The Beast Swallowed by the Flower (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 6
Only Lisi filled his deep, clear eyes entirely.
She felt as if she might lose herself in his gaze.
His hot breath touched the tip of Lisi’s nose.
Afraid her own breath might brush against his nose, she held her breath and stared at him.
A ripple stirred near her heart—spreading gently, softly stimulating her heart.
In her past life, a man’s gaze had only ever meant fear and disgust to Lisi.
Thus, Lisi was bewildered by this strange feeling she experienced as she met his steel-blue eyes.
“Haa.”
She exhaled unconsciously.
Her breath, slipping through her flushed, damp lips, seemed to tickle his lips nearby, causing his thin lips to twitch slightly.
They were so close that warmth passed between them even without their lips touching.
Lisi wanted to pull away from his blood-red lips that seemed ready to pounce on her at any moment, yet she stood straight and fixed her gaze on him as she spoke.
“Aren’t I too big to swallow in one gulp?”
His eyes narrowed.
“We’ll have to see about that.”
His low voice carried a breath that brushed against Lisi’s lips.
Lisi slowly closed her eyes, then opened them again.
She had resolved to do anything for this new life, this fresh start.
Sleeping with Kaelbrant Green, who had given her such a good opportunity, wasn’t anything extraordinary.
Through her thick lashes, she saw his face, seemingly waiting for her answer.
His straight forehead and dark eyebrows, slightly upturned at the tips.
His deeply set eyes shone quietly, as if testing Lisi.
At last, Lisi parted her lips.
“Then, as you wish.”
The moment her answer ended, his strong arm wrapped around Lisi’s slender waist and pulled her close.
Lisi’s body pressed tightly against his.
His heat seeped through the thin robe.
With one arm still around her waist, he laid her down on the bed.
Her long, blushing silver hair spilled across the bed like scattered petals.
Lisi felt the soft mattress against her back and his firm body against her front.
The large robe draped over her body parted, revealing her round, slender shoulders.
He lowered his head and kissed her shoulder.
Startled by the hot press of his lips, like a brand, Lisi tensed.
Kai gently caught her wrist as she raised it unconsciously.
His large hand held her delicate wrist, pressing it softly down beside her face.
His lips, lingering on her shoulder, traveled up along her collarbone and stopped at her neck.
At the moment his hot breath flowed down her neck like a shackle, Lisi recalled her past life.
In her past life, the crushing weight of Alford upon her.
Lisi swallowed a scream.
‘I must endure.’
She squeezed her eyes shut tightly, then snapped them open again.
She had to fully accept this situation.
Closing her eyes and fleeing was enough for the foolish, weak Iris Fuchs of her past life.
The Iris Green of this life must never shut her eyes before any fear.
Thus, Lisi suppressed her terror, gritted her teeth, and glared at the ceiling.
She didn’t even notice his breath, which had been caressing her neck, had drawn away.
“You’re quite the stone woman, Lisi.”
Only when his quiet voice reached her did Lisi manage to move her eyes.
His face, which had been near her neck, had now risen to meet hers.
“Whether a woman becomes stone or a blooming flower in bed depends on the man, doesn’t it?”

Kai looked down at Lisi silently.
Perhaps Kai was angry. Blaming a man in bed was an outright assault on his pride.
But Lisi had no intention of retracting her words.
If his pride was wounded by this, Kai would likely do one of two things.
Either take her by force in his anger, or never touch her again out of wounded pride.
Either outcome was fine with her.
Kai gently brushed his thumb along the corner of Lisi’s eye.
His touch was so tender that Lisi was slightly surprised.
She had expected him to be angry.
Kai carefully adjusted Lisi’s tousled hair on the bed and quietly lay down beside her.
Lisi turned her head toward Kai.
“Is that it, then?”
At Lisi’s question, Kai turned his head to face her.
“I prefer to eat when it’s hot.”
“Oh dear, how finicky of you. But what shall we do? I don’t heat up easily.”
“Well, we’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we, Lisi?”
His voice, calm and pleasant to hear.
The tension left her shoulders. As soon as she closed her eyes, exhaustion overwhelmed her.
So much had happened today.
She felt him carefully fastening her robe, but a heavy drowsiness pressed down on her so strongly she couldn’t even move her hand.
“Sleep now, Lisi.”
As she drifted into unconsciousness, his voice reached her.
“You’ll have sweet dreams.”
Well, would she really?
Lisi had never once had a good dream.
Yet she thought his voice, kind as it was, sounded nice to hear before falling asleep.

