Large flowerpots densely lined both the inside and outside of the window connected to the terrace. Evergreen and deciduous trees alike displayed fresh, vibrant green leaves.

The garden, as vast as a soccer field, was filled with a pond and various trees; seeing even the interior of the house decorated with potted plants suggested an extraordinary fondness for flora.

Da Jung, awkwardly staring at the classic pattern on the couch, pulled down the wrinkled sleeves of her shirt.

Sitting inside this grand mansion, her outfit—fit for stepping out to the convenience store across the street—suddenly felt shabby, and it bothered her.

Slurp. The sound of tea being sipped heightened the tension. The white-haired elder had remained silent, sipping tea without a word, ever since first meeting Da Jung.

Skipping greetings entirely, Chairwoman Park’s opening question was this:

And because she had a grandson named Cha Jung Hyeok, she inevitably became Si Woo’s great-grandmother as well.

Da Jung tightly gripped her trembling knees with both hands.

The oppressive aura emanating from the elder before her surpassed imagination. Despite the gentle face she faced, Da Jung inexplicably felt her spine stiffen.
