Impure Wedding Night (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 9
“Haaah.”
The first woman Lee Hyun had to meet was Kwak Seo Yun, the daughter of a three-term congressman. She was truly someone entangled with Han Ye Rin through a string of bitter fate.
That Seo Yun—of all people—was the top-priority woman Lee Hyun needed to meet.
It was undoubtedly a deeply cursed connection.
“Why is this happening to me lately…?”
Staring at Seo Yun’s beaming photo, tears welled up in his eyes.
Seo Yun was the kind of person who coveted anything that belonged to Ye Rin.
They’d spent years clinging together under the guise of friendship, yet Seo Yun clearly never saw Ye Rin as a true friend.
Seo Yun had deliberately approached and seduced every one of Ye Rin’s ex-boyfriends, causing their breakups.
At first, it seemed like mere coincidence—but as it kept happening, Ye Rin realized Seo Yun was doing it on purpose, and from that moment on, she could no longer look at Seo Yun with kindness.
Recently, Seo Yun had even stolen Ye Rin’s current boyfriend.
It wasn’t the first time, so Ye Rin had just laughed it off—but that didn’t mean she wasn’t hurt.
Looking at Seo Yun’s face in a photograph like this wasn’t pleasant at all.
The thought that Seo Yun had taken her man and would now go on to live happily with someone as impressive as Lee Hyun filled Ye Rin with burning anger.
Of course, she also wanted to keep her distance from Lee Hyun—that was precisely why she couldn’t reveal herself as “that woman” from that night.
But she didn’t want Lee Hyun and Seo Yun meeting face-to-face at a blind date either.
After selfishly stealing everything from her and enjoying it all alone, Seo Yun had become so infuriating that Ye Rin absolutely refused to let her stand beside Lee Hyun.
Someone might point fingers, asking why she’d mix personal feelings into such a professional matter—but even a worm squirms when stepped on.
Just thinking about all the days she’d endured made her sigh helplessly even now.
Though she hadn’t watched him closely for more than a few days, Lee Hyun was an exceptionally kind man.
A scheming woman like Seo Yun was even less suited for such an admirable man.
‘I really don’t want Director Cha and those two meeting.’
Just as that thought crossed her mind, Ye Rin’s desk phone rang.
“Yes, Managing Director.”
—Secretary Han, please come in. I have something to discuss.
After knocking, Ye Rin entered Lee Hyun’s office.
“I heard you met Madam Yoon earlier today.”
“Yes, I had lunch with Madam Cha.”
“Mother must have instructed you to schedule my blind date, then.”
“That’s correct.”
Lee Hyun placed one hand on his desk and rested his chin on it.
“You must’ve seen the list of prospective matches. What do you think, Secretary Han?”
When she first saw that list, only one thought came to mind:
She absolutely did not want Lee Hyun meeting the woman listed as number one.
But she couldn’t sabotage such a crucial arrangement for Lee Hyun just because of her personal feelings.
Ye Rin put on a faint, gentle smile.
“It seems Madam Cha has carefully selected some very suitable women.”
“So that’s how you see it, Secretary Han.”
Lee Hyun tapped his desk lightly with his index finger—tap, tap.
As Ye Rin hesitated over how to answer if Lee Hyun asked which woman on the list he should meet,
something entirely different came out of his mouth.
“But honestly, I have no desire to go on any blind dates.”
She hadn’t expected it would be easy to send Lee Hyun off to a blind date.
That was probably why Madam Yoon had specifically summoned her to give strict instructions.
Still, she hadn’t anticipated Lee Hyun would refuse so firmly, and a hint of awkwardness flickered across Ye Rin’s face.
“Didn’t Chairman Cha say he’d give the Jiseok Group heir position to whoever marries first?”
“I said I won’t go on a blind date—not that I won’t marry at all.”
Wasn’t that basically the same thing?
Ye Rin mentally retraced their conversation, wondering if she’d missed something.
Meanwhile, Lee Hyun lifted his head and fixed his gaze firmly on Ye Rin’s face.
Feeling the heat of his stare on her skin, Ye Rin slowly raised her eyelids.
“I want a love marriage—not some boring, interest-driven arranged marriage.”
Madam Yoon’s words came to mind:
“If you marry for love, with hearts truly connected first, you’ll live happier than anything else.”
Ye Rin somewhat agreed with that.
She thought Lee Hyun might be a little happier if he married someone he genuinely liked, rather than someone chosen just for their status or conditions.
She lifted the corners of her lips into a smile.
“That’s a good decision.”
Then carefully added a question:
“Do you… happen to be seeing someone right now?”
“No.”
The immediate reply left Ye Rin flustered once again.
The man who claimed he wanted a love marriage confidently declared he wasn’t seeing anyone.
“Then… who exactly are you hoping to date?”
“You know who, Secretary Han.”
“….”
Under his cold, piercing gaze that seemed to see straight through her, Ye Rin swallowed hard.
“I’m sorry—I must’ve missed the message from Secretary Choi…”
“That woman—you know her too.”
A chill ran down her spine.
It sounded as if he knew she’d been hiding everything all along.
Every time Lee Hyun mentioned “that woman,” her heart fluttered wildly in her chest.
Struggling to steady her trembling pupils, Ye Rin asked with feigned innocence,
“I know her?”
