The Maid Hates Childcare (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 5
‘No way.’
I set the earthenware pot down on the floor.
As soon as it touched the ground, the pot shattered into three pieces.
‘Is his head okay?’
In the original story, Kashar suffered from a condition called “Rampant Madness.”
In truth, it wasn’t an illness but a curse—which made it even worse.
‘When the Rampant Madness first struck, an entire palace was said to have been completely destroyed.’
The core of Rampant Madness was indiscriminate slaughter and destruction.
That day, everyone assigned to manage the palace lost their lives at his hands.
Unaware that the cause of the madness was a curse, the Emperor banished Kashar from the imperial palace and even sent him off to the battlefield.
Remembering the original story sent chills down my spine.
‘I knocked out a man who annihilated an entire army.’
And I did it with an earthenware pot.
‘But if it’s Rampant Madness, isn’t that a brain-related issue? And I hit him right on the head…?’
Maybe I’d just done something truly terrible.
The thought of having assaulted a patient with a pot stung my conscience twice as hard.
‘In the original, it was mentioned that Kashar had ingested poison.’
‘Alubi’ was a rare fruit known to awaken the mind.
However, prolonged consumption caused severe headaches and resulted in vomiting black blood as a side effect.
Only the female lead could lift the curse. Until meeting Eltheas, Kashar survived solely by relying on poison.
‘Oh well.’
No matter how monstrous the man might be, I still felt overwhelmingly guilty.
Pacing restlessly in place, I eventually began scolding Kashar.
“Why on earth are you here?”
I didn’t even know why he was here—Kashar rarely entered the imperial palace in the first place.
‘The fact that he’s here now must mean…’
After desperately wracking my brain, I finally recalled a single clue.
‘It’s the anniversary of his mother’s death.’
The Emperor had confined Empress Viviana, blaming her for giving birth to a son afflicted with Rampant Madness.
Only after Viviana’s death did the Emperor feel remorseful, and when granting Kashar his title, he made this request:
“Ensure she rests in peace.”
Every year on the anniversary of Viviana’s death, Kashar visited the tower where she’d been imprisoned and kept watch over it.
At that moment, a familiar scene flashed through my mind.
‘If it’s the tower, could it be…?’
I rushed outside—and beyond the woods, I saw the tower.
‘How could it be this close?’
All this time, I’d thoughtlessly assumed it was just some tower, never realizing it was where the former empress had been confined.
Staring blankly at the tower for a long while, I finally returned to the kitchen.
Kashar still lay motionless on the cold floor.
‘He’s going to die.’
My initial disbelief faded, replaced by a crushing sense of reality.
I was going to catch hell for breaking that pot!
He’d surely regain consciousness soon.
Once he did, he’d piece everything together and brutally slaughter the culprit.
‘Slice, dice, chop, chop.’
In that instant, I envisioned the immediate future.
It was the closing scene of my life.
‘What if I just pretend I don’t know and go back to sleep…? No, I can’t. Right.’
I slowly sank down beside Kashar.
‘They say you never know what life will throw at you.’

Lost in self-pity, I sat there so long I didn’t even notice my legs going numb.
‘Ah, dawn’s about to break.’
Daylight was already creeping in.
I alternated my gaze between the bluish sky and Kashar.
“…….”
Would he ever understand the turmoil burning inside me?
Kashar merely breathed quietly, his chest rising and falling steadily.
‘Sleep well.’
He looked perfectly peaceful, as if merely asleep.
‘He’ll probably be fine when he wakes up.’
Despite my worries, the original Kashar was portrayed as a monster.
‘How could I forget the scene where he swung a sword with a gaping hole in his stomach?’
He’d surely spring up as good as new.
“Ahh.”
Just as that thought crossed my mind,
another opportunity flashed through my head.
‘Let’s abandon him.’
Dawn was breaking.
My eyes drifted toward the shopping cart.
Opposite the abandoned palace and the tower lay a deserted forest.
If I left him there, maybe it’d all blow over.
‘He might even think he was ambushed.’
People are always disoriented when they wake from unconsciousness.
I prayed he’d forget everything that happened in the abandoned palace.
I gazed wistfully at the cart.
‘I went through so much trouble bringing that thing here.’
Never thought it’d come in handy like this.
I marveled at my own foresight.
“…Alright.”
I straightened my crouched body and stood up.
‘He’s still out cold.’
After double-checking Kashar’s condition, I vaulted over his body.
“Please don’t wake up.”
I lifted his leg and draped it over my shoulder.
“Huff—hah…!”
He was ridiculously heavy!
Wiping cold sweat from my brow, I looked down at Kashar lying in the cart.
His long, well-built frame meant his arms and legs stuck out beyond the cart’s edges.
After much grunting and struggling,
I finally managed to get Kashar loaded into the cart.
“I’m… really sorry about this.”
I quietly gazed down at his handsome face, even as he lay unconscious.
For a brief moment, I felt conflicted.
“Better hurry.”
I had to go abandon him.
Gripping the cart’s handle tightly as the sky grew brighter,
“Ugh—!”
I began pulling the cart with all my strength.
“Inventions are truly great.”
Kashar didn’t wake up even after a long while.

