord Marquess, please hold off on that title for now.”

Interrupting Sander, Erina offered a faint smile as she explained.

“On the day I completely break free from Iols—when I can confirm it wasn’t just a dream…”

Her voice trailed off as she imagined that day, her clear golden eyes sparkling, her heart fluttering at the mere thought.

“Will you call me by it then?”

Sander felt as though his heart had dropped into his stomach, utterly captivated by the two beautiful, shimmering eyes before him.

“…Yes, if that is what you wish, madam.”

Forcing himself to ignore the unfamiliar feeling, Sander cleared his throat softly and continued the interrupted conversation.

“Hmm. To be precise, you entrust me with the distribution of mana crystals, and in return, I ensure your safety. Is that our agreement?”

“Yes. This agreement lasts until House Iols is ruined.”

“Very well.”

A deeply satisfied smile appeared on Sander’s face.

“Now that you possess the mana crystal, you must understand—the distribution rights are immensely valuable. You might even gain influence rivaling that of Her Imperial Highness.”

Erina agreed with Sander’s assessment.

The continent of Pechenia possessed artifacts capable of wielding magic, a power humans could scarcely imitate.

These ranged from simple artifacts that lit dark spaces to the Imperial warp gates managed and operated directly by the royal court.

However, mana crystals—the essential fuel for all these artifacts—could only be used sparingly unless new mines were discovered.

It had already been five hundred years since the last mana crystal mine was found.

Although the Imperial Court held some reserves, the quantity was so small they reserved their use only for crises threatening the Empire itself.

Thus, discovering a new mine was precious beyond measure.

This meant every artifact across the continent could now function using mana crystals extracted from this newly found mine.

The owner of this mana crystal mine would wield influence not only over the Asilium Empire but across the entire Pechenia continent.

And in the original story, Rose and Feyron had foolishly given all that away.

One simply couldn’t be this stupid.

“So please be precise—what level of authority over this venture do you desire, madam?”

“I only need the net profits to come to me.”

One of Sander’s eyebrows twitched faintly.

“I’ll leave all authority to you, my lord Marquess.”

“Why?”

His expression clearly showed dissatisfaction.

It resembled the look he’d once given the foolish Feyron in the original story—someone who’d taken every advantage yet squandered it all.

“I know my place.”

His puzzled expression struck Erina as oddly childlike, making her smile despite herself.

“Authority only holds real power when you have the strength to protect it. Honestly, could a divorced young lady with no family backing or noble lineage truly make her voice heard? It’d be a miracle if I weren’t merely used as a pawn.”

Sander’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Besides, I absolutely despise troublesome matters. So I intend to leave all the hard work to you, my lord Marquess, and simply take what I need. Is that acceptable?”

A mischievous expression—wholly at odds with her tear-swollen, red eyes—spread across Erina’s face.

Chapter 115 Chapter 114

Sander, startled at first by her abruptly changed demeanor, forgot his surprise and laughed out loud to lighten the mood.

“Hahahaha! Yes, if that is what you wish, madam.”

Though Sander tried to brush it off with laughter, the vivid impressions she’d left on him in such a short time rang alarm bells in his mind.

She was far too likable.

Her delicate, ethereal beauty concealed a spirit as straight and unbending as bamboo.

She appeared pitifully vulnerable, yet her quiet resolve to never stray beyond her own standards was deeply alluring.

Sander’s eyes gleamed dangerously.

“Then I shall take care of every troublesome matter myself. You, my lady, need only plan how to live happily from now on.”

“Thank you, my lord Marquess.”

“Let us reveal the existence of the mana crystal mine and proceed immediately with your divorce at next week’s Founding Day Festival.”

“F-Founding Day?”

Erina was startled by the mention of “next week” and “Founding Day.”

Amid the shock of Revil and Rose’s appearance and her rush to secure the mana crystal mine, she’d completely forgotten about it.

“Oh, it seems you’d forgotten.”

She recalled that the Iols manor had seemed unusually bustling when she left the mansion earlier that day—likely due to the approaching Founding Day.

The Dowager Countess Iols must have been busy preparing her favorite pastime: pitting multiple designers against each other in competition.

“If you find preparations difficult, I’d be happy to assist.”

Reading Erina’s troubled expression, Sander offered help, but she declined.

“It’s fine. Now that things have come to this, I’ll prepare a dramatic performance for the announcement that day.”

“A performance?”

“The pitiful daughter-in-law of a supposedly grand comital house who can’t even afford a new dress—and whose husband brought home a mistress, causing her visible distress—ought to draw some sympathy.”

Though she disliked relying on the nobles’ pity, at least no one would side with Feyron and Mirea.

Especially if it were revealed right there that the “mistress” was none other than Rose Ashila of House Ashila, a rising socialite beloved by many.

“Won’t that be rather interesting?”

Erina was pleased imagining the scene that would unfold, but Sander was not.

If everything played out exactly as Erina described, she would find herself in quite a predicament.

