Da Jung bit down hard on the tender flesh inside her cheek. A surge of intense anger rose within her, accompanied by an overwhelmingly complex and distressed feeling.

Having lived her life thus far with no reason to feel ashamed or less than dignified, it felt unjust to even experience such emotions now.

She had never even felt intimidated when someone pointed fingers at her for being an unmarried mother.

Yet fabricating a husband where none existed was equally unthinkable—it was something Da Jung’s pride simply wouldn’t allow.

Still trapped, unable to act either way, she clenched her fists in frustration—when suddenly Jung Ae, who had thus far sat quietly and properly in her seat, abruptly rose.

“Oh, here! Stuff this down your gullet, you damn wretch!”

Without delay, Jung Ae seized the cold noodle bowl and hurled its contents straight at the man, her coarse curse slicing through the air.

Startled by the surprise attack, the man flailed his arms wildly, but by then the broth and bloated noodles had already drenched his face and soaked through his chest.

One of her grandson’s sneakers, well-marinated in the cold noodle broth, even struck the man squarely on the nose before rolling off to the floor.
