My Husband Fell in Love - Chapter 8
It was an even greater shock than the moment I first discovered the affair. I simply couldn’t believe this was reality—that my husband was holding another woman’s hand and spouting nonsense like, “My love becoming your wrongdoing is just so unfair.”
“Lee Seung Oh. You’re about to get caught cheating and dumped. Can’t you even grasp what’s happening?”
“So you choose, Yoon Seo Ha. Do you really want a divorce, or do you want to stay married and live as a couple moving forward?”
They’d been friends and lovers since childhood. That’s why Lee Seung Oh knew, all too well, just how much Yoon Seo Ha loved him.
That was the root of his filthy arrogance.
“If you’re going to talk about staying married, at least let go of that hand first before speaking.”
“No. I can’t let go of this hand.”
Knowing full well that Seo Ha wouldn’t abandon him, Lee Seung Oh instead gripped Ji Soo’s hand even tighter.
“You’ve got so much, Seo Ha. Ji Soo has only me. Whether we divorce or not, I’ll love and protect Ji Soo until the very end.”
“Oppa….”
Touched, Lee Ji Soo’s eyes welled with tears as she gently leaned her head against Seung Oh. Or was that a smug, triumphant smirk playing at the corners of her lips?
Seo Ha felt her mind go completely blank. All that remained was utter despair, plunging her to rock bottom—the confidence she’d held just moments ago had vanished without a trace. The memories of their life together and the love they’d shared now sliced through her heart like a rusted saw.
“Wait, honey. Just hear me out—”
It was at that exact moment—when Seo Ha, half out of her mind, was about to speak—that someone familiar appeared behind the ill-fated lovers Lee Seung Oh and Lee Ji Soo.
‘Secretary Ryu?’
No matter how many times she blinked, it was unmistakably Ryu Kyung Joon. He sat alone on the sofa, legs crossed, staring directly at them—then, catching Seo Ha’s gaze, he gave a faint, mocking smile.
Like a bucket of cold water dousing her head, Seo Ha’s senses snapped back instantly. She’d rather strap a yellow rubber band around her waist and bungee-jump off the 63 Building than let Ryu Kyung Joon witness her groveling pathetically before Lee Seung Oh.
“Hear you out about what?”
Seung Oh pressed her. Seo Ha tore her eyes away from Kyung Joon and took a sip of her now-cold coffee. The caffeine hit quickly, sharpening her mind.
“…We’re getting a clean divorce, right? Don’t even think about suing me later for property division. Almost everything was acquired before our marriage anyway—it’s not even subject to division.”
Seung Oh’s expression grew slightly dazed.
“I agree—it’s exhausting hearing demands from someone you’ve already broken up with. Let’s tell both mothers once all the paperwork is finalized and you’ve submitted your resignation letter.”
“R-Resignation?”
Now Seung Oh’s voice trembled. Seo Ha simply shrugged, just as he had done moments earlier.
“Why so shocked? Surely you didn’t think you could keep working at my mom’s company after getting divorced for cheating with our housekeeper’s daughter?”
He must have firmly believed he’d one day inherit Kang Yoon Company. What a ridiculous life plan.
“Let’s not mess with the company. You always said yourself—personal and professional matters must stay strictly separate.”
“Cut the crap, Lee Seung Oh.”
Stunned by this, the first curse he’d ever heard from Seo Ha, Seung Oh froze.
“What did you say?”
“You know damn well you’re an animal, so shut up and just go sign the papers—both the divorce documents and your resignation.”
“Oh, Miss! That’s way too harsh!”
As Ji Soo started to raise her voice petulantly, Seung Oh calmed her down but shot Seo Ha a glare.
“Yoon Seo Ha. Were you always this vulgar a woman?”
“No matter how vulgar I get, I’ll still be classier than you and your lover.”
Dismissing Seung Oh’s absurd accusation with a single line, Seo Ha stood up.
“And you don’t need to keep smirking like that, Miss Lee Ji Soo.”
At the sound of her name, Ji Soo instinctively pressed herself closer to Seung Oh.
“That guy isn’t a dragon rising from a stream—he’s just the stream itself. After paying me alimony, I wonder if he’ll even have enough left to rent a single room?”
Seung Oh’s face contorted more grotesquely than she’d ever seen. Ji Soo’s bewildered expression as she stared up at him was almost worth watching. It felt as though something long stuck in her solar plexus had finally begun to loosen.
“He’ll probably cheat again too. If it was easy the first time, the second will be child’s play. And I hope his next woman is just a bit more impressive than you, Miss Lee Ji Soo.”
Rather than a mere insult, it sounded almost like a certainty. After dropping those words, Seo Ha held out her palm toward Seung Oh. She could still feel his blatant stare from the sofa, fixed on her.
“Hand it over.”
“What?”
“The car keys. We each keep what’s under our own names—did you already forget?”
Gritting his teeth, Seung Oh took out the car keys. Seo Ha snatched them, hooked the keyring onto her finger, and offered a final, parting smile.
“Take care. Did I ever tell you two really suit each other?”
Clack. Clack.
The crisp click of her cold heels faded into the distance, tapping between the elegant notes of the classical melody.
“O-oppa…”

Left behind, Seung Oh stared blankly at the exit, his mental gears jammed—until Ji Soo’s voice snapped him back to reality.
“I’m sorry… It’s all because of me…”
Resting gently on her knees was the bag Seung Oh had given her just recently. While Yoon Seo Ha had barely seemed pleased with it, Ji Soo had carried it everywhere as if it were the greatest treasure in the world.
And he loved that. He felt proud. Standing beside Ji Soo, he—once perpetually meek and shabby next to Yoon Seo Ha—finally felt like a truly confident, impressive man, better than anyone else in the world.
