Sunlight slipping through the curtains settled on Lisi’s face.
Lisi opened her eyes and stared at the unfamiliar ceiling.
‘Where am I?’
The answer came quickly.
Count Kaelbrant Green’s bedroom.
Now the bedroom of Count and Countess Green.
Though the spot where Kai had lain was empty, his scent lingered clearly.
– You’ll have sweet dreams.
The voice she’d heard as if in a dream came back to her. True to his words, she must have had a good dream.
Lisi slowly rose from the bed and walked toward the window.
The moment she parted the curtains, piercing sunlight rushed straight into her eyes. Frowning slightly, she opened the window, and a gust of warm air pushed its way in.
‘Perfect weather for sherbet.’
As she thought this and lowered her gaze, the Green estate’s garden came into view.
Though the Green family, guardians of the holy relic, held high honor, they weren’t wealthy. Thus, she hadn’t expected much—but the garden, though not large, was well-kept and quite lovely.
Lisi imagined herself stepping out with a parasol and sitting on the bench before the fountain in the garden, enjoying sherbet.
A modest yet joyful daily life she could never have experienced in her past life.
Even after leaving the Wittelo family and becoming Viscountess Fuchs, she’d never been able to enjoy such ordinary pleasures.
In her past life, Iris, Viscountess Fuchs, had been nothing more than an ornament and toy meant to make Alford shine.
While she was lost in memories of that unhappy life, she spotted two men walking side by side across the garden.
She recognized the broad-shouldered man with deep gray hair as Wallace, whom she’d met yesterday, but the slender man beside him was unfamiliar.
He had golden hair long enough to reach his shoulders, tied neatly back.
Just then, Wallace noticed Lisi, grinned broadly, and waved enthusiastically, then pointed at her with his index finger while saying something to the blond man.
The blond man, turning his head absentmindedly toward Lisi, flinched in surprise and forcefully pulled Wallace’s pointing finger down.
“Aaagh! That hurts, Jamie!”
Wallace’s shout carried all the way to Lisi’s ears.
Despite Wallace’s fierce glare, the man called Jamie paid no heed and bowed respectfully toward Lisi.
A short while later, the two knocked on Lisi’s door.
Lisi suddenly realized she was still wearing Kai’s oversized robe.
She glanced around the room, wondering if she could at least change into the clothes she’d originally worn, but they were nowhere to be found—perhaps sent for washing.
With no choice, she tightened the robe and opened the door.
“Sister-in-law, did you sleep well?”
Wallace asked cheerfully.
“Thanks to you.”
At Lisi’s reply, Wallace turned to Jamie.
“Did you hear that? She said it’s thanks to me. My credit.”
Jamie ignored Wallace entirely and kept his steady gaze fixed on Lisi.
Now that she looked closely, Jamie had an exceptionally neat and delicate appearance.
His fair skin, slightly downturned eyes, and strikingly blue irises made a strong impression.
A faint smile played at the corners of Jamie’s lips.
After a moment, Jamie bowed slightly, offering a polite greeting before speaking.
“Forgive my impertinence, Countess—but I hadn’t heard from the Captain in advance that you were coming, so I didn’t even know to greet you yesterday.”
“Sister-in-law, this guy here was really upset because only he didn’t know you were coming. He kept pestering the Captain all night long… Don’t let his gentle smile fool you—he’s actually incredibly petty…”
Thud-!
Jamie sharply jabbed Wallace’s solar plexus with his elbow, cutting off his chatter.
Slender as he was, Jamie clearly packed a surprising amount of strength—Wallace coughed dryly and stumbled backward.
“You seriously tried to kill me just now, didn’t you?”
Wallace protested, but once again Jamie ignored him and addressed Lisi.
“Please forgive the discourtesy of only greeting you now, Countess.”
“Forgive? You haven’t done anything wrong. It was a sudden marriage, after all.”
“My name is Jamie. I serve as the steward of this mansion. From now on, if there’s anything you need, Countess, please let me know.”
“Well then… could you start by changing that ‘Countess’ title?”
“The title?”
Judging by Jamie’s attitude toward Wallace, Jamie clearly shared a close bond with Kai as well.
“You can just call me by name.”
“Oh, then I’ll also…”
Thud-!
Jamie wordlessly struck Wallace’s side, cutting him off mid-sentence.
“I could never presume to address you by name so casually. If the title ‘Countess’ feels burdensome, I shall call you Lady Iris instead.”
“Alright.”
“Is there anything else you require?”
“I need clothes.”
“I’ll summon a tailor.”
“No, I need something to wear right now. Yesterday, I noticed someone named Nathan seemed to have a similar build to mine…”
“Nathan might look like a girl, sister-in-law, but he really is a man.”
Wallace explained.
“It’s fine. In my own house, who’s going to say anything about what I wear? Comfort is all that matters.”
At Lisi’s reply, Wallace grinned.
“Exactly! Comfort is all that matters. I’ll go grab all of Nathan’s clothes right now!”
