The Bad Husband (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 17
Time truly flew by. In the week since the formal engagement meeting, Tae Eun hadn’t seen Woo Jin’s face once. Of course, she understood perfectly well—he was a busy man. Instead, he frequently sent her messages in the evenings.
It felt just like dating a busy man.
Admittedly, she’d never actually experienced what real dating was like, but that’s simply how it felt to her. Her heart fluttered as though a butterfly had flown in and started beating its wings, stirring a warm, prickling sensation that kept bubbling up unexpectedly.
Amid all this, Tae Eun calmly set about organizing her life.
First, she needed to quit her part-time job. Ideally, she’d keep working even after marriage, but realistically, she planned to start fresh from scratch. Her past part-time jobs had been chosen out of necessity—solely because she had to care for her grandmother.
Calmly writing down her to-do list in her diary, her phone suddenly vibrated.
[Are you home?]
It was a message from Woo Jin.
[Yes.]
[Then come down? I’m right downstairs.]
Tae Eun blinked in surprise. She was startled that he’d shown up unannounced like this—but even more overwhelming was the unfamiliar emotion surging through her at the thought of seeing him. It was a feeling she’d never experienced before, so strange it almost felt foreign.
[I’ll come down.]
Tae Eun quickly got dressed and headed downstairs. Ji Eun shot her a disapproving glance as she left so late in the evening, but lately she’d clearly been trying to hold back her usual nagging. After all, with the grandmother—their only leverage—about to slip away, Ji Eun couldn’t afford to mistreat Tae Eun, who was now set to marry into the Woo Sung family. Her reluctant, bitter endurance was obvious.
Receiving Ji Eun’s sharp stare, Tae Eun stepped outside and spotted the familiar car, quickly getting in. The moment she did, Woo Jin’s presence washed over her with a heavy, palpable weight she hadn’t felt in a long time.
“Has it really only been a week?”
