At Arabella’s question, the Emperor twisted his face slightly exaggeratedly before answering.
The moment Arabella entered the Emperor’s bedroom, her body sprang into action. She helped the Emperor sit upright against the headboard, then hurried into the adjoining bathroom to fetch a basin of water and gently clean the wound on his shoulder.
She diligently ground the herbs she had brought, carefully applied them to the torn area, and didn’t forget to blow softly on it with little “ho, ho” breaths.
Each time her breath tickled his skin, the Emperor’s long Adam’s apple bobbed noticeably—but Arabella, attributing it to pain, only blew harder.
Yet, so absorbed was she in tending to the Emperor’s injury that she failed to notice two things: first, the chest wound he claimed to have sustained while riding seemed perfectly fine; second, every time her hands brushed against him, his broad pectoral muscles would swell and recede repeatedly.
In truth, had it been the usual Arabella, she wouldn’t have even dared meet the Emperor’s eyes upon exiting the bathroom—there he sat, leaning against the headboard, tunic removed, waiting for her.
Arabella carefully treated the Emperor’s wounds as if mending an injured beast. Watching the top of her small, diligently working head, the Emperor’s lips curved softly upward at both corners.
But soon, to suppress the growing tension below his navel, he had to clench his molars firmly. Frankly, that discomfort had started the moment he’d lifted Arabella onto the horse to bring her here.
Only after wrapping the wounded area securely with clean cotton cloth did Arabella let out a sigh of relief.
The moment her gentle hands withdrew, the Emperor’s brows furrowed. Without realizing it, he reached out and firmly grasped Arabella’s wrist, pulling her back.
“Is something wrong? Are you uncomfortable?”
Arabella’s large eyes widened further as she asked, and the Emperor weakly nodded.
“I think I’m more injured than I’d thought. I might even have internal injuries.”

I’ve been wondering just how he intends to keep her alive and unharmed enough to even attempt lifting the curse. I don’t believe these classes will be enough if she only had four days.
Is she not concerned because the emperor told her she wasn’t going to become the empress regardless? He explicitly stated she only needed to break his curse & that she wouldn’t become the empress as she wasn’t qualified (I don’t recall his precise wording).
