They headed toward the place rumored to be Vincenti’s residence, located in the abandoned hunting grounds. Unlike before, when there had been nothing, lesser monsters began swarming them as soon as they entered the monster lair today.

“I’ll take a pain-dulling potion before we go.”

In the game, characters never actually felt pain, so this potion was rarely used.

Of course, it did reduce mental and physical damage when attacked, effectively protecting the character—but considering the ingredients required, it was more efficient to craft defensive or health potions instead, so this one was generally avoided for practical reasons.

But here, they were making more pain-dulling potions than any other kind. The people fighting alongside him now weren’t game characters but real individuals, and he wanted them to suffer as little injury and pain as possible.

He opened the map and shared Vincenti’s dwelling, confirmed from the strategy board. Kite, having gauged their approximate direction, gave a final warning before setting off.

“We need to kill as few as possible while passing through. It seems that once the monster population drops below a certain threshold, people hired by Kuran appear and attack us.”

Following his instructions, the group stayed tightly together, focusing solely on clearing a path.

The deeper they ventured inside, the eerily quieter the lair became. Unlike ordinary monsters, those here attacked silently, as if deliberately avoiding disturbing their lair’s master’s rest.

“Does that look like it?”

Hazen, constantly checking the map as he followed behind Kite, pointed to a small hole visible ahead.

“It seems right. Everyone, regroup and then we’ll go in.”

At Kite’s command, they received Tien’s buffs and drank various potions to aid their offense and defense.

Seeing them now take care of themselves without needing constant reminders made his nose sting slightly.

Thinking about it, his words, actions, and even the items he carried—all of it must have seemed utterly strange and shocking to them. Yet they’d accepted it all without much resistance, and for that, he was grateful.
