I'm Terminal Anyway, No Regrets (17 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 12
“Damn it!”
Jeffrey shoved Kravat aside and ran his hands through his hair. His eyes were bloodshot with anger.
“What a disgrace! I did exactly as you told me! What will people say from tomorrow on!”
Jeffrey shouted at Madam Olan, stomping his feet like a child and swearing.
Elena, knowing Jeffrey would be furious and humiliated, had already fled to her room.
“Since you caused this mess, you deal with it! Go shut their mouths or get down on your knees and beg them not to spread rumors!”
“She’s not the kind to spread gossip. Madam Castlea is family—she wouldn’t risk tarnishing our house.”
Madam Olan fretted anxiously, trying to calm Jeffrey down.
Jeffrey sneered mockingly.
“Not the kind to tarnish our house? Did you do this on purpose, fully aware of how scandalous it would be!”
“You agreed to it too!”
“You pushed me into it!”
“I told you—they’re all my people, so it’s fine!”
Though she said that, Madam Olan couldn’t hide her nervousness, shifting restlessly in her seat.
Madam Riel, who ran a dressmaking shop, had been deliberately invited today because she was known to talk loosely; her shop was frequented by many maids and ladies, making rumors spread quickly.
Yet, the very move she’d orchestrated had backfired.
Knowing Jeffrey would explode if she suggested damage control, Madam Olan simply kept insisting everything would be fine.
“So this is what you really are.”
Jeffrey was truly despicable.
Even though they’d done it together, he refused to take responsibility, instead lashing out and blaming his own mother, Madam Olan, to evade accountability.
He was nothing more than a childish coward.
Though no one held me back, I remained in the study, silently watching them.
Realizing that their fight would only hurt each other, Jeffrey’s sharp gaze shifted toward me.
“Princess, this is all your fault! Why stir up pointless trouble! Divorce, of all things!”
“Blame your own dishonesty. If you hadn’t cheated, I wouldn’t have asked for a divorce.”
Of course, even if he hadn’t cheated, I would have found some other grounds for divorce anyway.
There was no shortage of reasons.
The upcoming failed investment, the fraud, the loans taken from illegal lenders, and the countless petty schemes he’d committed using my status as a princess to impersonate royalty—
I’d simply chosen the quickest and easiest way.
“Have you signed the divorce papers?”
“Damn it! Divorce is absolutely out of the question!”
With nothing more to say, Jeffrey stormed out of the study in a rage.
He wouldn’t let this divorce happen easily—someone built on appearances, prestige, and arrogance would never tolerate the stain of divorce.
But the divorce would happen.
I would make sure of it.
Through the window, I saw a carriage entering through the main gate. I checked the time.
Right on schedule, they had arrived.
“Ormia, you…”
Madam Olan clenched her fists, trembling with fury as she glared at me.
“You knew, didn’t you? You did this on purpose, knowing everything?”
It wasn’t a question that needed an answer.
Seeing I remained silent, Madam Olan, apparently not really wanting my reply, snapped sharply,
“Hah! So you did know. Who told you? Which maid spilled the beans to you?”
Her strong hand gripped my forearm, nails digging in as if ready to tear into my flesh.
The elegant Madam Olan was gone.
Her hair was disheveled, her face twisted with rage beyond any pretense of civility.
“Aren’t you even sorry?”
“Sorry? Why should I be?”
“You tried to make me look like a lunatic and got caught. Any decent person would feel remorse.”
“Why should I feel sorry! If you hadn’t married into this house, none of this would’ve happened! The Olan family was happy and harmonious! If only your useless self hadn’t begged our Jeffrey to marry you!”

“And yet, thanks to that marriage, you gained a title and became nobility. You were happy enough selling your son—now I’m just a thorn in your eye?”
I looked straight into Madam Olan’s furious eyes and spoke quietly.
“Aren’t you ashamed?”
Slap! Madam Olan hit me so hard my head whipped to the side.
Jeffrey had looked panicked after slapping me himself, but Madam Olan glared, clearly wanting to strike again.
“So this is your true nature! You did this on purpose to ruin our Jeffrey!”
“It was you, Mother, who plotted to ruin me.”
“You damn bitch!”
My calm, fearless demeanor only infuriated Madam Olan further, and she began swinging her arms wildly.
When she’d sneaked into my bedroom at night to hit me with a pillow, she’d at least been careful not to leave marks on my face—but now she seemed completely beyond reason.
Just then, Elena came in, having come to see what was happening.
She always had to involve herself in these incidents.
“Mother, how could you— Kyaa! Mother!”
“Your damn bitch self is destroying our Jeffrey! You’ve plotted to bring ruin upon the Olan house!”
Seizing the chance to vent all her long-held resentment, Elena didn’t stop Madam Olan—she joined in.
