Impure Wedding Night (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 8
When Ye Rin sat down in front of him, Lee Hyun picked up the menu with an expressionless face.
‘This is my first time here today. I need to act calm.’
Honestly, it was one awkward moment after another.
Lee Hyun spoke in a low voice.
“What would you like to eat?”
“I’ll just have the ricotta cheese salad.”
Lee Hyun’s brow furrowed slightly.
He then called over a staff member and placed their order.
Soon, many dishes appeared on the table—far more than just the salad Ye Rin had requested.
“Please go ahead.”
“Thank you. I’ll enjoy my meal.”
Sitting across from Lee Hyun and sharing a meal felt utterly surreal.
After their one-night stand, facing him again so closely was never part of her plan.
She was nervous and uneasy, completely without an appetite.
Noticing Ye Rin barely touching her food, Lee Hyun asked,
“Why aren’t you eating?”
“My stomach isn’t really hungry…”
Just as she said that—
Her stomach betrayed her with a loud growl.
“Well, now that I think about it, maybe I am a little hungry after all.”
Mumbling awkwardly, Ye Rin speared a piece of steak with her fork.
It was clearly high-quality meat and probably delicious, but her nerves were so frayed she couldn’t properly savor the taste.
After a few more bites, Ye Rin finally set her fork down.
Lee Hyun also hadn’t eaten much, leaving most of his order untouched.
“Secretary Han, I expect you to carry out my instructions without any mistakes.”
“But what happens if I can’t find that woman?”
Lee Hyun’s brow furrowed slightly again.
“You’ll find yourself in serious trouble, Secretary Han.”
“Why?”
“You’ll probably understand why tomorrow.”
She didn’t want to know.
She wished tomorrow would never come—and if she could turn back time to the past, she’d do it in a heartbeat.
‘Maybe I should just confess right now and say I was the one that night.’
But one look at Lee Hyun’s icy expression made her swallow that thought immediately.
‘Right… He said he suffered huge losses. What if he demands compensation from me?’
No.
Under no circumstances could she let it slip.
She had no intention of quitting this company, so Lee Hyun absolutely must not find out that she was the woman he’d spent that deep night with.
After glancing at the untouched food, Lee Hyun spoke in his pleasant baritone.
“Secretary Han, if you’re not going to eat anymore, shall we leave?”
“Yes, that’s probably best.”
In the lobby, Ye Rin stood straight-backed instead of getting into the car to see him off.
Unexpectedly, the passenger window rolled down, revealing Lee Hyun.
“Aren’t you getting in?”
“Huh?”
The car behind honked loudly and impatiently.
“You’d better get in quickly.”
With no choice, Ye Rin climbed into Lee Hyun’s car.
“Managing Director, are you heading back to the office?”
“I’m going home.”
Trending
“Oh… okay.”
She couldn’t figure out why he’d asked her to get into his car.
If he’d said he was returning to the office, she might have thought he was offering to drop her off—but he wasn’t.
Was it because the subway station was far from the hotel, so he was giving her a ride?
But if he cared this much about his secretary, why had all his previous ones quit within a week?
While Ye Rin was lost in these thoughts,
Lee Hyun tapped the navigation system a few times.
“Your address.”
“Huh?”
“Enter your home address, Secretary Han.”
“…”
Ye Rin stared at Lee Hyun with a bewildered expression.
He looked back at her as if confused by her confusion.
“Managing Director… surely you’re not offering to drive me all the way home?”
“That’s exactly right.”
“Why…?”
“Secretary Han, did you bring your car?”
“No.”
“That’s why.”
What did “that’s why” even mean?
It was normal for a secretary to drive their boss home—but never the other way around.
This was absolutely not a usual situation.
Moreover, being alone with Lee Hyun like this felt completely unfamiliar to Ye Rin.
His overwhelming presence kept her body tense the entire time.
His cologne scent filled the car.
Because of that, memories of that intense night kept surfacing against her will.
Ye Rin hesitated, unsure what to do.
Meanwhile, Lee Hyun slightly furrowed his brow again.
“Secretary Han, do you realize how many times we’ve circled this same spot?”
“Oh—sorry.”
Helplessly, Ye Rin entered her home address into the navigation.
“Just drop me off at the nearest subway station…”
“What if you get into an accident on the way?”
“Huh?”
“Because if that meant you couldn’t come to work tomorrow, it would put me in a real bind.”
That was pure nonsense.
With a practiced business smile, Ye Rin spoke gently.
“That won’t happen, Managing Director.”
“You tend to be overly confident about everything, Secretary Han.”
Seriously—what were the odds of getting into an accident on her way home from work?
But Lee Hyun was utterly unreasonable.
His car drove straight toward the address Ye Rin had entered into the navigation.
It would’ve been far less awkward if she’d been the one driving him home instead.
Actually—even that probably wouldn’t have been very comfortable either.
“If you can’t come to work, I won’t be able to find that woman. Which means I’d have to wait yet another day.”
Was that really why he was giving her a ride?
Even if it wasn’t, she had no way to verify his true intentions.
Eventually, Lee Hyun’s car stopped near Ye Rin’s home—a modest neighborhood filled with run-down villas.
