Following the priest’s guidance, Edmund surveyed the interior of the exhibition hall and stopped before a massive window.

He stared at the window with cold, indifferent eyes.

They were purification stones.

And this ‘Purification’ reportedly required life force, so it had mostly been used for reformation experiments.

The displayed purification stones were either mana stones containing preserved living creatures or those in which the creatures had already perished; according to the Holy Maiden’s chronicles, numerous undiscovered purification stones still existed in the world.

Having grown up in the forest, Edmund speculated that the monster appearances in the duchy might be connected to these purification stones.

Perhaps a monster had freed itself from a purification stone mixed among ordinary mana stones.

Otherwise, how could a mere monster have breached the duchy’s defenses and infiltrated?

Today’s visit was precisely to verify that possibility—hoping that perhaps, with the naked eye, he might detect traces of life within the purification stones.

But, as expected, he saw nothing at all.

Only the Holy Maiden, who possessed the ‘Purification’ ability, could imprison life within, annihilate it, or even perceive its presence.

Edmund decided there was no further need to look.
