Erina met Sander’s sharp gaze—fixed on her, who bore the name Iols—without flinching.

Sander felt oddly unsettled by Erina’s direct stare, a presence that had never flickered in his long-laid plans.

Strangely, under that gaze, unlike her, whose eyes held a sparkling hue, he recalled the vivid crimson of House Iols—a color shining brightly only to conceal its ugliness.

It was the very hue that had stolen his sister, the sole reason for his life, and his niece, the last thread tethering him to existence.

Though time had passed enough to dull hatred, memories of those days still made his mind reel as if his blood boiled backward.

Sander had no choice but to swallow his surging emotions along with a sigh.

As he always did.

“Hmm.”

The languid sigh, like that of a beast, sent a chill down Erina’s neck.

“It seems Countess Iols finds the House Iols entirely displeasing.”

Erina tightened her grip on her handbag to keep from trembling under Sander’s gaze, which had softened slightly since before.

“I propose a deal with you, Marquess.”

“A deal?”

True to his family’s role overseeing all imperial trading houses, Sander reacted differently at the word “deal.”

“From the Countess of House Iols, reputed to be the weakest among them?”

“Yes.”

Erina nodded calmly despite Sander’s sarcasm, a response so unfamiliar to him.

Her blank expression, concealing slight unease, intrigued Sander strangely.

Releasing the hand propping his chin, Sander sat upright and asked again.

“What’s the deal?”

“I’ll tell you once you accept it.”

“Now, madam. Do you not understand the basics of a deal?”

Though Sander alternated between formal and informal speech—a tone that ought to have irritated—Erina didn’t flinch.

“But I can clearly tell you the definite outcome of this deal.”

Settling onto the sofa, Erina placed her handbag on her knees and continued.

“The fall of House Iols.”

A glint sparked in Sander’s eyes.

For someone bearing the Iols name and enjoying everything it granted to speak of its downfall herself—

From Sander’s perspective, it was an irresistibly sweet bait.

So tempting he simply couldn’t walk away.

“Ha, very well. I accept your deal.”

At Sander’s acceptance, Erina nudged open her handbag.

Meeting his burning, fiercely bright gaze head-on, she pulled out a mana stone and set it on the table.

Sander’s expression—once certain nothing could ever shatter it—cracked at the sight of the pale violet mana stone.

“This is…”

“I’ve discovered a mana stone mine.”

Sander lifted the stone carefully, as if entranced.

Inside the mana stone, glowing from its own magical energy, was engraved ‘Erina Medelia.’

“Erina Medelia.”

“Yes. Not Erina Iols, but Erina Medelia is its owner. What do you say?”

Sander’s mind whirled ceaselessly with thoughts.

No matter how he reasoned or planned, only overwhelmingly favorable conclusions emerged.

Even if every other aspect of this deal disadvantaged him, this alone made it impossible to refuse.

The benefits of monopolizing mana stone distribution were immense enough to outweigh every drawback.

Erina knew Sander couldn’t refuse once he saw the mana stone.

A mana stone capable of activating dormant artifacts would make its distributor the undisputed authority among nobles merely by existing.

Everyone already knew how rare and scarce mana stones were—their value astronomical, price dictated solely by the owner.

Distributing such mana stones was akin to walking a perfectly paved path to vastly elevating one’s status and influence.

But in the original story, Feyron tossed it all away, ostentatiously demonstrating loyalty and handing the distribution rights entirely to the imperial family.

Of course, his house would be beloved by the imperial lineage for generations—but that was all.

Consequently, Sander—entrusted with all imperial distribution at the time—reaped every benefit, and in the original, he thought Feyron a fool.

‘A fool who can’t properly use what he has.’

That was how Sander had referred to Feyron when distributing the mana stones in the original story.

The truly ridiculous part was that every noble involved in the deal agreed.

In the original, after Sander took control of the mana stone mine, he ceased approaching Rose entirely.

As if all business with her had concluded.

Of course, Rose had just before rejected him, declaring Feyron was all she had before handing the mine to him—but Sander cleanly severed his persistent pursuit of Rose, as though he’d simply been waiting for the right timing.

Unlike Feyron in the original who surrendered everything to the imperial family, Erina intended to give Sander a share of the mana stone mine.

Unlike Rose and Feyron, who gained nothing tangible in the original, Erina planned to claim everything—with Sander as her sturdy shield.

The imperial family’s affection Feyron so desperately sought, the public admiration Rose so relished, and her own standing among conservative nobles.

“Enchanting.”

Sander’s eyes, still fixed on the mana stone, betrayed the faintest hint of eased tension.

“I have many questions, but let’s first hear the exact terms of the deal before proceeding.”

Sander’s tone had grown markedly courteous, unlike earlier.

Hearing this, Erina relaxed her tightly set lips.

“Once the existence of the mana stone is revealed, I’ll divorce. Very easily.”

“I see.”

The name carved into the mana stone was Erina Medelia.

In the Asilium Empire, where mana stone’s power was believed to be divine, the name engraved upon it held absolute authority.

The imperial court, overseeing noble marriages and divorces, would readily and swiftly grant her divorce.

