The Maid Hates Childcare (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
“My head still feels numb at the back.”
The furrowed brows, as if suffering from a headache, were evidence that his patience was slowly wearing thin.
“…It’s because you haven’t eaten anything! Breakfast is the best medicine, after all!”
It wasn’t a lie.
I calmed my pounding heart and began setting the table.
Emma helped me carry the dishes.
Soon, a splendid breakfast of rice, dried pollack soup served in a stone pot, babagoo kimchi, and stir-fried anchovies was complete.
“Please eat.”
With those words, I carefully stepped backward.
“Wow! Another new dish!”
Louis excitedly picked up his fork and spoon.
“Thank you for the meal!”
“…I’ll eat well too.”
In contrast, Evan picked up his chopsticks first—graceful and proper in his handling.
I knew this refinement was the fruit of a week’s effort practicing moving beans across the table with chopsticks, but I feigned ignorance.
While this breakfast was familiar to the children, it wasn’t for Kashar.
“…What is this?”
His eyes sharpened at the sight of the stone pot, identical to the one that had cracked his head.
“It’s food from my hometown… No, from my hometown, honey.”
Before I could finish speaking properly, Louis shot me a suspicious glance.
I hastily corrected my tone.
Kashar, however, no longer seemed to care about speech patterns; he lifted one chopstick and stared intently at its tip.
‘Scary!’
Could a handsome man truly be this terrifying?
If left alone, he might very well stab me with those chopsticks.
I quickly snatched away the chopsticks—now turned into weapons—and placed a spoon in his empty hand instead.
“Please try the soup before it gets cold. It’s a broth made from dried fish… something similar, anyway.”
A refreshing hangover soup, painstakingly prepared from dried pollack—please try just one spoonful!
At my urging, Kashar stared intently at the yellowish broth.
The golden broth, tender dried fish, softly cooked egg, and green scallions created a harmonious blend.
‘Let’s see just how extraordinary this breakfast really is.’
Since I’d already offered my life, I had nothing more to lose, so I urged him with a bright smile.
Eventually, he scooped up a spoonful of the dried pollack soup.
“Eat something delicious to calm your anger.”
It was an excruciatingly tense moment.
My one advantage was knowing he liked fish and seafood.
‘After all, there was even a scene in the story where he ate seafood.’
Slowly, the spoon filled with golden broth entered his mouth.
As the spoon withdrew and the broth slid down his throat, his eyes widened abruptly.
‘Oh no—does it taste bad?’
I held my breath, anxiously awaiting Kashar’s reaction.
But instead of looking at me, he scooped up another spoonful of broth.
With such elegant hand movements that even his ginseng-patterned spoon appeared luxurious, Kashar finally spoke.
“…It’s not bad.”
He muttered, seemingly surprised.
“Really? How good is it?!”
Is it good enough to spare my life?!
Thankfully, it seemed I’d successfully hit his taste preferences.
Unable to hide my joy, I asked him eagerly, and he responded with that familiar smile directed at me.
“Good enough to cure the headache you gave me.”

“…Ah, hahaha. Dried pollack soup is indeed great for hangovers.”
“I didn’t drink alcohol, though.”
“Well, since you passed out and just woke up, it’s kind of similar… Never mind! Try it like this!”
My words tumbled out awkwardly. I quickly snatched his spoon, dipped it into the rice with broth, and held it to his lips.
“…What are you doing?”
“Come on, open wide—ahh!”
Carbohydrates were essential to brighten one’s mood.
Taking advantage of the moment Kashar opened his mouth, I fed him a bite.
“Ahh, Aileen! Feed me too!”
Louis’s voice came from the side, but this time, I had no choice but to pretend not to hear.
“This one too, and this one as well.”
I stuck close to Kashar’s side, loading side dishes onto his spoon.
‘I feel just like a palace head maid.’
Eventually, pushed by my persistent attentiveness, Kashar finished every bit of the meal I’d prepared.
After placing down his empty bowl, he fell into deep thought for a moment before asking,
“…How long has it been since we first met?”
It seemed Kashar had decided to play along with my act.
I noticed Louis, who had been silently eating, suddenly perking up his ears.
If my acting were exposed, he’d likely grab the stone pot and start a commotion right away.
With no other choice, I continued the performance.
“About a year… no, wait, it must be three years already!”
Why on earth was the conversation suddenly veering in this direction?
The atmosphere, which had earlier felt as if someone might snap at any moment, had long since relaxed.
Yet, for some reason, I had the uneasy feeling that something had gone terribly wrong.
Kashar took my stiffened hand and spoke.
“Aileen. I’d like to become more serious with you.”
He whispered my name—the one he’d overheard from the princes.
His warm grip and languid gaze nearly enchanted me into submission.
‘Did he go mad from hitting his head?’
I’d hoped he’d develop amnesia, not lose his mind like this.
“Yeah. That’s awfully sudden—almost as if you were the one who struck me down.”
“Ah, well…”
Guilt kept me from giving a proper reply.
But to an outsider, it looked perfectly ripe for misunderstanding. Emma’s eyes shone like those of a devoted morning-drama viewer.
‘Me hitting him, and then Kashar clinging to me… That’s utterly absurd.’
I silently pleaded with Emma that it wasn’t like that, but she wouldn’t even look at me.
Kashar rose from his seat. From behind, he appeared pitiful—just like a heroine rejected by the female lead.
“Are you leaving?!”
But all I could see was nothing.
Right. A blow to the head might briefly drive someone mad, but the way he was now preparing to leave immediately suggested he’d regained his senses.
‘I hope this meal paid off for my sin.’
I sincerely wished he’d just vanish right then and there.
“Yeah.”
Kashar slowly nodded. I nearly teared up from relief.
‘If I let him go like this, it really will be goodbye.’
He’d eaten well, and his anger seemed to have subsided.
Things were going far better than I’d expected.
“Please take care on your way!”
Still, it was nice to see such a handsome man—no, a handsome second lead.
Just as I bowed deeply from the heart,

