A few days later, Asiel delivered some news that left both of them utterly astonished.

“The Arbon household invited you to stay with them for a few days?”

Blair asked in surprise, her eyes wide open, while Herdin paused mid-sip of his wine glass.

And no wonder—he had never left his parents’ side until now.

“Yes. We decided to play at their country villa.”

“Did your parents give their permission?”

“Of course!”

Asiel immediately handed his father a brief letter from Count Arbon, as if he’d been waiting for it. It was the official invitation Jamie and Senica had wrangled from their father.

Herdin, glancing alternately between the invitation from Count Arbon and his son’s eager eyes, finally agreed to let his son spend his first night away from home.

“At that age, playing with friends is always more fun, after all.”

But Blair still seemed reluctant, even after reading the count’s invitation.

“Hmm… I’m just a bit worried we might be imposing. And I’m also concerned about sending Asiel off alone…”

“Well, if that’s the case, why not invite those children to our house next time?”

Fearing his grand plan might collapse, Asiel quickly chimed in agreement with Herdin’s suggestion.

“Exactly! Next time, I’ll bring them to our house. And I promise I’ll behave well and play nicely without any mischief.”