Before Lisi could even say one outfit would be enough, Wallace dashed off.
“He won’t actually take all of Nathan’s clothes, will he?”
“He absolutely will, Lady Iris. Wallace is the kind of fool who does exactly what he says he’ll do.”
“I’ll feel bad for Nathan.”
“It’s alright. Who would dare question anything Lady Iris chooses to do? Is there anything else you need?”
“I need sherbet. And a parasol.”
“I’ll prepare them.”
Jamie didn’t ask why she needed those things.
When Lisi quietly stared at him, Jamie tilted his head slightly.
A few strands of golden hair slipped down, brushing across his finely shaped face.
“Is there something you’d like to say?”
“How freely can I act in this house?”
Jamie smiled.
“You just called it ‘my house,’ Lady Iris. What you may or may not do in your own house is entirely your decision.”

Wallace really had brought all of Nathan’s clothes.
Lisi couldn’t help but laugh, imagining Nathan’s expression as Wallace barged into his room, opened the wardrobe, and started collecting clothes.
Lisi picked through the pile Wallace had dumped onto the sofa, selecting an outfit piece by piece.
She chose straight black trousers that hugged her legs, a white shirt with wide sleeves, and a dark brown leather vest.
It was a style she’d never worn in her past life.
Though Nathan was slight for a man, he was still a man.
His clothes were a bit large on Lisi, but still better than wearing Kai’s oversized robe.
After checking her reflection in the mirror, Lisi stepped out of the room, her long hair swaying softly.
Jamie waited by the front door, holding a parasol and a glass dish of sherbet.
His eyes widened at the sight of her, then narrowed with delight.
“You look splendid, Lady Iris.”
“Thank you.”
“Shall I give you a tour of the garden?”
“No, I’ll be fine on my own.”
Lisi walked down the garden’s gravel path, carrying the parasol and the glass dish of sherbet.
The crisp crunching sound beneath her feet was pleasant to hear.
Finally reaching the central fountain, Lisi sat on the bench and opened her parasol.
She’d planned to elegantly enjoy her sherbet in the shade, but holding the parasol in one hand and the glass dish in the other left her no hand free for the spoon.
No matter how she tried, it just wouldn’t work out—so she finally gave up on the parasol.
So what if her face got a little sun?
Lisi set the parasol aside and picked up the spoon.
The sherbet, made with lemon juice and honey, was sweet, tart, and refreshingly cool.
As she savored it, a shadow fell over her head.
Someone had picked up the parasol beside her and held it over her.
She turned to see Kai.
“I heard you met Jamie, Lisi.”
“He’s very polite.”
“Hmm?”
Kai tilted his head, looking puzzled, and sat down beside her.
“Sherbet already this early in the morning?”
“It’s hot.”
“Is it good?”
“Want to try some?”
Lisi scooped a spoonful and held it before Kai’s lips.
Kai’s eyes gleamed mischievously.
“Rather than eating it like that…”
His face suddenly moved closer to hers.
“I’d rather have you feed it to me with those lovely lips.”
Last night, she might have been flustered—perhaps even startled enough to jerk backward.
But now, Lisi understood Kai’s nature.
So instead of blushing and pulling away, she dropped the spoon and grabbed the back of his head, pulling him toward her.
Caught off guard, Kai’s head gave in easily to her slight pull.
In an instant, their lips met.
While Kai remained frozen in surprise at the unexpected turn of events, Lisi parted her lips.
The sweet-and-sour liquid lingering in her mouth flowed into his.
Even after Lisi pulled away, having accomplished her goal, Kai remained still, eyes wide.
It was delightful to see the man who’d teased her all day yesterday now caught completely off guard.
Lisi gently wiped his lips with her thumb and asked,
“How was it? Tasty?”
Only then did his eyes soften.
He burst into laughter.
“It’s sweet, Lisi. Incredibly sweet.”
“I’m glad.”
Lisi smiled and reached to pick up the spoon that had fallen to the ground, but his hand covered hers.
Kai gently enclosed her hand in his, lifted it, and turned her to face him.
“So these are Nathan’s clothes.”
“I had nothing else to wear. And I didn’t want to put on a maid’s outfit.”
“You could’ve worn my clothes.”
“Yours are too big.”
“And you’re too small.”
Remembering last night’s conversation, Lisi gave a faint smile—but Kai didn’t smile back.
“It’s not particularly pleasant for me to see my wife wearing another man’s clothes.”
“Oh? I didn’t know Count Green was capable of jealousy.”
“Neither did I, Lisi. But do you know this?”
His lips brushed past hers and lingered near her ear.
He bit her earlobe gently—not painfully.
In that instant, a sweet shiver ran down her spine.
“A wolf keeps only one female by his side for life, Lisi.”
His voice seeped into her, mingling with the strange sensation that spread all the way to her toes.
His rich voice, trailing down her earlobe, seemed to caress her entire body.
“So the only male who should leave his scent on you is me.”