“Throughout this entire process, I ask you, Marquess, to be my patron.”

“Hmm?”

Rose had entered the Iols mansion only yesterday; apparently, the news hadn’t yet reached Sander.

According to a passing line from the original story, Sander had excessively monitored House Iols—

Gathering even the smallest bits of information.

Initially, Erina had assumed it was because of Rose, but her inexplicable intuition insisted there was more to it.

“Count Iols brought in a woman named Rose Ashila into the mansion, claiming she’s the one he loves.”

“Oh?”

Sander stared at her incredulously, as if asking whether this was truly real.

“Count Iols refuses to listen when I try to speak the truth, and Dowager Countess Iols constantly berates me for always falling short, calling that woman my new sister-in-law.”

Sander’s face hardened.

To other nobles, she was merely the powerless countess who’d lost her house to a cousin and entered a political marriage.

That was all anyone knew of Erina.

Strangely, Sander couldn’t look away as the eyes of the woman he’d always perceived as an inconspicuous noblewoman slowly welled with tears.

“Even when I do nothing, I’m hated; even when I act rightly, I’m condemned.”

The harsh reality she voiced stung so deeply that Erina unknowingly shed tears.

The tears burned as they crossed the wound on her cheek.

From the thin, long gash, all the anger she’d tightly bottled up over time began to seep out.

“There’s nothing I can do there. So, Marquess, I beg you…”

Erina couldn’t continue, her tears falling steadily.

Biting his lip, Sander absentmindedly offered her a handkerchief from his pocket, unsure how to handle her weeping.

Erina seemed unable even to sob aloud, struggling to breathe properly as she tried to suppress her tears.

For some reason, Sander disliked the way she tried to swallow her sobs.

She might as well wail loudly like others did.

With trembling hands, Erina accepted the pristine handkerchief and buried her face in it.

Everything she’d held back finally burst forth before Sander—the first person she’d ever met like this.

This man, who’d proposed a deal, was certainly not someone she found comforting.

This was the reality she’d endured alone, never speaking of it to anyone.

She’d kept telling herself she was fine, deliberately ignoring it—but the moment her imprisoned sorrow escaped her lips, it all came crashing down.

“Lady Erina Medelia.”

Hearing Sander address her not as Countess Iols but by her own name, Erina’s suppressed sobs broke through.

Sander, sensing in her sorrow a depth rivaling his own hatred, felt an unexpected sense of kinship—but also panic.

Having lived a harsh life where even crying was impossible, he’d always believed shedding tears was the most useless act in the world.

He’d coldly rejected everyone who’d wept before him, pleading with emotion or begging for mercy with tears.

Yet why did Erina before him stir such pity and concern?

Sander couldn’t understand—whether he should stop his own hand from reaching out to wipe her tears, or why he, who always acted according to plan, was blurting words without thought.

“…I promise. Until this deal’s goal is perfectly achieved, I’ll properly protect you as your patron.”

Suppressing his urge to brush back her disheveled hair, Sander waited for her.

After a long while, Erina hastily wiped her tear-streaked face, having shaken with silent sobs.

The salt in her tears stung her wound, making her grimace—and Sander’s expression twisted in sudden fury.

“Don’t tell me Count Iols laid hands on you too?”

His gaze shifted slightly to her swollen cheek, where the injury was visible.

“No. This was done by Dowager Countess Iols…”

“Ha! What an infuriating household.”

From Sander’s perspective, this truly was outrageous and suffocating.

Such conduct was utterly unthinkable in current noble society.

Domestic violence or deceiving one’s spouse was not only morally condemned but legally punishable.

It stunned him that Feyron, a knight, could have allowed this.

“What on earth…”

Overwhelmed and bewildered, Sander could only let out a hollow laugh.

“It seems we’ll achieve the deal’s objective simply through grounds for divorce alone—without needing any elaborate plans.”

He was right.

With solid evidence and proper grounds for divorce submitted, Erina could obtain her divorce easily.

But in the original story, Erina hadn’t done this because she loved Feyron.

Foolishly so.

Yet she wasn’t the only fool.

Knowing the original story and wishing to change it, she herself was just as foolish—clinging to the naive hope that things might be different.

“Marquess, I…”

Sander’s brow furrowed slightly.

Surely she wasn’t about to say she still loved Count Iols despite all this.

“I just hope they don’t fall quietly and normally.”

At those words, Sander felt his earlier discomfort momentarily vanish.

“I want them to sink into the mud like I did, floundering helplessly, and receive back every bit of the pain they gave me.”

The fury and hatred in her eyes matched his own.

Strangely, Sander found that one fact immensely pleasing—though he couldn’t say why.

“Only then do I think I’ll be able to breathe.”

Erina didn’t hate them. Or so she thought.

She believed she didn’t hate her husband, who refused to truly hear her voice; the mistress who brazenly entered their home; or her mother-in-law, who criticized her endlessly.

But she was wrong. Erina did hate them.

She loathed them so intensely it became hard to breathe.

For the first time, Erina resolved to be honest with her own feelings.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