‘A woman should always think she’s not good enough, no matter how capable she is. That’s how a man keeps his pride. Our Seung Oh should’ve met someone like that…’
Ok Soon’s words had been absolutely correct. Yoon Seo Ha, with her overwhelming competence, didn’t just crush a man’s pride—she obliterated it entirely just by existing.
“It’s okay. Don’t cry, Ji Soo.”
Seung Oh picked up a napkin and gently wiped the tears gathering at Ji Soo’s eyes.
“B-But I’m still so moved… that you said you l-love me, oppa.”
“Where did you hear that I ever said I loved you before?”
“W-Well… I always had a little trouble believing it.”
Ji Soo fidgeted with her fingers, looking shy.
“Because… how could someone as amazing and handsome as you… really fall for someone like me… especially with Miss Seo Ha—so beautiful and capable—right beside you?”
Yoon Seo Ha had been beautiful. As Seo Ha’s nickname evolved from “Top of YY Middle” to “Goddess of YY High” to “YY University’s Han Aesel,” Seung Oh had also received attention—nicknamed things like “That guy next to Yoon Seo Ha” or “Male Cinderella.”
“You’re the beautiful one. Not Yoon Seo Ha.”
Seung Oh declared it firmly, as if rejecting that entire memory. A happy smile softly spread across Ji Soo’s face.
“I’ve never heard you say that before, oppa. You always just teased me.”
“Teased you? Why would you even say that?”
“B-Because I stutter. And they said I was ugly. And also…”
Ji Soo lowered her head deeply and added in a mumble.
“…That I’m poor…”
Overcome, Seung Oh couldn’t hold back anymore—he pulled Ji Soo tightly into his arms.
“It’s okay. I’m here for you now. Just forget all that.”
“Oppa, I’m okay now.”
Ji Soo pushed him away slightly, her voice even shakier than before.
“Now that I know you truly l-love me, I’m happy. Just with this memory, I can live happily forever. So please… go back to Miss Seo Ha. Apologize and tell her you lost your mind for a moment and said nonsense.”
“Lee Ji Soo. What are you even talking about?”
“Let’s break up. Don’t give up so much because of someone like me. You should stay with Miss Seo Ha—live in a nice house, drive a nice car, and become company president someday. That’s how it should be.”
Having stammered out her words, Ji Soo abruptly stood up.
“I’ve been unreasonably happy these days, way beyond my station. I’ll never forget it. Th-Thank you, Oppa Seung Oh.”
“Lee Ji Soo!”
Ji Soo forcefully shook off Seung Oh’s grasping hand and ran out of the café. Seung Oh couldn’t bring himself to chase after her and sat there numbly.
What Ji Soo had said was painfully realistic and utterly reasonable. If he got divorced from Yoon Seo Ha now, what would he have left? He’d lose the house, the car, the company—and even Ok Soon would have to move out of the home they’d been living in.
The thought of going from living comfortably as the CEO’s son-in-law to scraping by again in a cramped house like in childhood was horrifying.
“Damn it, Yoon Seo Ha!”
His resentment, unexpectedly, shot straight toward Yoon Seo Ha—so decisive and cold.
They’d been inseparable from kindergarten through university, eventually marrying. All this time, Seung Oh had aligned every part of his life to Seo Ha’s, doing his absolute best. Not for a single second had Yoon Seo Ha ever stopped loving Lee Seung Oh.
“Divorce? Without even asking why I met someone else? Not considering how you might fix your own mistakes—or even realizing what you did wrong—and just demanding divorce out of nowhere? Do you even have a spine? How could you do this to me…!”
Groaning and clutching his head in anguish, Seung Oh suddenly spotted the bag on the adjacent seat and fell silent.
That foolish woman had clearly left it behind, intending to return it. Inside were a sky-blue wallet, frayed and worn with loose threads, and the lipstick he’d bought her recently.
With trembling hands, Seung Oh opened the wallet. Inside were a single check card, three ten-thousand-won bills, and a sticker photo the two of them had taken not long ago.
“…Ji Soo.”
Seung Oh sprang to his feet, clutching Ji Soo’s bag in one hand and the sticker photo tightly in the other, and rushed outside. As he ran and ran toward Ji Soo’s neighborhood, he finally spotted her across the eight-lane road—shoulders slumped, walking listlessly.
“Ji Soo!”
Drawing breath from deep within his core, he roared like a lion. Passersby jumped in shock and turned to stare.
“Lee Ji Soo! Look here! Lee Ji Soo!”
But Ji Soo didn’t turn around. Whether she hadn’t heard him—or pretended not to—he couldn’t tell.
Desperate, Seung Oh dashed recklessly onto the road and vaulted over the central divider.
Screeeech!
Boommm!

“You fucking idiot! Are you trying to die?!”
Cars blared from all directions while drivers shouted curses—but none of that mattered now.
“Lee Ji Soo!”
Ji Soo lifted her head. Her eyes widened in astonishment.
“Oppa…?”
“Ji Soo!”
In an instant, Seung Oh crossed all eight lanes illegally and, miraculously unharmed, wrapped his arms tightly around her.
“I love you, Ji Soo! Forever!”
“Oppa… h-hic… sniff…”
Crying, Ji Soo rose onto her tiptoes. Their lips met like perfectly interlocking puzzle pieces. Right there in the middle of Gangnam-daero, with drivers’ profanities as their soundtrack, they became the tragic, romantic leads of a cinematic moment.
“I’ll protect you. I’ll treat you like a princess for life and love you forever. Let’s never break up, Ji Soo.”
As Seung Oh kissed away the tears gathering in Ji Soo’s eyes, he thought to himself:
All I need is for Yoon Seo Ha to disappear. If she just vanishes right now, I can keep everything.
My money, my social status—and the person I love.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
