Picked Up a Beast, Turns Out He's an Emperor (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 21
The Lotus Pavilion within Heltherd Imperial Palace, where the ten empress candidates resided. Bedroom of the 11th Pavilion.
“What is this?”
Head Maid Nora showed her finger—lightly brushed across the top of the wardrobe—to the maids standing before her.
Three young women hastily glanced at each other, swallowing hard. Truthfully, it was just a barely visible speck of dust, noticeable only with utmost scrutiny. Yet none dared utter a word before the exacting Head Maid.
“Have you forgotten that cleaning must be done twice daily—once in the morning and once in the evening?”
“N-no! We definitely cleaned thoroughly both this morning and this evening.”
One of the maids bravely answered Head Maid Bridgette’s question.
The Head Maid seized the chin of the oldest-looking among the three who had replied and spoke coldly.
“I’ll ask once more. Did you clean this bedroom this evening? If your lie is exposed, you’ll be banished from the palace.”
Millie clenched her eyes tightly and nodded, but the other two maids beside her immediately dropped to their knees and confessed in panic.
“We’re sorry, Head Maid! Since this is an unoccupied chamber the young lady hasn’t used yet, and we cleaned it so thoroughly this morning that it still looked pristine… please, forgive us!”
Betrayed by her fellow maids, Millie’s face turned deathly pale—but no plea for mercy escaped her tightly bitten lips.
“What should we do?”
At Loren’s question—she who oversaw all the empress candidates’ quarters—the Head Maid released Millie’s chin and stated curtly,
“Dismiss them immediately.”

My Step-brother Is Obsessed With Me (Female-dominant)
A gentle female protagonist vs pitiful in the early stage, and a sick male protagonist in the later stage
Cheng Songer transmigrated into the body of a vicious cannon fodder female supporting character with the same name as her in a female-dominant novel.
In the original story, the cannon fodder female supporting character was inhumane, committing domestic violence, gambling excessively, being lustful, and even wanting to sell her stepbrother to a brothel for money.
As luck would have it, she just happened to transmigrate at this time.
Seeing Cheng Qingzhi biting his lip, enduring the tears in his eyes, looking pitiful, her heart softened.
She stuffed the money back into the Madam’s hand and reached out to him.
“Brother, come home with me.”

Aelthia Chapter 22I’ve been wondering just how he intends to keep her alive and unharmed enough to even attempt lifting the curse. I don’t believe these classes will be enough if she only had four days.
Aelthia Chapter 26Is she not concerned because the emperor told her she wasn’t going to become the empress regardless? He explicitly stated she only needed to break his curse & that she wouldn’t become the empress as she wasn’t qualified (I don’t recall his precise wording).
Aelthia Chapter 30The Emperor’s shamelessness continues to astonish me. Just how long can he get away with this?

Placing her in the empress competition as one selected by him immediately marks her as a prime target. He understands her character and temperament yet did this regardless. Now it sounds as if he is confining her and throwing her to the wolves. Yet he still needs her to lift his curse, so she must not only survive but also remain in the palace long enough to lift the curse. Was there truly no other way for an emperor to bring a healer (even if not a mistress but a healer) into the palace? This plan seems so reckless.

If this is how things are done in this empire I imagine there are a lot of mistresses and illegitimate offspring from the emperor

I’m not yet convinced this is a curse. There are a lot of questionable events. Why would a black panther kidnap a princess?
