“That makes sense. So, has Kite gone to meet the King of Orwel now? I heard he’d been to Orwel.”

“No. As Duke Perimontra, he couldn’t possibly do that. He went because Mitchell went scouting toward Orwel and reported that the monsters in that area are acting strangely.”

“Has something gone wrong?”

“Normally, even when monster numbers increased, they never ventured beyond the surrounding villages. But recently, they’ve reportedly been spreading toward the capitals of various kingdoms.”

“So this is different from before?”

“It’s the first time this has happened in fifteen years.”

“It’s enough to suspect an invasion from Kuran.”

Now she understood why the kings of those two kingdoms wanted to merge with Helane. Since only Helane, Elab, and Leor had any ability users, they clearly had no way to fend off the monsters’ invasion.

Ruela recalled what Kite had told her.

She’d heard that Helane assigned a dedicated department to manage its ability users, treating them exceptionally well and overseeing them meticulously.

At one time, the Elab Empire had imprisoned ability users in a place called the Prasot Islands and persecuted them, causing many people to either hide their abilities or flee to Helane.

Though she was still investigating, she suspected the Romnin family had likely escaped from Elab as well.

In any case, Helane began rigorously managing its own ability users as a result of that incident.

They granted a mansion and an annual pension to anyone who voluntarily reported their ability, and even established a new department within the royal palace to assign them suitable tasks for the nation’s benefit.

Given this situation, it seemed Mazel and Orwel wanted to merge with Helane, if only to gain the protection of these ability users.