And it wouldn’t end there—she’d have to endure whispers and gossip.

Some might pity her, while others would criticize her conduct.

Though some might point fingers at Feyron and Rose, others might brand her a woman incapable of holding onto her own husband.

Anticipating the countless wounds Erina would suffer through this plan, Sander found himself strongly opposed to it.

“So you won’t reconsider?”

“When I divorce…”

Erina gazed calmly out the dark window behind him and smiled gently.

“I’ll be truly happy, free from worrying about anything. No matter what they say about me, I’ll live exactly as I please.”

“Countess…”

“Life is too short to live constantly calculating every move. Even spending every moment in happiness feels insufficient—why waste precious time nitpicking over trifles?”

Staring blankly at the small, pale moon visible between the dark windowpanes, Erina thought:

By claiming the mana crystal mine, I’ve already altered the original story—but the future remains uncertain.

If, by some chance, the immutable laws of the original plot still held, Erina could still be ruined.

She might die a year from now as in the original, or lose everything to some unforeseen disaster.

Thus, she resolved to spend whatever time remained living only for happiness.

She wanted those who had scorned and ignored her—treating her like a mere stone underfoot—to watch her now and ache with bitterness.

“Understood. I’ll help you prepare.”

“The mine is located in the rocky hill behind the village’s adjacent hill.”

“The rocky hill?”

Sander was astonished.

He prided himself on knowing the hill beside the village extremely well—yet never imagined the rocky hill directly behind it held a mana crystal mine.

“You’ll see my name carved into a section of the rocky hill as soon as you cross over the first hill.”

Upon hearing this, Sander realized he’d never actually ventured near that rocky hill.

How remarkably odd.

“I’ll verify it and begin preparations for mining.”

“I’ll entrust this mana crystal in your hands, my lord Marquess. I’m counting on you for Founding Day.”

“It’s grown quite late—shall we discuss the rest in the morning?”

“Yes.”

Realizing they’d spoken for quite some time, Erina and Sander decided to conclude their conversation.

After Erina bowed and left the office, Sander watched her back until the door closed behind her and she disappeared from sight.

“Lanta.”

“Yes, your Grace.”

A man who had stood silently in a corner of the office the entire time—from the moment Erina entered until she departed—now stepped forward before Sander.

“Re-investigate the Iols estate.”

“Understood.”

Watching Lanta vanish quietly, Sander sank into endless contemplation.

[This is the timeline separator]

The moment Erina stepped out of the office and into the room where Revil had been waiting, she was startled by the sight before her.

Her meeting with Sander had run later than expected after she’d cried and finished their conversation.

True to his word that he’d wait, Revil stood by the bedside, eyes red from waiting, his expression full of anticipation.

The moment Chemil saw Erina enter, she brightened visibly.

“Oh, madam! The child refused to budge, insisting on waiting for you—I was so flustered! I was just about to go look for you. Now that you’re here, I’ll take my leave.”

As soon as Chemil bowed and swiftly exited, Revil, who’d been looking down, suddenly lifted his head and gazed at Erina.

His crimson eyes shimmered with both sorrow and joy.

Though his eyes usually reminded her painfully of Feyron, for the first time, House Iols didn’t cross her mind when she looked at him.

Even that flickering crimson—symbolic of House Iols like a dancing flame—now let her see not Iols, but Revil.

“You’ve… come.”

Tucked in Revil’s arms was the long parasol Erina had entrusted to him back at the rocky hill.

She’d set it down briefly at Susan and John’s house to eat and assumed she’d forgotten it—but Revil hadn’t.

He clutched it as if it were his only lifeline.

Carefully watching Erina’s expression, Revil timidly drew closer and held out the parasol.

When Erina took it, her heart trembled.

It seemed Revil had found in her the very thing she herself had desperately sought after her uncle took everything from her.

She hadn’t wanted this.

Now that he’d become House Iols’ heir, she knew she had to let him go.

Understanding this instinctively, the boy didn’t reach out—only looked at her with quiet longing.

He wanted her, yet didn’t want to burden her with his desire, knowing she couldn’t hold on.

Seeing this, Erina kept recalling her own childhood in him—making it impossible not to give him her attention and care.

“Revil, if you truly don’t mind giving up everything House Iols will one day be yours…”

Overwhelmed by indescribable emotions she couldn’t even define herself, Erina couldn’t steady her trembling heart.

“Will you come away with me?”

At those words, Revil’s crimson eyes filled entirely with pure joy.

Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day

It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.

The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.

Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.

If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.

It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.

The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.

In the end, everything will come together and be explained.

One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!

In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.

Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.

However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.

Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.

Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?

——

Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.

His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.

Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”

——

The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.

Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!

Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!

The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…

——

But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.

The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.

She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…

Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”

Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”

Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?

[Small Theater]

The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.

Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”

Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.

Zhu Wansheng: ?

Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…

On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.

Warm breath lingers on her neck.

“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