Soon, I reached the center of the forest.
“This should do.”
There couldn’t be a better spot to ditch a supporting male lead.
‘Please, let Kashar develop amnesia.’
If not full amnesia, at least let him lose half a day’s worth of memories.
That way, everything about the abandoned palace—and the headache—would never have happened.
‘I’m really, really sorry.’
I grabbed Kashar’s leg and dragged him out of the cart.
‘Even lying on dirt, a handsome man stays handsome.’
I pretended to wipe away tears with my sleeve.
“Let’s never see each other again.”
I might’ve looked like a tragic heroine, but right now, I meant every word.
Please, don’t remember me.
Just as I turned to leave—long hair fluttering dramatically without a hint of regret—
*GRIP—*
“…!”
Something clamped down on my wrist hard enough to break it.
I tried to yank free but only ended up toppling forward, pulled entirely off balance.
*THUD.* The world flipped upside down in an instant, my head hitting the ground.
And before I could even process what happened,
“You. Who are you?”
A deep shadow loomed over me.
Kashar had already straddled my body, growling menacingly.
Everything felt too unreal—I could only blink blankly.
Even then, Kashar kept observing me.
“Th… that…”
The moment I opened my mouth, his crimson eyes gleamed.
‘Is this really the same person?’
Tension made my whole body go numb.
I realized far too late that when humans get overly terrified, they blurt out nonsense.
“Did… did you lose your memory by any chance?”
Please say yes. Please.
The hope I’d kept buried spilled out through my foolish mouth.
I was practically demanding he become an amnesiac.
“What?”
Kashar’s face twisted in disbelief.
Now he looked at me as if I were utterly insane.
*Gulp.* I swallowed hard.
My mind went blank amid the burning panic.
“I—I didn’t mean…”
I had to say something—anything—to survive.
I squeezed my eyes shut and shouted,
“I didn’t mean to abandon you!”
It was the honest truth.
If only you hadn’t tried sneaking into my home in the first place!
Maybe I was going crazy too.
Fear faded slightly, replaced by a growing sense of injustice.
“Abandon? What?”
Kashar muttered, clearly baffled.
But it didn’t take him long to realize I’d meant to abandon him.

“…Huh?”
I timidly opened my eyes, hoping to offer some excuse—but upon hearing that sigh-like sound, I slammed them shut again.
“I—I thought you were a thief! Honestly…!”
My trailing voice shrank so small it could’ve crawled into a mouse hole.
The silence that followed felt as long as the stretch from the Cretaceous period to modern times.
“Open your eyes.”
His voice was laced with irritation.
At Kashar’s command, I obediently snapped my eyes open like a well-trained doll.
But even with my eyes open, I didn’t know where to look.
As my eyes darted around, his calloused hand gripped my chin and lifted it.
“Eenngghh (P-please spare me)!”
As he turned my face this way and that, then pinched my cheek, a ridiculous sound burst out involuntarily.
He stared at me like I was some bizarre creature and asked,
“That place was where people live?”
He remembered everything.
Even in this situation, I couldn’t help but notice his memory was perfectly intact.
‘Surprisingly, people actually live in places like that.’
Yeah, I knew my place was messy too.
Hearing those words from someone else’s mouth left a sour taste.
“So.”
Kashar’s lips twisted as he spoke.
“You personally smashed the thief’s head and tried to dump him in this deserted forest?”
His words left me speechless, like a snapped shut clam.
Because it was one hundred percent accurate—no rebuttal possible.
“Ways to destroy evidence sure come in all varieties.”
Kashar ran a hand through his hair in exasperation.
His brief, incredulous smile vanished as he touched his head and winced belatedly in pain.
“Damn it.”
That short curse paralyzed me—not just stopped my breath, but seemed to freeze every cell in my body.
Because I understood exactly why Kashar was reacting this way.
‘Oh no… it’s healed.’
Watching him touch the back of his head, cold sweat poured down my spine like a sudden downpour.
There was nothing left to fix the situation.
In my final moments, a surge of unnatural strength let me shove him away.
“You want to die…?”
Just as he moved to pin me down again—assuming I’d try to flee—
I dropped to my knees faster than he could react.
“P-please don’t kill me!”
I frantically rubbed my palms together.
Tears—tiny as ant pee—finally spilled, even though none had come when I’d tried to abandon him.
“I have imperial princes I need to feed and care for…!”
Whether he found it absurd or not, I channeled the spirit of a devoted parent and cried out.
“Imperial princes?”
Kashar, who’d been watching my tearful plea with a blank expression, perked up at that single phrase.
“Yes! The Duke’s younger brothers!”
Overjoyed that he’d reacted at all, I nodded my head wildly like a madwoman.
“You’re a maid, then?”
“Yes! A full-time maid!”
Though kneeling ruined any professional image, I tried my best to convey expertise through my expression alone.
“Serving the imperial family.”

Kashar’s gaze shifted subtly as he looked at me.
‘Disputes among royalty are always such a hassle.’
He finally removed his hand from the hilt of his sword, which he’d been idly touching.
‘That’s it!’
I’m going to live!
Rainbows arced across the sky, and I almost saw angelic trumpets heralding my salvation.
Just as I rejoiced inwardly, he turned to me, eyes wide.
“Really? Then I’ll need to have a little chat with the person you serve.”
His smile could’ve charmed anyone—but to me, it was a death sentence.
Before I could recover from the shock,
his melting smile abruptly froze.
“Lead the way.”
With that order and a nod, Kashar’s hand returned to his sword hilt.
It was a clear warning: hesitate even a second, and my body and head would part ways.
My legs, stiff with fear, could only tremble as I forced myself upright.
“Um…”
At my hesitant call, a killer’s glare shot my way.
I gave an awkward smile and pointed to the shopping cart.
“I, uh… I need to bring that along.”
You probably don’t know, but I went through so much trouble carrying it here.
When I swallowed the rest of my words, he just stared at me, utterly speechless.
“…I’ll carry it now!”
Interpreting his silence as consent, I grabbed the cart and started pulling.

The premise seemed interesting enough but unfortunately the way it’s written is very poor. Idk if it’s the way the writer writes or a translation error but it’s just not smooth. Something about the writing feels disjointed
