Ariadne’s budget of 150 ducats (approximately 150 million won) had to cover her personal attire and all preparations for the debutante ball held on the day itself.

This included food, beverages, interior decorations, the orchestra, the program schedule, and event arrangements. Ariadne first checked all the household items available at home.

“The usable things are the family crest, furniture, and the wines stored in the underground cellar… That’s about it.”

Sancha replied,

“We should also be able to use the kitchen staff. Surely Lady Lucrezia wouldn’t forbid even that. Although she might not allow us to use the household’s food ingredients.”

“She’s always beyond expectations, but Father’s watching. We’ll just buy ingredients from outside anyway—it’s not like we could prepare everything with what’s already in the house. The only unavoidable expense is the orchestra.”

“Huh? Miss? Aren’t you going to commission new tapestries?”

In 1122, when hosting a ball in San Carlo, it was customary to select a specific theme and unify the entire hall’s ambiance by matching fabrics for banister covers, chair covers, tablecloths, and so on accordingly.

Additionally, embroidered tapestries evoking the ball’s theme were specially commissioned and hung on the walls as decorations.

“We already have the family crest, but we still need party-specific tapestries. And time is tight—any skilled embroidery ateliers in town are probably fully booked by now.”

For a victory celebration ball, the central battle would be depicted; for a royal birth celebration, the guardian saint’s origin myth associated with that royal would be embroidered and displayed.

The greater the number and intricacy of these embroidered tapestries, the more effort the host was seen to have invested; for lavish balls, it was common to spend one to two years on embroidery alone, costing 200–300 ducats (approximately 200–300 million won).

“Come here.”

Ariadne pulled Sancha close and whispered a few instructions into her ear.

“What do you think? Can you handle it?”

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away

This is also on my reread list!

This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.

Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.

But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.

Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.

I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.

The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.

As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
