Delia frowned at Aaron’s soft voice whispering into her ear.
The gentler he became, the harsher Delia grew—
as if trying to shake off his lethal temptation.

“Why not? What’s wrong with us?”
“We’re enemies. I have to kill you and escape, and you have to capture and use me.”
Delia’s voice, spoken while lying facedown, seeped into the tent.

“But even enemies can ask how each other is and invite one another to eat, can’t they?”
Delia swiftly rolled over from her prone position, lying flat on her back and looking straight up at Aaron.
Her bruised body tensed as it met the bed, her brow furrowing in pain.
Seeing the commander gazing down at her with a faint smile on his lips, her mood automatically darkened.
Delia pulled the rumpled blanket up to cover herself and coldly retorted,
“That’s your misconception. Just because a cat pretends to worry about a mouse doesn’t mean the mouse feels grateful.”
