Saved Him, Now I'm Obsessed (10 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 67
How many people get to visit their own grave in person? Still, having seen people mourning me, it didn’t seem entirely strange to go visit my own tomb.
But Ian gave an awkward smile and stopped me from going to see my grave.
“There’s no real need to go. Jane is alive right here….”
Seeing his discomfort, I guessed my corpse must have been in pretty terrible condition. Still, I hadn’t even asked to see the body—was it really so hard just to tell me where the burial site was?
Was I buried in the communal cemetery for those without relatives? Or had Ian collected my remains himself and buried me elsewhere?
Either way, Ian clearly didn’t want to talk about it at all. Just then, the gravedigger came out of the house, cutting our conversation short.
“There you all are. You’re important guests, yet I haven’t properly welcomed you… Would you like to come inside for some tea?”
“No, thank you. We were just admiring the scenery outside. Has she woken up yet?”
At my question, the gravedigger nodded and looked around the graveyard as he spoke.
“Once my child wakes up, I’ll pull out every last one of those vile flowers and burn them all. I’ll make sure they never take root here again….”
His voice was filled with anger—though it felt less directed at the flowers and more at himself.
“She probably would’ve been fine otherwise. My daughter grew up here, so she must’ve had some immunity to the pollen itself. But since she drank it steeped as tea, it must’ve hit her hard. And being confined in a small room full of those blossoms while unconscious kept her constantly exposed to the pollen….”
My words seemed to deepen the guilt in his expression. I quickly added something to ease his mind.
“She’ll be fine as soon as she wakes up. And as long as she doesn’t boil the flowers in hot water again, she won’t fall into such a deep sleep. Just admiring the flowers outside or bringing one or two indoors as decoration won’t cause it to happen again, so don’t worry. After all, they’re quite lovely as ornamental flowers.”
“It wouldn’t even matter if you said that nothing like this would ever happen again! Just seeing those damn flowers… brings back all those painful days when I feared my daughter might be buried somewhere far away before me….”