Listening to Lisi’s even breathing, Kai quietly slipped out of bed.
After the previous Count Green had retired and handed everything over to Kai, Kai had many duties to manage as head of the family.
Naturally, he’d had no time to spare for women and had assumed it would remain that way.
But still…
‘What a curious woman.’
Kai stood beside the bed and watched Lisi for a moment.
Rumors about Iris, the jewel of the Wittelo family, had reached even Kai’s ears—despite his indifference to women.
They said Iris of House Wittelo was so exquisitely beautiful that Duke Wittelo cherished her dearly and never let anyone see her.
They claimed that if Iris even got a tiny cut on her fingertip, Duke Wittelo would tear up.
But there were other rumors, too.
That Iris of House Wittelo was actually born to a maidservant.
That Iris was treated worse than a servant in the Wittelo household.
Those rumors were faint and dismissed as baseless gossip spread by those who delighted in tearing others down.
‘Now it seems that baseless gossip might not have been so baseless after all.’
Lisi was a peculiar woman.
She seemed arrogant and strong, yet fragile enough to crumble at any moment. At times, her eyes held the desperate, tenacious look of a weed that had clawed its way through hellfire to survive.
There was something about Lisi that no gently raised noble lady could ever possess. These distinctions from an ordinary woman kept drawing Kai in.
He’d laid Lisi on the bed because he’d wanted to know how it would feel to hold her, how she’d react.
Lisi had responded differently than Kai expected.
Though she maintained her haughty expression, Kai, sensitive to others’ feelings, could tell she was terrified.
“What frightens you so, Iris?”
Kai pulled the blanket up and covered Lisi.
“Surely Duke Wittelo hasn’t done something terrible to you?”

The greedy face of Duke Gloven Wittelo flashed in his mind.
“If he has, I’ll show that bastard hell myself.”
He owed Lisi no such loyalty. She was merely an ally who’d approached him with a deal to exploit his weakness.
This marriage, too, was purely for mutual benefit.
Yet Kai found himself drawn to Lisi.
Both the proud strength flowing through her entire being and the sorrowful vulnerability that occasionally slipped through.
Her unwitting shyness and the rare, pleased smiles she showed.
Affection doesn’t always take the form of romantic love between a man and a woman. There is also affection born between allies.
Though he’d married Lisi for political reasons, he had no intention of treating her poorly.
Whatever the reason for this marriage, Lisi was now Countess Green.
“Now you are the flower of House Green, Iris. So…”
Feel free to bloom in peace.
Everything in House Green will move for your sake.
As Kai walked down the corridor after leaving the room, someone fell into step beside him.
It was Gillette Merdi, his personal maid.
Gillette was the daughter of Viscount Merdi and had served as Kai’s maid for the past three years.
“My lord, shall I bring you tea?”
“No. I don’t need any. Go rest.”
Kai spoke coldly and headed toward his study.
His subordinates would surely be waiting for him there.
Gillette followed behind him.
Kai stopped and turned to face her.
“Do you have something to say to me?”
“Yes, um…”
Gillette hesitated, then lifted her head to look at Kai.
“Are you really… getting married?”
“It’s not that I’m getting married—I already have.”
“But the ceremony…”
“Is that really necessary?”
“Oh…”
For some reason, Gillette’s expression brightened slightly.
“So it’s a political marriage. I was wondering what had happened—it all seemed so sudden…”
“Is that all you wanted to say?”
“Well… about the lady—she’s from House Wittelo…”
“If you’re going to speak about my marriage, stop right there.”
Kai spoke coldly, turned sharply, and walked into his study.
Gillette didn’t follow him any further.
She stood still, watching Kai’s dependable back disappear down the hall, then let out a deep sigh.
Kaelbrant Green.
Ever since she first saw him as a child, she’d admired him endlessly. She’d begged her father until she managed to become a maid in Count Green’s household to serve Kai.
It was common for unmarried nobles’ maids to catch their master’s eye, fall in love, and eventually marry.
Gillette had been certain Kai would one day take an interest in her. She’d been praised for her beauty since childhood and had no shortage of marriage proposals.
Yet three years had passed since she began serving Kai like his own limbs.
Kai had never shown her the slightest interest.
But since he didn’t seem involved with other women either, she’d believed he was just too busy and that someday his gaze would turn to her.
Then suddenly, she heard the news that Kai had married Iris, the jewel of House Wittelo.
Iris, rumored to rival even elves in beauty.
She’d heard countless men were desperate to marry her, but never in her dreams had she imagined Kai would be one of them.
“But it wasn’t like that. It’s just a political marriage.”
As proof, Kai hadn’t even held a wedding ceremony.

Even political marriages usually included a grand ceremony, yet Kai seemed unwilling to do even that much for Iris.
The dark cloud that had hung over her since hearing of Kai’s marriage lifted.
Gillette smiled faintly and turned away.
When yandere male lead believes she loves him — but she never did
“How dare you!”
“How dare you make me love you, only to cast me aside as nothing more than a friend?!?
“I will never accept that.”
“I will never let you return to him.”
“Even if I have to burn myself to ashes.”
“Even if I must shatter my purity, my dignity, my very soul.”
“I will never let you escape me!”

This was the first novel that introduced me to the matriarchal genre. I’ve read it three times already!
At first, the male lead despised the female lead. Later, he misunderstood that she liked him, so he condescendingly and reluctantly reciprocated her feelings.
Then, he suddenly discovered that she was kind to everyone in the same way, and there was already someone she cherished in her heart, and that person was not him.
The male lead couldn’t believe it, he became angry and crazy. He was determined to capture her body and heart by any means necessary.
Synopsis:

Want to see how he flirtatiously pursues the female lead?
Want to see how he gets slapped in the face repeatedly?