“The woman I’m desperately trying to find right now.”
That “woman” was none other than herself.
Which made the whole situation even more incomprehensible.
“Are you saying… you want to date that woman?”
“Yes, exactly.”
Lee Hyun spoke as if this were the simplest matter in the world, while Ye Rin’s expression grew increasingly flustered.
“Why?”
She was genuinely curious.
Why had she suddenly become Lee Hyun’s chosen love interest?
Lee Hyun tilted his head slightly, as if recalling that night.
“Because she’s unforgettable.”
“….”
“I just can’t forget her.”
She desperately wanted to know why.
Finally, Lee Hyun slowly opened his mouth.
“Because she took my first time.”
“Kellok.”
She hadn’t even been drinking anything, yet the shock made Ye Rin cough involuntarily.
“Secretary Han, are you alright?”
“Yes. I’m fine.”
Ye Rin cleared her throat with effort.
Her fingertips trembled from hearing something so unexpected.
He’d clearly said “first time.”
First time?
How could a man who’d seemed so skilled that night possibly have been a virgin?
Her hazel pupils shook rapidly.
But that wasn’t even the most shocking part.
He actually intended to pursue a relationship with the woman who’d taken his virginity?
Ye Rin felt dizzy—where should she even begin correcting all this?
Taking a deep breath, she spoke slowly.
“Managing Director, this might be overstepping, but…”
Lee Hyun leaned forward slightly, curious.
“From what I understand, that night was a consensual one-night stand…”
“There was no consent.”
“Excuse me?”
What was he talking about?
She’d clearly agreed to spend just one night together and had told Lee Hyun she didn’t want to exchange any personal information—it was precisely the mindset of someone seeking a one-night stand.
Lee Hyun, however, looked even more bewildered than she was.
“I never promised it would be just that one night.”
His shamelessly confident expression left Ye Rin speechless.
She nearly blurted out a foolish “Huh?” like an idiot.
Barely keeping her composure, Ye Rin tried to reason with him.
“Well… with one-night stands, even if it’s not explicitly stated beforehand, it’s usually implied…”
“Secretary Han, how do you know so much about it?”
“Excuse me?”
Lee Hyun suddenly stood up, walked around his desk, and stepped slowly toward her—one step, then another.
“You sound as if you were right there that night.”
“Me? No, never.”
“Is that so? Well… you’re probably not that woman anyway.”
By now, Lee Hyun stood right in front of Ye Rin, hands deep in his suit pockets, staring down at her.
“So—go on with what you were saying.”
“Well, a friend told me…”
“A friend?”
“Yes. Not that I’ve ever enjoyed or frequently had one-night stands or anything.”
“Good to hear.”
“Good… yes, that is good.”
She wasn’t sure what exactly was “good” about it, but she decided to go with it for now.
Lee Hyun waited patiently, as if encouraging her to say more.
“So apparently, after that night, it’s usually a bit awkward to meet your partner again face-to-face.”
At that, Lee Hyun’s brows knit together sharply.
“Awkward.”
He kept his eyes locked on Ye Rin as he asked,
“So… was it awkward for you, Secretary Han?”
His cool voice pierced straight through her ears.
“Excuse me?”
Her eyelashes fluttered.
‘What? Why would he ask that?’
Seeing Ye Rin’s obvious discomfort, Lee Hyun suddenly grinned.
“Sorry—I phrased that poorly.”
He laughed lightly and corrected himself.
“What I meant to ask was… if you were in that situation, would you find it awkward?”
“Oh… yes.”
Still suspicious, Ye Rin kept her eyes on him.
Lee Hyun smiled warmly, as if truly having no other intention.
Just a moment ago, her heart had plummeted—she’d feared he knew something and was testing her.
Thankfully, he seemed genuinely to have misspoken and even apologized repeatedly afterward.
“If it were me… I think I would’ve felt that way too.”
At Ye Rin’s honest answer, a faint crease appeared between Lee Hyun’s brows.
‘Ah… maybe I shouldn’t have said that.’
But it was the truth—what could she do?
That night had been utterly intoxicating, and even now, just looking at Lee Hyun brought every detail flooding back.
But it was meant to stay a one-time fling—a cherished memory, nothing more.
Getting personally involved beyond that would be utterly absurd.
Lee Hyun gave a slight, quiet nod.
“I see.”
For some reason, he almost looked hurt.
His eyes, usually brimming with confidence, now held a trace of disappointment.
‘He’s heard enough now—he probably won’t keep looking for that woman.’
Feeling reassured, Ye Rin silently congratulated herself for having spoken honestly.
“I’ve carefully noted your opinion, Secretary Han.”
But Ye Rin still knew far too little about Lee Hyun.
“I’ll take it into consideration—but since you’re clearly not that woman, right?”
His deep eyes stared straight into hers.
Knowing she had to respond, Ye Rin nodded firmly.
“Yes, of course. I’m definitely not that woman.”
“I see. Then I suppose I’ll just have to meet her and ask directly.”
“Managing Director—you can’t possibly mean to keep searching for her?”
“Yes. That’s exactly what I intend to do.”
“Why…?”
“Didn’t I already say? I want to fall in love.”
Somehow, everything always led straight back to love.