“That’s exactly why I said not to marry her! She’s ominous! A wicked woman who even defies the gods!”
My hair was yanked, my body shaken violently. Sharp nails scratched my skin.
“Die! Just go out and die!”
A strong tug ripped the shoulder seam of my dress.
I’d endured mobs pelting me with stones, fled while my feet bled and my skin tore under fingernails, been dragged by my hair—
This petty scuffle between two women was nothing to me, easily bearable.
“Oh.”
But then my breath caught.
My chest tightened as if someone were choking me, and the bookshelves and ceiling before my eyes all warped and blurred.
My footing gave way, and my body collapsed downward.
“You evil bitch! How dare you latch onto our Jeffrey! I won’t let you destroy the Olan house! Just die already!”
A dense emotion, which I’d thought long worn down and faded, surged up inside me.
I watched in slow motion as Madam Olan grabbed the roses from a vase and swung them toward me.
I was going to die anyway.
I wouldn’t live past twenty-two.
Was my very existence so intolerable to them?
“Stop!”
In an instant, a large hand yanked me backward. My hair fluttered as the bouquet of roses narrowly missed my face.
A firm chest pressed against my back, pulling me into an embrace.
The scent drifting from behind me—
Liam Wilboyer.
I looked up to see Liam, jaw clenched and teeth gritted, glaring at Madam Olan and Elena.
“W-what is this? Why are you…?”
Liam wasn’t alone. The Royal Envoy, wearing a crimson sash over his shoulder, stood with him.
The Envoy, who delivered royal letters from household to household, also served as the King’s official representative.
The normally composed and courteous Envoy turned pale and shouted,
“In broad daylight—even if you’re family, what on earth is this! Assault! Ladies, what in heaven’s name are you doing!”
“It’s a family matter. My insolent daughter-in-law brought shame upon me, and I’m disciplining her. Kindly leave!”
Madam Olan recognized the Royal Envoy but brazenly stood her ground.
“Good grief—even commoners don’t brawl like rabid dogs!”
“Who are you calling commoners? Our house is a baronial family!”
The Envoy looked back and forth between Madam Olan and me.
He must have known I was a princess since he’d come to the Olan residence, yet Madam Olan’s booming voice seemed to intimidate him into hesitation.
Had another royal been in my place, he wouldn’t have hesitated to intervene.
Then again, no other royal would ever be subjected to this by a mother-in-law.

“This is a family affair. Please wait in the reception room. We’ll be there shortly.”
“Oh, but…”
When Madam Olan lifted her chin and spoke, the Envoy avoided looking at me.
His conscience troubled him, but he didn’t want to meddle and unnecessarily escalate matters.
Just as the Envoy nodded and opened his mouth to speak, Liam, who’d been holding me, changed everything.
“Will the Royal Envoy tolerate assault on royalty?”
Liam’s scornful voice was as heavy and sharp as a thick icicle.
“In the Empire, anyone—noble or commoner—who commits an act of imperial treason by insulting the royal bloodline has both arms severed. Entire bloodlines are exterminated for rebellion. Yet Glisia claims its royals are children of the gods, yet treats them so shamefully.”
“Imperial treason…”
Elena paled, muttering under her breath. Madam Olan scowled and confronted Liam, the unwelcome intruder.
“Stay out of this if it doesn’t concern you! This is a family issue! An unfortunate incident occurred while we were resolving matters within our house. The Olan family will handle this properly.”
“Ormia is a princess of the realm! What nonsense is this! You’re clearly trying to cover up royal assault—are you really going to stand by and watch, Envoy?”
Sensing danger, the Envoy finally intervened.
“W-wait a moment. This matter doesn’t concern the Empire. We will formally report and handle it appropriately.”
“I will report this to the Empire. If people learn how Glisia treats its powerless royals like this, won’t they think the Empire is safer?”
Seeing Liam’s uncompromising stance, the Envoy turned deathly pale.
Terrified this would escalate into an international scandal, the Envoy hastily blew his horn and shouted so loudly the corridor echoed,
“Guards! Come in at once and arrest these people! Seize the criminals who assaulted royalty!”
“What is this? Wait, just a moment—it’s a family matter!”
“Kyaaaaah!”
Heavy footsteps echoed down the corridor as knights stormed into the study.
Elena shrieked and ran wildly around the room.
Madam Olan turned ashen, stepping back two paces before collapsing onto the floor.
“What’s going on?”
Jeffrey arrived belatedly, having just heard the commotion.
“Jeffrey! It’s her fault! We’re innocent!”
“Please save us! I only did what Mother told me to!”
Madam Olan and Elena were seized by the knights and dragged out.
Jeffrey stared after them, utterly bewildered.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
