When Se Ji was imprisoned for embezzlement, Jeong Ri instantly realized she had lost her job. Heading to Tae In’s office to collect her belongings, she ran into Young Won, who had been waiting for her.

Young Won scratched the back of his head with an apologetic expression, apparently about to deliver difficult news.

“We’ve decided to move over to Tae Gang.”

The brand Tae In had created had been on a steady upward trajectory since its successful launch. Jeong Ri had heard that it would be absorbed into Tae Gang Properties—the company Tae In had worked for before losing her memory—and managed directly by her. Naturally, it made sense that Tae In would bring along the twins who had supported her during tough times.

“You’ve worked hard.”

It was also only natural that Jeong Ri, having been a spy all along, would be let go.

“Yes, thank you.”

Young Won handed Jeong Ri an envelope left behind by Tae In. Jeong Ri let out a bitter sigh and accepted it.

She had no reason to refuse it. It would have been laughable to suddenly rediscover her conscience now, after betraying Tae In under the guise of protecting her family and even stabbing her in the back.

Jeong Ri quickly packed up her things. There wasn’t much to take—she hadn’t brought any personal items. All she had were notebooks, pens, and sample bags and wallets Tae In had given to all staff members.

After hesitating briefly, Jeong Ri stuffed everything into a large box. Truthfully, during the few weeks she’d acted as a spy, she’d genuinely felt like a real member of the company.

There had even been times when she’d shielded Tae In from Se Ji’s reports with outright lies.

After company dinners, when she’d return slightly tipsy to her cramped gosiwon room, she’d often wished she could truly be one of Tae In’s employees.

Now it all seemed pointless, and Jeong Ri forced a bitter smile. Regret was a luxury. She needed to survive—so her priority now was securing a new job and settling in quickly.

Once her belongings were packed, Jeong Ri said goodbye to Young Won and Hee Won and left the office.