Kashar approached with his long legs and took my hand. His warm lips brushed against the back of my hand.
We were far too close.
He whispered softly, so only I could hear,
“You ate well. So now, I should return the favor.”
“Huh?”
“Wait quietly. It wouldn’t be fun if you ran away.”
His sweetly menacing voice echoed in my ears.
[This is the timeline separator]Inside the carriage returning to Ruben Castle.
Across from Kashar sat a man with tied-back gray hair—his aide, Mikhail Evans.
Mikhail’s gray eyes surveyed his master. Since leaving, Kashar had only stared out the window.
He maintained a blank expression, yet occasionally burst into laughter. He looked exactly like a handsome madman.
‘Has he finally lost his mind?’
Though suppressed by poison, he’d always been a lunatic—so madness at any moment wouldn’t be surprising.
His innate physical prowess and regenerative abilities were so extraordinary he barely qualified as human.
Ever since Kashar’s first war—as a discarded crown prince—Mikhail had stood by his side as both aide and mage.
‘The Bladis War.’
Bladis, once a mid-sized nation, had gradually aligned itself with a coalition that turned hostile toward Reihardt.
Eventually, war broke out, primarily over prized territories.
Kashar was the first sent into that war.
It was a war meant to kill him, yet he survived.
On the contrary.
‘Bladis pitied itself.’
At fifteen, Kashar awakened his imperial bloodline’s power on the battlefield.
Everything he touched became a weapon; even alone, he could sever enemy commanders’ heads.
Scholars who had long studied imperial abilities declared his power transcended human limits.
Yet, historically speaking, no record existed of such monstrous capabilities.
The war ended as a one-sided slaughter.
Bladis collapsed after merely three clashes, and once its king was beheaded, the entire nation merged with Reihardt.
That was why Kashar received the title “Duke of Bladis.”
Though his master’s psychology remained as unreadable now as it had been then, some things still needed to be understood by an aide.
What could have gone wrong during the memorial day for former Empress Viviana?
Just as Mikhail was about to speak cautiously,
“Did something happen—”
“Honey? Really?”
Startled.
Kashar’s abrupt remark made Mikhail frown.
Surely he wasn’t talking to me.
At that bizarre thought, Mikhail trembled slightly, his face expressionless.
“I met an interesting woman.”
At the word “woman,” Mikhail visibly relaxed.
Yet despite his aide’s relief, Kashar was thinking something entirely different.
Long chestnut hair and emerald-green eyes.
An ordinary-looking maid flickered in Kashar’s mind.
He’d been returning from the tower after fulfilling an order when a certain scent captivated him.
‘Delicious aroma.’
A rich, unique fragrance drifted from the back entrance.
It was unbelievable—he hadn’t smelled anything this fragrant in ages.
His feet moved of their own accord toward the source.
The instant he arrived and let his guard down, something blunt struck his head.

He passed out immediately.
Being hit on the back of the head was absurd enough—but the maid went further, attempting to dispose of him to cover up the incident.
‘Madwoman.’
Truly, that’s exactly what she was.
When she’d pretended to be his lover, he’d thought only of killing her.
But—
Just before drawing his blade, that scent he’d smelled before passing out teased his nose again.
The perfect aroma that had ensnared him.
Ultimately, out of sheer hope, he stayed.
Then, soon after, breakfast was served.
Among the unfamiliar foods, a yellowish soup-like dish caught his eye.
‘That scent.’
It smelled even more fragrant than what he’d remembered.
Kashar finally picked up his spoon.
The moment the broth touched his tongue, a deep, savory-salty richness spread through his mouth.
At first, he was simply astonished by the taste—but as it went down his throat, his body reacted instantly.
‘The pain is fading.’
The Alubi Fruit suppresses madness but inflicts excruciating pain.
The fact that the burning agony in his organs was disappearing proved his madness was subsiding.
The more he swallowed the yellow broth, the more the pain receded.
Eventually, his body grew languid, and he even felt willing to forgive anything.
‘…She called it dried pollack soup.’
Its soft, refreshing depth evoked the sea.
The umami flavor clinging to his palate, along with its warmth, soothed him to his core.
‘Maybe I can recover after all.’
Taste, smell—and even the slowly returning sense of touch.
Though the Alubi Fruit suppresses madness, it’s closer to a poison.
He took it despite knowing this because there was no other option.
But if this poison could be neutralized, that changed everything.
“Mikhail, is there any imperial bloodline living near the tower?”
“Ah, yes. I believe discarded princes reside in the cold palace.”
Mikhail nodded as he answered. Immediately, he realized trouble must have occurred there.
He was about to conclude they should send someone to deal with the likely corpse—
But Kashar’s words were entirely unexpected.
“Look into the wet nurse there.”
“May I ask the reason?”
“I owe her a debt. I’d like to send her a gift in return.”
Kashar’s eyes curled gently at the corners.
His expression resembled the smile he wore just before drawing his blade to slaughter enemies.
“I’ll make the arrangements.”
It seemed best not to ask further.
Mikhail accepted the order.
[This is the timeline separator]“Lady Aileen, it’s started again!”
“…Again today?”
At Emma’s call, I splashed some water on my face.
Ever since Kashar left, gifts had been pouring like rain into the cold palace—once utterly ignored by everyone.

…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

The premise seemed interesting enough but unfortunately the way it’s written is very poor. Idk if it’s the way the writer writes or a translation error but it’s just not smooth. Something about the writing feels disjointed