“Managing Director, you can just drop me off here.”
Lee Hyun’s car gradually slowed down.

He leaned forward, scanning the surroundings through the windshield.
The streetlights were inadequate, few people were around, and the area clearly had poor security.
“This is where you live, Secretary Han?”
“Yes. Thank you for the ride.”
Lee Hyun still looked dissatisfied, biting his lip lightly.
“See you tomorrow, Managing Director.”
“Right.”
Ye Rin quickly got out of Lee Hyun’s car.
After watching his car drive away, she finally turned around.
“If only this were a dream…”
How wonderful it would be if, upon waking up tomorrow, all of this turned out to be just a dream.
Thinking this, Ye Rin began walking.
[This is the timeline separator]Lee Hyun had many meetings in the morning and, fortunately, hadn’t shown up in his office.
Putting aside for now the task he’d assigned her—finding the missing woman—Ye Rin was handling other duties when
an unknown eleven-digit number called her.
“Yes, this is Han Ye Rin.”
—Secretary Han? This is Yoon Hye Ran, Lee Hyun’s mother.
“Oh, hello, Madam Cha.”
—Let’s have lunch together today.
After stating her purpose briefly, the call ended.
While Ye Rin stared at her now-dark phone screen, Secretary Choi approached her.
“Was that Madam Yoon’s call?”
“Yes… I think so.”
“Well, it’s finally come. It’s here.”
Secretary Choi pressed a hand to his forehead.
Confused, Ye Rin asked,
“Why would Madam Cha want to have lunch with me?”
“She’s been desperate lately to get the Managing Director married.”
“I see.”
“You’ll have to take on that job too, now.”
“Me?”
Secretary Choi patted her chair lightly, as if encouraging her.
“It’s not hard. You just need to somehow get the Managing Director seated at a blind date.”
Even just hearing it sounded like a difficult mission.
Watching Secretary Choi return to his desk with a carefree expression, Ye Rin let out a short sigh.
It was in that moment that she began to understand, just a little, why all her predecessors had quit so quickly.
[This is the timeline separator]Ye Rin entered the cafe at the address Yoon Hye Ran had sent.
Though it was lunchtime, there were no other customers.
She walked over to Hye Ran, who was already waiting for her, and bowed respectfully.
“Madam Cha, I’m Han Ye Rin, who started serving as the Managing Director’s secretary yesterday.”
“Mm. I’ve already seen your resume, so no need for introductions.”
Hye Ran pointed to the empty seat across from her, gesturing for Ye Rin to sit.
“Secretary Han, brunch is fine, right?”
“Yes, that’s fine.”
“I’ll speak casually—is that okay?”
“Of course, Madam Cha.”
From last night until now, every meal had been deeply uncomfortable.
“There’s only one thing I need you to focus on while you’re by our Lee Hyun’s side, Secretary Han.”

Hye Ran continued, smoothing her well-manicured nails.
“He keeps refusing blind dates, using his busy schedule as an excuse.”
“I heard that from Secretary Choi.”
“I need you to help him meet a good match so he can get married.”
Hye Ran smiled brightly, as if it were the simplest request in the world.
“I’ll do my best.”
Somehow, since yesterday, all the tasks assigned to Ye Rin had been far beyond her capabilities.
“I went to see a famous fortune-teller, and she said Lee Hyun must get married within this year to build a happy family without any issues.”
“I see.”
“She also said he’ll be perfectly happy if he marries out of genuine love.”
Hye Ran giggled behind her hand, clearly delighted at the thought.
Ye Rin stayed quiet, simply listening to Hye Ran’s words.
Hye Ran pulled an envelope from her bag and handed it over.
“I’ve selected some women who’d suit our Lee Hyun. I’ve numbered them in order—just arrange meetings accordingly.”
“Understood.”
Hye Ran suddenly grabbed Ye Rin’s hand, which was resting on the table.
“You must make sure Lee Hyun actually shows up for these meetings.”
“Yes, Madam Cha. I’ll do my absolute best.”
“Lee Hyun has an older brother, you know.”
Hye Ran recited one of Chairman Cha’s stated conditions for naming a successor.
“He’s promised to give the successor position to whichever son marries first—that’s why I’m so desperate about this.”
Now Ye Rin finally understood why Hye Ran had summoned her personally and given such earnest instructions.
“Secretary Han, wouldn’t you be proud if the boss you serve becomes the next chairman of Jiseok Group?”
“I suppose so.”
Forcing a polite smile, Ye Rin spoke words she didn’t truly feel.
She’d never harbored such grand ambitions.
She’d always been content simply supporting her boss to the best of her ability within her own limits.
The problem was that meeting Lee Hyun had shattered all those small, quiet joys.
“Well then, I’m counting on you, Secretary Han.”
She had a strong feeling that if Lee Hyun didn’t sit through a blind date, she’d be summoned before Hye Ran the very next day.
[This is the timeline separator]Back at the office, Ye Rin opened the envelope Hye Ran had given her and checked the list inside.
When she saw the name at the very top of the list, she bit her lip hard.
“No way…”
She flipped to the next page, saw the photo of the top-ranked blind date candidate, and dropped the paper with a soft thud.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
